Ch. 1 - Awakening Drum

“Lucas, wake up!”

Lucas’ Mom was like that, always interrupting his dreams with the boring reality of life. The dreams sometimes were very strange. His most recent dream was for some reason a bunch of Hypno playing drums. Lucas didn’t know either.

He then realized he had to go there, the existence that has no right to be, so foul that even children hate it with a burning passion. School.

The existence that shall hopefully no longer be mentioned was made even worse. Why? Because it was also a Monday.

“Lucas, do you want to be a trainer or not? I bought you a poke ball, but if you really don’t want it, I’ll just catch a rattata for you.”

Lucas immediately bolted out of bed forgetting his dreary thoughts for the excitement of a possible new trainer. So excited was the 10 year old boy that as nimble as he was, he still could not stop himself as he face planted on the floor.

——————

After Lucas went about his morning—he had been tricked by the lady—he traveled to the town’s school. Named after the town, it was known as Novan School. It was simply called school, Novan, or by Lucas and a few others, a monstrosity.

The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

In Novan, Lucas and the rest of the children in school learned about the regular school things, mathematics, writing, and all about Pokémon and how to be a good trainer for them. The other, more interesting thing(at least for Lucas) was the history of Novan Town and the Ardian Region.

In history he had learned how Novan Town was once a base for Team Nova as they explored the Ardian Region. Team Nova hadn’t been very active in recent times, more for historical significance than anything else.

The most interesting information Lucas learned in the other classes was that there were no unique Pokémon in the Ardian Region, not even a Legendary!

All this Lucas thought about, until he realized he was going to be late to class.

——————

Lucas arrived at class on-time. No matter how much the blue-haired boy wanted it to be so, it was not to be.

This was further cemented when his teacher, Ms. Nolan, commented. “Late again Mr. Guard. Go to the principal to tell your sob story this time.”

Lucas knew she didn’t like him, and that feeling was mutual. As he was leaving the classroom, his friend, Amy mouthed at him, Talk at Lunch. He nodded in response.

——————

At lunch, Lucas went to his usual spot. No matter what Amy says, it’s his spot, he was there first.

Amy arrived soon after, and immediately handed him a cookie. “Snickerdoodle this time. Baked it yesterday.”

Lucas nodded in response, said “thanks” and started chewing.

“What did Mr. Michel say?” Amy asked curiously. Lucas sighed. “I had to write, ‘Get an alarm clock’ until lunch.”

Amy burst out laughing and Lucas glared at her, “What’s so funny?”

Amy, still giggling answered, “Nothing”.

“Not. Funny.”

Amy burst out laughing again.
