Interlude - Rinse and Repeat (Aqua)
If someone was to ask someone as independent as the Kobold known as Aqua if she was happy with the sort of leadership she was subordinate to, the answer may stun a few people.
“Boss is a good Boss. Don’t question it again.”
While it was expected for all Kobolds to be loyal to their Boss, Aqua was quite confident her take on their Boss was not shared by the same group due to differing reasons to trust him.
The Boss was, in her opinion, a strong Boss. And one that knew how to react not just to battle-ready situations, but also stuff that Aqua was utterly worthless about. It was no issue for her to admit it- she was a warrior and a proficient fighter, but when it came to reading, and knowing stuff that was not about swords and killing, then she was going to struggle.
Aqua was aware of her weakness, and she saw no point in improving from her current lacking ability in handling civilian affairs as she liked more to be a fighter, leaving things such as magic or civilian stuff to her ‘siblings’. That was something she didn’t see a point in complaining as it was something she understood- within a group, hierarchy was elected on the basis of capacity.
She was a speedster, something her thick legs were meant to be a clue to but that many just thought were mere ‘attractive details’. Rocky had thicker arms and less thicker legs compared to her, which made him a heavy hitter… and the ideal primary mate for someone like her due to his bouts of strength second only to their Boss.
Carrie fought too, but it was clear she was more of a bow-user as she favored ranged weapons to blades. Her precision was terrifying when it comes to being a live target, but her speed spared her from getting hit by a far too arrow-happy ‘sister’.
Training helped in developing her muscles more, her speed and pace being quite high up there but matching closely with Boss. In fact, Boss was the ‘best’ in some aspects. He was faster, yes, but not exactly good at handling the pace.
Likewise, his magic was greater than those learning it, but not as focused as theirs. He was better, but didn’t have time to train as much as they were. Something that was bad without context, but reasonable enough since he was also planning to ‘consolidate their current gains’.
That was his way of saying ‘if I am not out and doing things that are not related to self-improvement, it’s because I want you all to have a chance to live happily and never fear trouble with the dwarves’.
Aqua wasn’t sure about the rest since she didn’t spend much time studying them, but she knew there were a few of those having fun with magic, and two that were ‘exploring’ the city more.
Cloud was a feisty male Kobold, but that didn’t limit his horizon as he had some attention on him from other males. He was… odd. To Aqua, it felt confusing on why males would seek intimacy with males if it didn’t lead to reproduction but, then again, Aqua knew mating wasn’t just about producing eggs.
If you come across this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
Rosa was more interested in Boss- she had been quite possessive of him and stole most of the lottery’s chances to be bedded by him. She was his primary mate, and it was an undeniable thing when Aqua and others noticed her belly swell with a fertilized egg.
They had to have done it, so that means the boss was not against that notion.
Still, that didn’t stop Aqua from getting some action too when possible. Rocky may have been her primary mate, but no rule between them stopped any interest to broaden their intimate group.
They were the only remaining Kobolds, it was only fair to be quite eager to produce numerous children as quickly as possible- even though the Boss has been clear on not allowing any sort of ‘relentless fornication just because it is fun’.
To Aqua, that sounded fair- after all she was still a fighter. A female fighter, but still a fighter.
Which is why, out of the battlefield and into the warmth and pleasant steam of the bath back home, she found solace in the knowledge that her boss had taken refuge there too to relax and bathe.
There wasn’t much of a conversation there, merely some assistance in easing the muscles. Her legs in particular as those were the ones that tended to get stressed the most due to training.
The more she trained, the less stressed she was about it, but it was still enough to have her pursue naps from time to time to let her muscles unwind the pressure. Massaging the area never actually occurred to her as a solution to this plight, but it didn’t stop Aqua from seeing how it worked. And it did work as intended.
By the time Boss was done, Aqua felt relaxed and… interested in doing something out of this. Up to that very moment, Aqua had only planned to do something with Boss, but it never occurred to her that this was the best moment.
Yet it was, by all means, as it was best to hammer the issue now that it was within reach.
So, she decided to try it now and hope for the best.
“Boss?”
The male Kobold blinked as he finished yawning. “Yes, Aqua?"
“...Can I help you with your stress too?”
Blunt and misleading. Aqua knew the moment she was done talking she may have messed it up. That’s not to say she was nervous or awkward about it, but she wasn’t that good in conveying her interest in intimacy compared to Rosa.
That didn’t mean that Boss was stupid and he didn’t even refuse letting her help him… and then helping her back in return. There was something different between Rocky and Boss- that sounded so awkward to admit despite how true it was.
After that intense attention given to her, there was something that made her understand what was missing from the rest.
A kiss, then more, then enough to ultimately melt her up until she found her own closure on the intimacy. It was not too overwhelming, but it gave Aqua what she felt was missing- the males needed to be as loving as Boss was with them.
It was a priority! And she sought to solve this somehow by involving the other females with this knowledge.
