Chapter 4-Bays Academy

On the way home in his carriage he was attacked by bandits, but as they were only 2 1st ranks while Ares was a 2nd so he easily dealt with them.

When Ares arrived home he told his parents about the events that transpired and his mom was dumbfounded while his father was perfectly calm.

"Congratulations son, before you go off to live in the school I have something to give to you."

Ares' father then went outside and came back with a sword that looked similar to a katana from Ares' past life.

"Is that a katana!? That kind of sword shouldn't exist in this world!", said Ares as his eyes were wide open with shock.

"This is the sword that I currently use, it is made from the matter of a black dwarf, outside of this planet. This is not the sword I am going to give you though as it weighs several hundred tons", as he said this he pulled out another sword that was similar, but was smaller and the blade was green, not black.

"This weapon I ordered for you to have a couple months ago is very powerful."

"How powerful can it possibly be, it looks too light, maybe only a couple pounds."

"This sword is made from uranium, it is highly dangerous, but if your ki control is strong enough you can handle it.", he said as he put it in a scabbard. "This scabbard can suppress the radioactivity of the sword to a safe level."

"Take it."

"But, I don't think I'll be able to control it."

"With your talent you should be able to use it"

"But...fine I guess I'll take it"

1 year later at the entrance of the academy.

Ares was stopped by a guard and he gave him his admission slip.

"Wow you're quite young to be in Bays."

"What is that supposed to mean."

"Well most of the people in this academy are at least 15 years old"

"Anyway good luck on your entrance exam"

"Wait, wait there was an entrance exam! I'm not mentally prepared for this!", said Ares as the gates were closing him in the academy.

"Well, I guess I have no choice but to go with the flow", said Ares as he walked to the chairs placed in front of a podium and took a seat.

In front of the podium stood the head of the Bays academy, the same old man the Ares met, discussing regulations and rules of the school.

After an hour of discussing, the head signaled the instructors to start the exams.

Every examiner tested 30 students by themselves which made the exam only 10 short minutes.

This exam was to test the elemental affinities of the students. Elemental affinity was useful to both warriors and mages as warriors can infuse their weapons with their affinity, for example making a 'fire blade'.

After a couple minutes it was finally Ares' turn, even though Ares knew he had no affinity because he has no mana core, there was a tiny thread of hope he was hanging on to.

"Next student please", said he the examiner

Ares then stood up and followed the examiners instructions.

"Um, n..no elemental affinity for any element", said the examiner with a disbelieving face

"Wow, no elemental affinity, how did he even get admitted into this school!?", said many people of the crowd as Ares walked back to his seat.

After a couple minutes, the exams finally finished up and the examiner said, " Now you all shall select your classes, your first class will be a beginner class, but you can move up to intermediate then advanced by showing exceptional mastery or staying in the class for a year and passing it."

The examiner then passed out slips which had selections for classes on them.

On Ares slip there were only 5 classes to choose from, they were ki cultivation, body strengthening, summoning, martial arts, and battle tactics. Ares was required to take at least 3 classes, so he decided to take all the classes except for the battle tactics class and the ki cultivation class as he wanted to do body strengthening. He also signed up to have a dorm inside the school.

One week later Ares arrived in front of his body strengthening class for his first day of school.
