I entered the labyrinth without thinking much more. Even if I could be giving the enemi’s ammunition to fight me, I didn’t care, since I would be rewarded twice now. The only problem was that they could split up and then attack the Skarnash Tribelands. Still, that was no longer my problem since I did what I could to slow them down. Helping people was fine, as long as it didn’t put my life at risk.
“Mew, mew, mew!”
“What is with you now? You don’t look nervous, so I guess you like this kind of environment, huh?”
Glacien looked around with her eyes shining. In any case, it was weird to see her acting like that. She was already completely covered, but she still looked quite tense before thanks to those guys.
In any case, while I wanted to see her in action, I decided to dash around and gain some distance between us and the cloaked guys. I soon slowed down when I saw some creatures emerging from the ice… They were Snow Rats based on what identification told me, two of them.
Sleek and muscular, Snow Rats looked to be built for darting through snowdrifts and icy crevices with high speed. Their large, rounded ears, slightly translucent at the edges, enable them to detect the faintest movements. When stationary, they twitch their noses, exhaling small puffs of mist into the cold air. Although their appearance may initially seem harmless, their aggressive nature and sharp features make them a genuine threat in any icy dungeon.
They were half a meter long, with thick, fluffy white fur that shimmers faintly with frost, providing excellent camouflage in snowy terrains. Their pale blue eyes glowed faintly in the dark, giving them an unsettling presence.

I put two arrows quickly in their heads… the first section of any labyrinth wouldn’t be a problem to me… the real problem was that those guys would have more creatures to turn into undeads.
It was the type of monster that would be a perfect target for Glacien, but she had to wait a bit longer. I didn’t think that I could use much of the monster, but I stored the bodies anyway. Their leather can work to make some amulets that could last a bit as long as I made them use ice-related effects. Not that I have a lot of them.
‘Rather than that, what the heck was that tentacle? I don’t think that it was a tail that belonged to them… it is also creepy the fact that it came from under their robes.’
There was still a lot that I had to learn in this world, but it was the first time that I felt that I didn’t want to learn something since it was a knowledge that certainly would traumatize me. In one way or the other, knowledge is power.
You completed a trial. Please choose between the classes: Archer, Pirate and Mage (Venom Mage).
‘Ugh… my options are terrible this time around.’
I could choose an option that would draw me in further to my vampiric heritage, another that would make some skills level up. Or I could pick the second that would grant me useless skills. The only advantage would be the parameter. I couldn’t help but sigh when I made my choice.
You obtained the Pirate class.
You improved the Strength parameter.
You unlocked the Aptitude: Captain of the High Seas.
You unlocked the skill: Boarding Party.

Captain of the High Seas: Gain bonus experience when plundering ships, navigating through waters, and engaging in naval combat.
Boarding Party - Launch a surprise attack on enemy vessels, increasing damage dealt during the initial assault. This skill allows you to quickly rally your crew increasing their strength by thirty points and overpower opponents decreasing their endurance by thirty points, ensuring a swift capture of their ship and loot. Cost: 200 Mana
Nautical Navigation - Enhance your ability to navigate through dangerous waters, avoiding hazards and enemy patrols. This skill improves your speed and efficiency at sea, ensuring safe passage for your crew and cargo. Cost: 05 Mana per minute.
The skills were truly useless. The only difference now was that I would gain experience while using my boat. I would rather avoid that since crossing any water bodies with a boat like that was the same as asking for a disaster. I decided to change my mood and then proceed.
Before long, I reached the second floor as I kept getting rid of the Snow Rats. I knew that the enemies were of the magic type, but I didn’t expect that they wouldn’t have movement skills to help them reach me.
‘Maybe they are being cautious of ambushes. Should I ambush them here already? I need to confirm if they are following me or not, after all.’
I considered my options. I was planning to let Glacien use my camouflage amulet and let her stealthily attack the snow rats, but that was no longer possible. It would be a good idea to enchant some claws for her with the Dread Enchantment, but I didn’t make claws for her yet. My gloves were too big for her as well.
In the end, I put her down to watch my back after lending her a meditation amulet. It was pretty, but she would be able to use magic a lot more with it.
“Cover my six.”
“Chi-chi-chi!”
I frowned… that was a sound that she didn’t make before. Well, she wasn’t a pokemon that could only say a few syllables, after all. Some cats could meow on Earth; that was enough to fool even some people. I just had this idea of taming a parrot in this world and teaching how to talk. It would be pretty funny if anything.
I got ready for the ambush and then Glacien went to face the possible threats that could come from behind. It didn’t take long for her to see two snow rats emerging from the corridor to face her.
Much to my surprise, Glacien used Frozen Ambush two times in a row to stick the targets on the ice and when they stopped moving altogether, she dashed toward them and bit their necks before snapping them.
‘What the heck did I tame? It suddenly doesn’t look that cute anymore…’

At least I gained some experience and Glacien returned while bringing the bodies of the rats to me… she looked very proud. At least she didn’t try to eat the monsters. Before I could take the bodies, she began to slash the body of one of the rats and then soon I found the location of a mana core.
“Nice job… although thanks to this, I had to see something gruesome and the leather can’t be used anymore.”
“Eeehhh... eeehhh...”
“Sorry. I am something of a perfectionist myself, so don’t mind me.”
With the amulet, Glacien wouldn’t recover all of her mana before the next battle, so I wondered what she was going to do. Still, before that could happen, I began to hear some sounds in the distance. I signaled for her to move away and then I used the Camouflage amulet.
After a couple of minutes, the cloaked figures emerged coming from the previous floor… they were taking their time advancing, and soon they found the bodies of the snow rats that Glacien left behind. They got ready to unleash their attacks, but they were caught off guard when the attack came from above… not exactly above them, but I was upside down with my bow in hand.
The arrow this time pierced the head of the target because the tentacle didn’t show up immediately… only a part had left the robe when I showed up. It looked like I found a weakness on their automatic guard.

I blinked in surprise for a moment… exactly 1500 experience points again? Something seemed off, but I didn’t let that bother me for long, and I fired a barrage of explosive arrows at them. I wanted to recover the body of the target and see what I was dealing with, but a bunch of the tentacles blocked my arrows and protected the enemies completely. When the smoke dissipated, I was nowhere to be seen by them.
‘Damn… I didn’t consider that they could defend themselves better by putting the tentacles as a multi-layered shield.’
I was running with Glacien in my arms. Still, that wasn’t terrible… I still had some ideas to test. I found ten enemies, and I killed one, so nine were inside the labyrinth. The others were either finding ways to repair their ships or they went to do their business on the land. Still, I could only focus on the problems in front of me.
I could tell now that the tentacles don’t react fast enough unless they can see me, so I could keep using that to decrease their numbers. The question was: for how long that would work.? It was better to dispose of them as soon as possible.
‘The silver arrows can only do so much with a barrier made with so many tentacles… I wonder if the decay arrows can work against them…’
Those were my trump card, and I only made them now and then to stay in peak condition. Regardless, I might not have to use them. Against enemies like that, I had plenty of ways to fight and decrease their numbers.
I decided to stop at the end of the third floor since I didn’t think that even with some help, Glacien would be able to get four snow rats by herself. I decided to check her parameters and frowned when I saw that she had a lot more experience than expected, even though she only killed a few monsters. It was over one thousand.
“Did you gain experience when I killed those guys, too?”
“Squeak! Squeak!”
“I have no idea what you are saying, but I will take that as a yes…”
I was expecting to gain experience from her skills, but not the inverse. Regardless, I could use her experience to increase the parameters that I wanted, so it was time to decide on her building. I couldn’t mess up here since it would decide her future. I also couldn’t think for too long since the enemies were coming.
