Chapter 011 - Blazing Hellhound
By Skalsar
It was really funny to watch the humans panic.
They were running like crazy, falling down here and there.
But the voice was annoying.
They call it "screaming".
Well, whatever.
The reason was simple.
For the first time, the first creation of a [Collector] was found.
As it shrinked down, the humans were about to attack it.
But a [Blazing Hellhound] appeared just behind it, growling.
The [Collector] ran, the humans ran.
Only the [Blazing Hellhound] stand still.
It took them some time to realize it.
When they returned, it was already gone.
That is, because it was illusion magic.
An hour later they continued and the same thing happened again.
They must be really stupid not to notice.
Because of that, they ran again.
The illusion was even a bad one.
Some hours later, more humans joined them and they tried again.
Finally looking like they noticed that something was off.
But it happened again!
If they don't learn from it this time, I will have to try again tomorrow.
Since I don't have any more [Collectors] with magic power left to do so.
>Wait!<, one of the humans shouted.
"Hivemind" was sad.
That human killed the [Collector] with a bolt.
Seems like finally someone with a bit resistence to illusion magic appeared.
He looked through the illusion and killed the caster. Therefore, the [Blazing Hellhound] illusion disappeared.
The other humans looked stupified.
After this, they left the hive.
I guess they will tell other humans about it.

>I tell you! We thought we were done for at first!<
Everyone in the [Adventurer Guild] outpost was laughing.
>It just didn't follow us, so we hid and looked again later.
But it happened again and again!
Like the [Dungeon Lord] was just playing with us!<
The comotion was quite big. Even normal villagers listened to the stories.

>At some point, we wondered if a [Queen] would appear and give us treasure!<
Again everyone was laughing.
No one hadn't heard about the story of Lant.
A story of a [Blazing Hellhound] appearing again was sweet gossip.
But the explanation of the adventurer group was shocking and revealing.
>And then my friend here joins us and when it happens again, he just stands there.
I already made up my mind and wished him good luck in the next life I tell you!
But he just shouts "Wait!" and lifts his crossbow.
Shooting some small ass monster!<
Some other guy explained.
>Just like that the [Blazing Hellhound] disappeared.
And my friend looks at us shocked too, stuttering: Illusion Magic!<
>We fell to the ground on the spot!<
Everyone was laughing again now.
With this, the incident with Lant seemed to be resolved.
The comon story now was, that the boy saw the illusions and fell on his own axe.
Rego didn't really like it, because there still was the question about the [Queen] and treasure.
But for now, nobody cared anymore.
The dungeon got even more attention, even from experienced adventurers.
Illusion magic was quite rare and they wanted to train against it.
If you are vigilant enough, you can make out some features that tell you if it's an illusion or not.
>How was it?<, Lant asked.
>Just like the rumors say. They met a [Blazing Hellhound] but it was just an illusion.
Something that looks like a smaller variant of a [Hoarder] seems to be the source.<
Rego was carefully explaining the situation to Lant, Mardo, and his wife.
Afterwards the three nodded.
>It's best that way, I guess.
The [Local Lord] will value the dungeon much more now and deem it less dangerous.<
It was his wife who said that.
>Maybe. But we might have to take a look ourselves in the future.<, Rego finally explained.
Mardo and Lant seemed excited about that thought.
