Legend of Truck-san
4-"I saved America."②

4-"I saved America."②

~everyone’s favorite Truck-san point of view~

The town came into view in the morning. The diamond god communication device rested in my cabin. Hopefully, Mechanic can work out something. Those were my worries as I pulled into town and gave my horn a toot to alert Mechanic. He ran out, and another japanese kid followed.

“What, did you multiply or something?” I joked.

“Hey! Truck-san. Meet my new friend. He’s an edge lord,” Mechanic said.

The other japanese boy was clean cut. For some reason, he’s wearing two belts across his chest diagonally and a trenchcoat. Is that a new style?

“I’m Vranyir, Truck-san. It’s strange… you look familiar, though I can’t place you exactly. I came here to possibly destroy or terrorize the town because I heard Court Wizard was killed. To my surprise, Mechanic here told me you did it. But, I’ll let it pass. Court Wizard, and I, did many things wrong in the past. Even if I die, I won’t let Dracula run my life anymore. Mechanic here taught me that I was wrong! Truck-san, will you help me defeat Dracula?”

What.

“Dracula?” I said.

“Dracula,” said Mechanic.

“No, who’s Dracula?”

They explained the nature of Dracula. Seems they made quick friends. This Vranyir said a bunch of strange things though. Good thing he’s mostly talking to Mechanic. I can’t handle strange people like him.

“So, I should ram Dracula?”

“In order to complete world domination, Truck-san, we need to defeat the vampire lords and found a country! Dracula rules a huge area, but she’s very powerful, if you kill her, we’ll be able to found a nation!” Mechanic said.

“And, why do I need a nation again?”

“To build the technology to get to other worlds, Truck-san, to save Driver-san!”

“Well, okay. I’ll kill Dracula then. Anyways, I found a lead about the metals…”

I explained Mountain God. It sent Mechanic into a serious state.

“If I can’t get the metal I need, there’s no way I can build the giant robot army I wanted…” Mechanic sighed.

Vranyir stepped in with a suggestion.

“If it’s just resources you need, well, I can help with that a little. I am an edge lord after all.”

“How much are we talking about here, Vranyir?” Mechanic said, and had an impromptu conversation about the metals with Vranyir. I couldn’t understand it at all. It seems they reached a conclusion, as Mechanic turned to me.

“Truck-san, we need to head to Vranyir’s castle. There he has a fair amount of materials I need. I should be able to do something with the castle itself if we have enough! Drive us there, Truck-san!”

“Okay. What about Dracula and the Mountain God?”

“We’ll save that for later, Truck-san. There’s no way to deal with either problem right now. You’ve got that mechaform and those crazy abilities you told me about, but there’s no way from what Vranyir said that we’re ready to face Dracula, start a noiseless mining operation, or found a nation either!”

“Well, okay. Thanks, Mechanic. You always know what to do,” I said.

Mechanic smiled and rubbed the back of his head. Then, Vranyir spoke.

“Oh! It’s you! You were the truck who ran me over in japan!”

“Probably,” I responded.

“What?!” Mechanic became startled.

“I rammed a lot of people, guys. I can’t even remember how many, though most of them were average japanese teenagers like both of you.”

“Really? Truck-san, I didn’t know that…” Mechanic said.

“Remember what Alyavrane said about my reincarnation prayer ability? How I used it a lot? That’s why.”

“Oh…” Mechanic seemed to piece it together.

Vranyir interjected.

“But, from the way Mechanic talks about you, aren’t you guilty about killing so many?”

“I rammed Mechanic too,” I said

“Mechanic! Is this true?!” questioned Vranyir.

“Well, yes. When I talking to Truck-san, and found out about his loyalty to Driver-san, I found that honorable and didn’t blame him. Truck-san said it’s not his fault. How can you blame a Truck for what the human did? It may have just been an accident too! Every time! But, to think that we got killed and sent to another world by the same truck…”

For some reason, I felt strange when Mechanic said that. The ‘same’ truck. No, isn’t it always my fault? Just how many did I kill? I can’t count it, no matter how much I try. Just how many did I pray for? And Driver-san, why wasn’t his license suspended? I shook my steering wheel.

“It doesn’t change anything. I’m going to save Driver-san. Vranyir, Mechanic, that’s all that matters to me. I can’t do anything else right now. I don’t know what you two want, but if it’s world domination  and ramming vampire lords to death, I think sticking with me is the best idea,” I said.

Mechanic balled up his fists.

“There’s no way I would leave you Truck-san! I owe you this new life! It’s my fault Driver-san died! If I didn’t fly into your body in soul form…! I’ll make everything right again and get Driver-san back to you!”

Vranyir smiled, looking to the both of us and then closing his eyes.

“Heh. The two of you are amazing together. I never thought I’d team up with a truck as an edge lord in another world to slay Dracula and found a nation, but here we are. Let’s go!” Vranyir cheered.

Villager Girl A came running. Seems she noticed our conversation. She panted, hands on her knees, she righted herself and clasped her hands in front of her.

“Truck-san, what are you doing? Are you leaving?”

She’s got a sad look on her face.

“Going to slay Dracula.”

“Dracula! But- even for you Truck-san, that’s impossible!”

“Still going. Villager Girl A, from the start, my destination is Driver-san. That hasn’t changed,” I said to her. I didn’t know why, but I felt I had to say that so she would understand.

Her fists balled up, her face determined she looked at me.

“I’m coming with! I don’t know what I can do, but! Anywhere Truck-san goes, I want to be there!”

Vranyir and Mechanic had smiles on their faces. What’s with you two? What am I supposed to say to Villager Girl A! Hey. Eh, I feel like lately, I have to depend on Mechanic for everything. Here’s another one, Mechanic.

“What do you think, Mechanic?”

“What do I think about what, Truck-san?”

“Should we bring her?”

“But, that’s your choice Truck-san!”

“No, I have no idea why she wants to come with, it’s almost like-”

Driver-san and I. She wants to follow someone, no matter what. No matter how far they’ve gone, or what crimes they committed, or what they made you do-

“You keep on driving,” I said out loud.

“What?” Mechanic looked confused.

“Nevermind, Mechanic. Maybe I’m not as dumb as I think I am. Villager Girl A! How far will you go for me!” I tooted my horn at her.

“Anywhere, Truck-san!”

“Get in my cabin, all of you! It’s time for a road trip!”

They cheered, and Villager Girl A and Vranyir immediately left. Why aren’t you getting into the cabin! As if sensing my confusion, Mechanic stayed behind to explain it to me.

“Um, Truck-san, we need food and clothing. I have to wrap up construction and load the wood golems in your trailer too, so it might take awhile. Don’t be in such a hurry, okay?”

“Oh.”

Okay, maybe I’m dumber than I thought, after all.

~It’s the lady Dracula’s point of view~

“Worthless fools, dancing to my tune. Fear me. For I am, Dracula!”

I smacked my action figures around together.

“Goosh! Kaboom! Gi-dooon! The beautiful and sexy vampire lord wins again!”

I cheered and continued playing. It’s times like this, when it’s just me and my action figures together that I feel complete. Sure, torturing townsfolk is great and all, but after awhile, I started getting more interested in their lives. Some nights, I would walk among them, giggling and sneaking peeks at their little antics. To be a mortal is something I would never do. But, watching them was fun.

“Bow to me, vampire lords! From now on, you will call me The Vampire Lord Queen! All the humans will be treated nicely, and we’ll engage in an ethical blood sharing program to promote human welfare!”

I smiled wider as I said it with my representation action figure doll. It’s sad, but, the doll’s not nearly as gorgeous as I am. Even though I had the best in the kingdom working on my action figures… why?

I wandered around my room before throwing myself on my bed on my back.

If only… I had an action figure of myself. I leaned back on my bed holding the doll with both hands above my head. It would be as pretty as me! It would be made by the finest artists in the land! All humans would be able to own one, if they so wanted to! My beauty could be known far and wide… instead of the current situation where only the people I kidnapped and my demon generals saw me. They were poor company.

I tossed the doll to the wall in disgust. It shattered, and a made a startled noise as my body jerked. I destroyed it again. I’m never satisfied! But, it’s just, If it’s not as pretty as me-

I feel like there’s no point in doing this. No one appreciates me.

I felt my smile turn to a frown as my eyebrows settled into their usual tightness. Ah, it’s that bad mood again. What should I do!

As I grumbled, I got up and walked to my closet, picking out the only dress I had besides the skimpy leather outfit I usually wore. Slipping out of that irritation leather outfit, I felt invigorated as I twirled in the dress, watching the folds flutter. That’s it. It’s going to be today! I’m going to talk to an actual human, and we’re going to be friends!

I turned into bat form and flew out of the castle. Goodbye, demon generals! I’ll be back later, I wouldn’t want you to get lonely, but this time, I’ll make a friend! Someone I won’t have to hypnotize with my magic and abduct! You’ll see!

I winged under the moonlight, heading to the nearest town I ruled over. I soared into a local pub through an open window and crawled on the ceiling. No good. I’m shaking again. I heard the burly men talk and laugh at each other, the girls delivering frothy drinks. I heard them complain about their day, about this job and that woman. I flew to a chandelier, and gave up. I’ll listen again. Just for tonight, okay? I’ll definitely, definitely, talk to a human tommorrow! I’m an absolute beauty! They will fall in love immediately! And then, I can-

Play with action figures with them! My fondest wish. I imagined, maybe a girl my age, maybe she was at least a complementing beauty to myself, and she would bring her dolls and I would bring mine and then-

I dreamed to myself, listening to the human’s talk. Of course, I could steal anyone of them against their will with magic or force alone, but, I couldn’t help think something was missing. When these humans talked, I felt it. When I listened, I felt it! Something is fundamentally different between their conversations with each other and the interactions between other vampire lords and I!

But, I’m lost as to what that is. Usually, we just fight and mock each other dramatically. I’ve never seen humans do that. What’s their secret? I must know. And so, deep into the night, I listened to their conversations in bat form on that chandelier in the bar.

~edge lord Vranyir’s point of view~

We made it to my castle in a few hours. I can fly with magic, but it was a nostalgic feeling to ride in a vehicle again. I never rode in a truck even on earth, so I stared out the window the whole time sharing the cabin with Villager Girl A and Mechanic. My heart’s pounding hard. Maybe, my dreams can come true. These people are amazing. Well, one’s the truck that killed me so, is that a person? I guess it counts. He’s a little naive, though, but then again he is a truck. Mechanic seems to have been lying to me when we first talked, but after getting to know him, I let it slide. He can do it! He can change this world! That ability is amazing!

After all this time, I finally found something to live for, to risk my life against Dracula again! Anime will rise again, in this world, and I will champion it!

The conversation between Mechanic and I went like this:

“So, you can deconstruct everything from your imagination into separate parts and then build it up again? All the technology of earth should be possible then…” I said.

“It’s not just that. Truck-san can talk to objects as well. It’s like computer programming. When he talks to them, it’s like they come alive. With this, all I need is the right metal and I can construct a robot army!”

“But- isn’t robots, I don’t know, not enough?”

“What’s wrong with a robot army, Vranyir?”

“Well, if Truck-san has a mechaform… don’t you want to make giant robots to pilot?”

His face stiffened. I can tell, it’s a sore point with him. He reminds me of that kid I knew in middle school.

“Robot. Army.”

“Giant robots?” I countered.

“Robot army.”

I threw my hands up.

“Giant robot army? And one with a cockpit. For me?”

Mechanic held his hand to his chin. He closed his eyes, as if pondering.

“I’m making you a giant katana once we get the resources.”

I smiled. This is a man that understands me without even looking. Or, maybe it’s that I still have the katana on my side even though I took off ninety-seven of my belts. I couldn’t let go of the last three. The last one actually held up my pants.

“Hmph. You are a great man, Mechanic. Truck-san may not be all he’s cracked up to be but you-”

“Hey.”

Oh, Mechanic’s got a scowl on his face. That was the wrong thing to say! I’ll apologize.

“Sorry! I didn’t mean anything by it!” I said that and then it occurred to me. There’s a truck. There’s a technology guy. He can make giant robots so, if he can make giant robots-

“Hey, Mechanic, what are you going to do after you found a nation for Truck-san? After we defeat Dracula?”

“Well, naturally, world domination, why?”

“How about-”

I proposed my anime empire to him.

“Vranyir… we can’t take over the world with anime.”

“Yes, we can.”

“But- nevermind. Let’s talk about it after we beat Dracula, okay?”

You will see the wisdom in my ways, Mechanic! Then, Mechanic turned my castle into a flying castle battleship. This kind of thing isn’t bad either. We stood outside with Truck-san. I put Villager Girl A to work with the maid staff inside the castle

“Truck-san, talk to it,” Mechanic urged.

“I don’t know, Mountain God said that mountains are just big rocks…”

“But his is a bunch of smaller rocks! Rock slabs! Mortar! And… people, and, carpets, and stuff. Plus the rockets,” Mechanic countered.

“Oh. Then it’s like a closet. Castle-san! Shout out!”

There was a rumble. I didn’t actually think it would work, but-

“Castle says fuck you,” said Truck-san.

“What…” Mechanic stood there, shocked.

I walked forward. Thank you, Truck-san, Mechanic. Today- I’ve officially lost it. I’m going to talk to my castle and it’s the only perfectly logical thing to do in this situation. I drew my japanese sword, pointing it and light it on flame. Time to get into character!

“Castle, you belong to me, edge lord Vranyir! Obey your master! Join me, and together, we shall rise to conquer together! With anime!”

I flourished my blade to the sky.

“Dracula has ruled over us for far too long! Do you not want to see yourself flying in the sky? Do you not want to be a flying battle fortress? I can’t talk to you, but I don’t need to, Castle, let our hearts join as one and overthrow the sense of this world and rule!”

Truck-san spoke up.

“Castle asked what anime is. I don’t know either.”

I slapped my face and extinguished my blade. Of course the castle would question that one point, out of everything I said! No, I have a plan. Anime, anime is- how do I explain this to a truck and castle? They aren’t people. They don’t understand anime. There’s no way they could. I’d have to show them, but I can’t. Wait! I can’t, yet! Anime is, Anime is!

“Anime is the future! A bright future waiting for us all, where we found a new nation under the banner of Truck-san! Where Mechanic builds giant robots! Where I pilot a giant robot with a katana and we kill Dracula!”

Silence reigned as Mechanic came over and put his hand on my shoulder.

“That must have been hard,” he said.

“Why?” I’ve done stuff like this everyday of my life for awhile now. Being over the top is the job of an edge lord, isn’t it?

Truck-san stayed quiet for a bit. Mechanic and I waited as I sheathed my sword. If that didn’t work, I’m out of ideas. I don’t need to sacrifice a virgin or anything, right?

“Castle says that sounds cool,” said Truck-san.

Yes!

“Castle also says the new maid is really cute. He complimented your taste in women and said that flat chests are the best.”

I facepalmed. I didn’t want to know my castle is a lolicon.

~Mechanic’s point of view~

The robot army is going well. I told Truck-san to forget about Mountain God for now, but after Vranyir went out on a fact finding mission about Dracula with Truck-san, it’s bothering me. Without the right metal, I can’t do anything! Well, I could always make a bunch of wood golems thanks to Truck-san’s collecting, and I made the castle fly well enough by using his entire armory as scrap material. But, I simply don’t have enough metal. I don’t want to piss off a Mountain God if I don’t have to. Who knows what gods can do, if Truck-san after only one day could turn into a mecha? I don’t know!

I sighed into the robot I was building. Naturally, it’s awesome. Naturally, Truck-san can talk it into becoming the perfect soldier. But it’s not enough. It needs- It needs something!

“Mechanic, I brought some food. Are you hungry?” Villager Girl A called to me from the workshop door.

“Ah, thanks. You mind listening to me for a bit?”

I rambled on to the girl as best I could. She listened patiently. Probably didn’t understand half the words I was saying, but I feel like Truck-san doesn’t either.

“So the Mountain God doesn’t want you to drill for metal because it’s noisy? Then, why don’t you use magic?”

I could feel my heart lift in my chest. Truck-san, you are a lucky ma- Truck.

“Magic? Which magic?”

It was then that she explained sound magic and sound magic runes to me. I heard a fair bit from the villagers already, but-

“Do you know anyone who can do that kind of magic?”

“Of course, Vranyir is a well known master of all forms of magic. As an edge lord, he was feared for being even greater than Court Wizard.”

“Hah. Thanks, Villager Girl A! Thanks for the food.”

Villager Girl A bowed and left. I got back to work on the robots. I know what I need now. I need weapons. In this world, for weapons, there’s magic! Can I teach robots magic through Truck-san? Only one way to find out!

~everyone’s favorite Truck-san point of view~

I drove Vranyir to Dracula’s town. We’re searching for clues on how to slay her. There’s this big castle there, really cool looking. I saw a lot of tall buildings in Tokyo, but this one has a lot of spires and arches so that’s a nice change. It’s Dracula’s castle, apparently. Vranyir told me to wait outside of town while he snuck in and investigated. Vranyir’s polite and quiet, spends his time scribbling in some sketchbook.

Seems like I only killed nice people. That’s rather disturbing! Couldn’t I hit a murderer or nincompoop or two- oh wait, i did. At least one. But, it’s strange, that felt like a long time ago. I’m idly wondering about my sanity lately. Oh well. Time to take over the world. I’ll figure it out someday. I hope? I’m a Truck, I shouldn’t be concerned with mental health issues right now. Vranyir showed up later next morning with a plan.

“Truck-san, I’ll use my position as an edge lord to get an audience. You’ll be presented as a gift to Dracula. Then, you can interrogate her when she talks to you. From what the townspeople said, she seems bored. She doesn’t abduct people as much lately. All you have to do is talk to her about herself, then I’ll visit you. Hopefully, nothing bad will happen, and if it does, we’ll raid Dracula’s castle with my castle!”

Sounds good enough to me. That castle’s a weird one though, are you sure you can rely on it? Maybe I should have said something, but I just agreed. I should be fine if it’s just a vampire and me in the room. Worst comes to worst, I’ll break out a Package Delivery to her face, and I’ll shout it out like Mechanic does this time, too!

“I’ll talk to Dracula’s castle too when I get the chance. Maybe it knows something,” I told Vranyir.

The townspeople stared with bug eyes at me as I drove through the streets. This is the first time in a long time that I’m back to driving on some sort of paved road. The stone feels nice on my tires, warmed by the sun above.  For some reason, Vranyir was putting belts on himself in my cabin. I lost count.

“Vranyir, what the hell are you doing?”

“What?”

I stayed silent a moment. Does he even know what he’s doing? He strapped on another three belts with confusion still on his face. He’s fast.

“Nevermind,” I said. There’s things I’ll never understand about humans.

“Oh! Did you mean the belts, Truck-san? Yeah, it’s part of being an edge lord!”

I understood the answer even less but I decided to drop it. Driver-san, are all people like this? Are you the only normal one?! Well, wait, Mechanic reminds me of Driver-san a bit. Maybe only Vranyir and Villager Girl A are the crazy ones. I dimmed my headlights to a slit as I drove into Dracula’s castle across a drawbridge.

~It’s the lady Dracula’s point of view~

Oh no. I sat in the throne room, clasping my wine glass filled with blood with both hands and summoned my shadow demons. I’m shaking. Today…

I’m going to have to talk to an edge lord again. It’s always bad. I end up going into the roleplaying mode I do whenever I talk, then they end up my edge lord underlings. The first was with a butcher. I thought I could get blood by myself one day, so I went down to the local butcher and tried to talk to him but-

“Become an edge lord and serve under me, or die.”

That was all I said! He groveled in front of me, and I kicked him in surprise when he clutched my leg! Then, there were three different reincarnators. All of them were japanese. My demon generals told me so, so it must true. For some reason, all of them were strong enough to fight their way through my demon generals but always lost against my shadow demons.

Seeing these strange looking humans in front of me, I thought it was the perfect chance. I could say anything! I could ask them anything! They’re scared and think I’m about to kill them but when I opened my mouth-

I immediately recited the history of edge lords to them in a smug tone. Inside, I was shaking. It’s a human! It’s a real human! How do I have a normal conversation?

My demon generals told me all about them. They’re from another world, so maybe they have no friends and only have subjects just like me! I had hope! But in the end, it was worthless. I couldn’t say anything, as I watched them grovel and cry like usual. Once I saw them, they only reported to my demon generals. Talk to them? Are you crazy? If I could do that-!

I’m never going to have a normal relationship, am I? No one’s ever going to understand me, will they?! It’s so depressing.

Then a message came from one of my demon generals the other day. Vranyir came with a “present”. He was my first reincarnator edgelord.

My heart fluttered, thinking that maybe, he decided to take the first step! He’d come to me with shiny eyes and say something like:

“Mistress Dracula, despite our positions, I cannot hold myself back any longer! Your unimaginable beauty seduced me into a helpless state at first glance! The deepest regions of my heart at that moment became yours, and even though I fear you will kill me, I need to tell you my feelings at any cost! I want to be friends with you!”

Within my heart, I giggled at the thought. There’s no way he’d say that. And isn’t that part romance fantasy? I’m sorry. I’ve never had an equal relationship, so such things are limited to the realm of romance novels to me.

In truth, my expectations are low. Vranyir’s “present” is probably some human tribute. It’s sad, but even if I hypnotise them and gingerly carry them off to my castle with the rope I prepared beforehand to avoid touching them, it makes me uncomfortable to be around a human alone. I tried to bite them myself and drain the blood, but it felt too intimate.

“It’s too soon, human, for you to get close to one as majestic as I!” I would say. That gave myself the excuse I needed to retreat to my room and cry. I’d wake up the next morning, covered in novels. Blood would be delivered by a demon general in a wine cask. I’m lucky. I let my demon generals handle the blood draining. I’m sure many have died. I never checked. I’m too scared to ask. It’s sad. But, I’m a vampire lord. It’s the world who’s wrong!

I returned to reality in my throne room, drinking the blood from the wine glass with my eyes screwed tight. I slammed the now empty wine glass down, and picked up the romance novel next to it. I’ll calm down. I can handle this. Even though I’ve failed 100% of the time that doesn’t mean today won’t be the first time I succeed! I’ll talk to Vranyir!

I heard a knock knock at the throne room door, and hurriedly tucked my novel away and cleared my throat.

“You may enter, accursed minion,” I said.

It’s second nature to me when in the presence of anyone else to snap into vampire lord mode. I don’t know why, but I can respond perfectly well if it’s like a vampire lord. I wonder if all the other vampire lords are like that?

A demon general entered, this one is Owl Demon General. He’s an owl. I think his big eyes are cute. I’ve never told him. Owl Demon General walked to the foot of the throne, kneeling and fluffing his cape aside. He closed his eyes and crossed his chest with a wing, then spoke to me.

“Mistress Dracula, the “present” arrived this evening. It is outside in the courtyard, it appears to be a giant armored carriage. Vranyir is waiting to receive you.”

I clutched the wine glass with one hand in a panic, drinking it. I realized there was no blood left so I quickly made it look like I was going for the last drop. Smooth, I complimented myself.

“Heh.”

I made a self satisfied noise as I put the glass down. I held onto the wine glass, trying to steady my nerves. Even though it’s in front of Owl Demon General, I feel like I’m going to panic! I can’t do this! I can’t talk to Vranyir! But, that carriage sounds awesome. My nerves steadied. Carriages can’t talk.

“Accursed minion! Vacate the courtyard. I will inspect Vranyir’s tribute alone! Then, I will inform you if his efforts are appreciated or not. If he has failed me, I’ll execute him myself!”

No I won’t! Why’d I say that?!

“And bring me more blood!”

~everyone’s favorite Truck-san point of view~

I’m in a courtyard of a big castle. It’s night now, it’s cool, and Vranyir got kicked out for some reason. He gave me a pained look as he left, unsure of what to do. I couldn’t respond, so I sat there with my engine off. I didn’t know if they would mind the noise or not, even if I’m idling the sound is pretty impressive. My experience with Mountain God and the villagers gave me that perspective. I’ve learned a lot. Now, there’s this girl child woman type walking towards me. She’s wearing this red frilly dress, shiny marble skin, a permanent scowl on her face with her eyebrows narrowed down.

I think this is what Driver-san would call pretty. The porn magazines Driver-san had didn’t have women like this though? I looked at her chest. Maybe it’s a boy crossdressing? I don’t want to call a girl a man, though, better go with girl? I remember someone on the radio Driver-san was playing that it’s a bad thing to do that.

She walked toward me, checking this way and that. There’s no one here. She flickered around, as if making doubly sure. She’s fast. Then, her face softened. She started looking at me. She circled around, a smile crept wide on her face. Am I good looking? I never thought about it. Maybe I should say something? But, I’m a present. But wait, I’m a spy. I’m trying to find Dracula’s weakness! Maybe this bo-, girl knows something?

“Hi.”

She shot behind a wall in shock. That’s a long way to jump. Maybe she’s a boy after all. Her pale face slowly came out from behind the wall, looking for someone.

“I’m talking. It’s me. I’m Truck-san.”

I could see her shaking. Her eyes are big. She mumbled “Truck-san” under her breath, but I could hear that.

“I won’t hurt you. I’m a Truck. We transport goods across the world and bring humans joy. Like Santa. I’m like Santa.”

Her mouth started to move up and down, but no noise came out. Then, a shaky tone.

“W-who’s Santa?”

Sounds like a girl. I stand corrected. Then again, I guess people of this world wouldn’t know about Santa, right?”

“Santa is a fat jolly man who brings all the good children of the world presents. At least where I’m from. Ever hear of Japan?”

She edged forward. Her eyes are shining for some reason.

“I have an edge lord serving under me that came from Japan, too!”

“Serving under you? You must be a big shot then, little lady. What do you do around here?”

“I’m Dracula, the vampire lord of Garish Hole Nation. N-nice to meet you, Truck-san.”

Under the moonlight, I met Dracula that night. We talked until the morning. Seems like a nice girl. I don’t know about the whole slaying her thing anymore. Better ask Mechanic when I get the chance. Slaying little vampire girls doesn’t seem like the right way to go about saving Driver-san.

Meanwhile in the divine world…

Wheel God swept off with a squeak as he saw Dracula talking to Truck-san.

“That Vranyir is useless! Let’s see what the Dracula God has to say about this!”
