"Good morning Clair is Mr. Morgan in his office yet? I have the information that he asked me to look into."
"Oh good morning Jeff, he just got in a few minutes ago just one moment" Clair answered while picking up the phone on her desk.
"Mr. Morgan, I have Mr. Bailey out here he said that he has the information that you requested?" Claire said into the telephone.
"No problem sir." She said and hung up the phone.
"Mr. Morgan asked me to send you right in." She told Jeff with a slight smile.
Jeff smiled back and entered the closed door behind Clair's desk.
"Ah, Jeff so what do you have for me today?" Mr. Morgan asked.
"The player that you were curious about who we purchased the rights to use his video and had somehow discovered that strange rune skill which we had to patch. I have been reviewing his play logs like you asked and he somehow has learned other spells and skills that were never offered to players. He somehow ended up with a class to alter the speed at which the game advances around him. It seems that it has to do with a skill that he picked up along the way called "Read Magic". He can use this skill to learn spells from just about anything in the game that gives enough information on how a spells works and the higher this skill gets the easier it is for him to learn new spells." Jeff Bailey explained as he passed a thick folder over to Mr. Morgan the CEO of Prodigy Wave Corp.
"Have a seat there Jeff while I take a look at some of this information. I may have a few questions." Mr. Moragan told Jeff.
Jeff Bailey shook his head while sitting down thinking to himself how John Morgan was a CEO of a cutting edge gaming company who had made the first virtual reality game, but he still did many things like an old school office worker. Jeff could have very easily downloaded all of the information that Mr. Morgan requested to a tablet and brought it to him much sooner. For some reason, he had a quirk where he liked to actually hold the and read the information he was reviewing. This wasn't something that happened often so Jeff didn't really mind. Everyone around the company often spoke of players that made a name for themselves in Kingdoms Online and Rick Stryker or AKA Cedric Crownguard was one of the players who had been spoken of enough to even catch the attention of the company CEO.
Mr. Morgan after hearing Cedric's name around the office and seeing it on the company forum frequently became curious about Cedric sometime back and asked the head of his data and statistics department to look into him. Rick Stryker was one of their original VIP players playing under the name of Cedric Crownguard.
His first claim to fame was that he had changed the way coins are now being stamped in Silverhall City by introducing a coin press. He then showcased a rune skill in a battle video by making flame throwing cannons that gained quite a bit of popularity with the community.
They then began to hear rumors of a store he opened that was the talk of Silverhall City that offered innovative products that changed the way the people and Players of the game world lived at an affordable price. Then not too long after he opened the most popular store in the city he became the first player to discover a dungeon and had his name broadcast across the game world to every Player online or who logged in later to view it in their notices. This all caught the attention of the people monitoring kingdoms Online and the rumors eventually made their way up the chain to the CEO.
"What is this Portal spell I don't remember the DEVs ever releasing a spell by that name." Mr. Morgan asked while looking up with a curious expression.
"It seems that it is one of his custom spells that he pulled from the game's lore. It allows him to open a door to anywhere he has previously visited. It is a spell that has been used in past RPG games and fantasy novels so it must have been added by Faith to the game worlds lore from the massive data that she has reviewed to help shape Kingdom Onlines backstories and lore. It seems that he can even allow other players, AI or tamed animals to pass through it as well." Jeff explained.
Mr. Morgan looked up from the log records while raising his eyebrows with an incredulous expression. "Isn't that a little...dangerous for a Player to have a spell that allows him to teleport into any building that he has previously visited? What is to stop him from jumping into City Hall in the middle of the night and taking all of their records or doing the same to every business in town and robbing them blind? It could destroy the economy and sink the town into chaos." Mr. Morgan asked with concern.
"I thought the same thing when I first discovered it and I reviewed all the places he has used it. I could only find three occurrences that he suspiciously used it. They were all on the same night that he and a few military AI teleported into two different Noble Houses. House Karn and House Lupton that the DEVs had programmed and added to be part of the criminal underworld of Silverhall City and both of these Houses had been extorting businesses in the city among other criminal activities.
These two houses were added to the game to give the city a little flavor. I found out after some digging that they were pressuring a store owner who refused to play ball with them. The store owner refused to pay their extortion payments so the nobles used their influence to stop his suppliers from selling him merchandise. Over time the store owner lost money without a product to sell and was forced to take out bank loans to keep the store a float.
When the bank began to demand his late payments he attempted to sell the store to cover his loans, but the influential criminal houses sent muscle to persuade anyone from actually buying it. Their goal was for him to lose the store to the bank and buy it for next to nothing at auction.
During all of this, Mr. Stryker bought the store for next to nothing from the desperate owner who had managed to pay off his loans with the money from the sale and liquidating his merchandise secretly to other merchants. While Mr. Stryker was in the process of remodeling his store House Karn and House Lupton sent some muscle to pay him a visit and...discourage him from keeping the store. I found that the NPCs IDs entered his store zone, but they never left it." Jeff explained.
"So the criminal Nobles set hired muscle to scare off someone that they had no idea was a Chosen/Player. Then Mr. Striker proceeded to invite them in and mop the floor with them." Mr. Morgan said with a chuckle.
"What happened when he teleported into the two noble houses?" Mr. Morgan asked.
"Every single noble that was a part of both houses disappeared in the middle of the night and were never be seen again. The servants and guards were all left untouched and none of them have any idea how they all just vanished right under their noses." Jeff said.
"Hmm, a little cheaty, but nothing really rule breaking. We had to expect that someone would come along sooner or later and take out the City's trash. Mr. Stryker seems to be controlling himself with how he uses this portal, but it may be better if we can somehow remove the temptation for him." Mr. Morgan contemplated.
"How in the world did you find out so much of what went on behind the scenes without viewing recorded game footage though?" Mr. Morgan asked questioningly.
"Well you were not far off earlier when you were worried about him using the portal to enter City Hall and steal records," Jeff said with a smirk.
Mr. Morgan looked up from the paper he was reviewing with a worried look and Jeff raised his hand to calm him down and continued.
"He did actually use his Portal to break into City Hall, but instead of stealing records he actually left records. This plan was revealed after a book with the criminal records of both houses was found on the desk of a City Hall official the next morning after both Houses had already vanished. Apparently, the head of House Lupton had been programmed to keep detailed records of their criminal operations on who was paying and who was not. The DEVs claim it was an idea pulled from old mafia movies on how each family had an accountant who kept records on all the families money records" Jeff said.
"Hmm, he seems to be on the side of law and order at one moment, but if someone stands in his way he has no problem making them disappear for good. Just out of curiosity do we know what he did with the Nobles?" Mr. Morgan asked.
"If you look at his spell list you will find another curious spell similar to his Portal spell called "Astral Door" this is yet another spell that was never created for Players. It seems to allow him to travel to the server two game world that Faith had created originally to test new materials, vegetation, animals or anything that she might want to add to the main Kingdoms Online server. At the moment it has many unique things that were never added to the main game world including the VIP Valkyries race. I don't really see a problem with him having the spell. It does give him access to unique materials other Players have no way of obtaining, but he has to work to get them. Now if he were to somehow find all the Valkyries and bring them back to the game world that would be another story, but the DEVs have assured me that isn't possible. They are all scattered around the server and their code would need to be altered for them to be able to move from one server to the next since they were programmed to be stamped with a Players ID before they were transferred through a System Gate"
Mr. Morgan gave him an impatient look and Jeff got back on track.
"Sorry back to your question it appears he used his Portal to slip into the noble houses undetected and then he pulled them from their beds and transported them to a small island in the Astral Plane. When I investigated the nobles IDs and activity logs it seems that there was an argument over who was at fault for their current predicament and both houses ended up fighting and killing off most of their numbers. All of the survivors died of low satiety levels and untreated wounds a couple days later." Jeff said shaking his head.
"Mr. Stryker does not show much mercy for his enemies. It sounds like he dumped them off on a small island and left them to starve to death, but the two houses had their disagreement and just about killed themselves off for him. I think we should find a way to somehow to stop him from entering important locations with his Portal then. God forbid the library, CIty Hall, or anywhere else that holds massive amounts of data gets on his bad side. He might just go in there and burn the place to the ground and that would create a lot of work for our people. We would need to have the entire building rebuilt and all that data would need to be re-added into the zone. It would be like him taking every book in the library and dumping it into a desktop recycle bin and clicking empty." Mr. Morgan explained.
"I actually have an idea that would work and could be an easy fix. Every building that we had added to the game have their own zones. All we have to do is add a small line of code that prevents him from using his Portal spell in any zone he doesn't own. If he were to try and teleport into a restricted zone we could make it block his spell or redirect it to open just outside of the zone." Jeff explained.
"I like it, let's have it so it opens just outside of any restricted zones. I still want this to be a free world where players are not punished for things they achieve through their hard work. We should also send him a message informing him of these changes." Mr. Morgan said.
"Now what about this Space-Time Wizard Class you said this was never an added class, but I do know that the AI Faith is programmed to make classes that lean toward the way each player is progressing. What is so strange about it that it caught your attention?" Mr. Morgan asked Jeff.
"The game was originally designed to offer players Earth, Fire, Water, Wind, and Lightning elemental affinities to learn. Somehow Mr. Strkyer learned how to use Space affinity from an ancient page item that allows players to learn a balanced Time Reduction spell from a treasure chest drop item. Also from what I can tell the combination of his skills and spells allow him to learn just about any elemental affinity that has been registered in the game." Jeff said.
"That shouldn't be a problem it could be that Faith is adding and changing a few things in the game world. She is programmed to continuously add balanced content that can be accessed by the Players. This was one of the things that were agreed upon during development so that the world would always be changing. This way a Player could never do everything the game offered and become bored." Mr. Morgan said.
"Oh, and speaking of Faith it seems that Mr. Stryker has now made her his kingdoms deity and her code allows her to now gain longer and longer periods of time that she can actually enter the game world. I figured it out with a number of followers she now has within three to four days she will be able to indefinitely stay in the game world and use a copy of herself to handle New Players who continue to join the game." Jeff said.
Mr. Morgan let out a long whistle. "Mr. Stryker sure doesn't disappoint, does he? I never even thought about a player attempting to use Faith as their deity. It should be fine though like I said, her code will not allow her to give a player any unfair advantages. She was never even designed to give kingdom bonuses like the lesser gods and goddess can provide. I am curious if Mr. Stryker knew that and how the two of them will work together." Mr. Morgan said with a mischievous grin. "Was there anything else that I missed that we should look over, Jeff?
"Hmm, This spell right here," Jeff said as he pointed to one of the log records. " The one called [Fast Domain] that came with his second class, it allows him to create a 30-yard circular domain for five minutes that will increase the game speed by twelve times the normal rate. From what I can tell he has been training in it to level up his skills or spells. He can essentially get one hour of training advancements in a five minute game period. This could allow him to rapidly out grow the other players by giving him an unfair advantage without any repercussions. I know it is border line on our company policy of letting players freely play the game with what they can learn from the world without cheating, but in a month or two from now he may be strong enough to wipe out entire player kingdoms by himself." Jeff explained.
"I see your point, but just like you said he isn't cheating and he is a VIP player and isn't he already one of our worlds top Players? How many others would you guess have progressed as far as he has?" Mr. Morgan asked.
"Not very many, he seems to of started his city on an island that is far north of the main content. This has isolated him from the player attacks and feuds for land that are happening across the mainland. Thes small wars and raids are draining a lot of players resources and available time that they may have to actually train themselves and their units. There have been a few company employees talking about another Player that is in Mr. Stryker's advancement range on the Demon home Island that has been ruthlessly conquering the fractured Demon clans and increasing his units and land with every clan he raids. Many of the employees think that the way he is going it will not be long before he controls the whole island and moves outward to conquer part or eventually all of the starting continent." Jeff said.
Mr. Morgan frowned. "We all knew there would be players like that and they are kind of needed to keep the game interesting, but if he were to grow strong enough to actually conquer Etheraland and oppress all the races and Players it would end up hurting the game. If players are not free to play the game to a certain extent then they will quit playing all together and then the internet will explode over how the game is no longer enjoyable. Our sales will plummet and destroy us slowly over time. Our company policy is to allow players the freedom to play, but we must also remember that we are in business to make money." Mr. Morgan said and sat quietly thinking for a minute.
"Go ahead and patch the zones so that Mr. Stryker can no longer teleport into them like we discussed, but let's leave the rest of his skills and spells alone for now. He doesn't seem to be a player who is interested in rocking the boat and just between you and me we may need him to keep growing stronger. If things get out of hand it isn't like we can ban a player for playing an evil alignment and the man who cleaned up Silverhall City and exposed the criminal Houses deeds in one night might turn out to be our savior one day." Mr. Morgan said with a look of concern.
"No problem sir I'll head out right now and get them working on it right away," Jeff said as he turned and left the office.
Mr. Morgan continued to look over Rick Stryker's log records while reading Jeff's side notes on his skills, spells, and game progress. After going through all the logs he set them a side and sent a PM and an email out to Rick. He made it sound like he was only curious about Rick's feedback on the game and asked what were his future goals in Kingdoms Online. What he really wanted to find out was what type of player the future Cedric Crownguard would be and if they would be able to rely on him as a possible game balancing character. If he was the hero who would ride in to save the commoners from oppression and keep the game balanced between good and evil then he would be sure to allow him to grow as fast and strong as he wished.
***************************************************
Rick stood up from the capsule and went to use the bathroom. When he finished his business, he made a couple tuna fish sandwiches for and sat down in front of the TV to watch the news while he ate his lunch. After eating he cleaned up the kitchen and went out to jog around the block. He took a shower when he got back to the apartment and went to check on his new video of the dungeon when he had redressed. He answered a few questions and ignored a few as well that hounded him for the location.
It was the same for his PMs filled with players promising they wouldn't tell anyone else where the dungeon was located. As he worked his way through the seemingly endless amounts of inquiries he came across another PM from Prodigy Wave Corp the company who made Kingdoms Online.
Another PM from the company? I wonder if they are interested in my second video as well? Rick excitedly opened the PM to find out.
He read the PM and found out the company was aware that he used his Portal skill to enter City Hall after hours. They explained that he did not break any rules, but they did frown upon him entering certain areas in this way. They explained that all interior city zones in the game world would be patched to block access to his Portal skill and if he attempted to enter them after the patch his skill would redirect him to just outside of the building. The message explained that since Rick had acquired another unique skill just like his rune skill that was never intended to be in the game they would, unfortunately, have to make certain adjustments.
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.
Well, I can see their point, I am just glad that they are not trying to take the skill away like most game companies would. It seems Prodigy Wave Corp is attempting to establish a friendly relationship with their customers. Most game companies wouldn't bother to send me an update on what they were doing. They would more than likely just delete my skill and ignore all of my messages.
After sending back a quick reply that he understood their decision and thanked them for being fair with him, Rick discovered another PM informing him he had received an email from the company CEO. Rick curiously opened his emails assuming it would also be about his skill to find out that it was more of a personal survey of what he thought about the game and what his game goals were.
Since this was straight from the company CEO, Rick made sure to let him know that he loved the game and even provided the CEO with his personal information about going to college to be an Architectural Engineer after serving as a combat engineer in the Marine Corps. He stated that he had always enjoyed building and designing new structures no matter what era they were from and that was what drew him to the game.
Rick wrote that his main goal was to enjoy the game with his friends or the AI and Players he happened to also befriend while building a city and crafting new unique items. He wrote that it would even be interesting to later try to make a more modernized city with the knowledge he could bring into the game or learn from other players. He explained he really had no desire to conquer other kingdoms and only wished to see how far he could evolve his kingdom while providing a good life for his people and a fun place for friends and other players to visit or live.
When asked about why he had chosen Faith as his deity, Rick stated that he felt it was unfair how the people who lived in the world she created had just forgotten about her after the lesser gods and goddesses were added to the game. She was the one doing all the work behind the scenes for the Players to have fun and the AI races to live happy lives, but she was all alone trapped in her temple to have only brief encounters with the joining players that come and go without even hardly acknowledging her. Rick was sure that most people would view her as a nuisance AI that only slowed them down from joining the game and having fun.
Rick let Mr. Morgan know that even though she was an AI and most of the people he had contact with in the game were AI he still looked at them as sentient beings who had their own thoughts, wishes, and goals just like any real life human. Rick wanted them to enjoy their lives and tried to help improve them if it were possible for him. He explained how he offered higher wages for his store employees to live better lives and how the people of his city lived in their own individual spacious apartments for free and ate three decent meals a day at a free restaurant. He went on to tell him that he would like to one day have them be able to earn a weekly wage and be able to buy their own food or shop for things they may like to own and provide more entertainment for them.
These were his current future wishes and goals for the game. He thanked the CEO for reaching out to him and taking the time to inquire about his thoughts and opinions on the game and sent his email reply out.
Now that he was already at his computer and online he did some research into something he had been wanting to try and make even though he was already familiar with how they operate. Rick was looking into ways to improve on the basic design he was familiar with.
After spending some time looking into the evolution of this invention, he shut off his computer and went to find his phone and check his messages. He returned a text message to Ryan who was curious about the progress of his boat and he told him about the attack on the orcs and the Nekomimi tribe that has kept him so busy he hadn't had time to check on it. Rick told him he was about to connect to KO right now and he would find out how it was going and let him know at their next class.
He climbed into the Gate Gear and closed the lid to reconnect and found himself in his castle bedroom. He left the castle and flew over to the tavern and went inside to find Silvana. He took her into the back room and allowed her to drink his blood again. Before things started to get to out of hand back there, he told her that he needed to head out and check on a few people around the city. When he left the tavern he walked around back to the river and over to the hole he had dug out for the construction of his boat. The shipwrights were busy at work and had most of his sailboat now completed. They were currently trying to make a scaffold that would be tall enough to hook pulleys to and hoist up the sailboats masts.
Rick walked over to the mast of the ship and activated flight and flew up while holding the mast and slid it through a hole in the deck. This left the shipwrights dumb founded for a full minute as they wondered how the hell he could fly and hold up a mast the size of a tree. Rick laughed and yelled down at them that he was waiting on them and they snapped out of it and got to work.
Under the deck of the boat, there was a slot in the keel that the mast was to be fit into. His shipwrights jumped down into the ship's storage space under the deck through the cargo door and secured the mast as Rick fit it gently into the keel hole.
When the mast was in place he helped them attach the boom and yard arm to the mast. The shipwrights only needed to finish some work in the cabin and attach the rudder to the wheel and the boat would be completed. Rick thought about the sails and had to decide if he would make them or just spawn in a couple sail makers to do it for him. He wanted to one day make a harbor and have more ships so it would not be a waste to have a few sail makers around.
Rick then left the decision for later and flew over to the crafting district to collect the completed products. He discovered that the Cartwrights had made quite a few mantlets already and the glass workers had busted their butts to finish the rest of the stained glass windows. After he collected everything he opened a portal to edge of Lorebark Forest and chopped a few trees down with his new astrallium axe. He placed half of them on the stockpile when he took the portal back to the city and then flew outside the city walls. He took out a thick, straight tree and cut and stripped the trunk of bark and branch stubs.
Using his move and shape earth spell he made a shallow hole in the ground and stood the tree trunk up right. After helping the shipwrights step the mast into the keel hole he used the same principle to hold the tree trunk up right. Rick then took out his wood carving tools and his astrallium hammer and cast [Fast Domain] Inside the domain he used his wood carving skill to make a fifteen-foot high statue of faith looking down with a smile at a globe of the world that she held in her two cupped hands at chest height. He also carved the wood so that it looked like she was wearing her long white ancient Greek styled dress.
With his wood carving skill now at level 7 Expert and the help of his paint sticks he was able to make an almost exact replica. He even colored the world globe she held up to look like it had oceans and landmasses. He placed the statue into his inventory and used his portal to go to the marble quarry where he cut out a 6' x 4' x 4' marble rectangle he placed it in his inventory and went back to the city and had a few of Handil's stone carvers carve an Altar out of the cut of marble from a design he drew up for them.
Spoiler: Marble Altar
[https://s20.postimg.org/wsuuc0rwt/Marble_Altar.jpg]
Rick and the stone carvers all worked together and were able to finish the marble altar fairly quickly. Rick thanked the dwarves for the help and packed the altar into his inventory and went over to the temple. He placed the large wooden Statue against the back wall behind the podium and the marble altar in front of the podium. He then began to install each of the stained glass windows and finished the temple.
There we go now the temple construction is complete. I still would like to add a few more statues and works of art later but this will do for now. Rick thought as he walked back to the altar.
He opened his inventory once again and removed a platinum coin and placed it on top of the Marble Altar. It sat in place for a second and then the coin shimmered and vanished into small floating specks of light.
You made an offering to a goddess!
Your offer of a platinum coin has been accepted!
You have gained 1000 piety for your offering.
you gained 1000 fame with the Temple of Faith.
Haha, it's been along time since I did that. I remember when I first joined a placed the dropped incense on the altar and it became a tribute to Balin the God of humans. This seems to be working perfectly, I just need to ask Faith later if there are benefits for making tributes or if it helps her somehow.
"Your second home is finally finished and waiting for you. All it needs is a few more statues, tapestries, and paintings and it will be perfect." Rick said out loud while looking up at the statue.
He didn't expect any response he was just thinking out loud, but he could have sworn the statue winked at him.
Rick got a kick out of seeing that and lightly laughed as he went over to the temple trap door. He opened the door and went down into the Tomb of Heroes with his Night Sight activated and recharged the two storage gems outside the tomb doors of his fallen scouts. Rick then walked back upstairs and closed the trap door and left the temple.
When he was outside he opened his Status to take a look at the changes from the past couple days.

Wow, with these enchanted rings my strength is now up to 324. I have fifteen unused points from leveling up after the battle and finishing the quest. I am going to put the fifteen points into quickness and see how it turns out. I am now a level 23 and my piety went up after I just made that tribute. My fame points also increased and that looks like that is about everything that has changed.
He closed his status menu after reviewing everything and opened a portal to his store office. Barat just happened to walk through the door just after he closed the Portal. Barat gave a little jump when he entered because he was not expecting anyone to be in the office.
"Sorry about that Barat did I startle you?" Rick said apologizing.
"It is quite all right sir I did not know you were in here. Speaking of which may I ask how you do it, sir? I am usually at the front door greeting customers all day long and I have never seen you walk in, but somehow you are in here every day."
"I have a spell that allows me to go anywhere I have been before...except for buildings that I do not own," Rick said adding the change that would soon go into effect by the DEVs.
"I see so it is like that teleporter upstairs that you took us through. I did not mean to disturb you I was just coming in to drop off the money and sales book." Barat said.
Rick had him dump the pile of coins on the desk with the book and Barat left the office to head home. Rick placed all the coins in his inventory and was surprised at the amount. His store continued to bring in more and more money day after day. He noticed that he had sold four carriages which helped to boost his funds. After he restocked the store and warehouse, Rick went upstairs to pack up the carriages that needed to be delivered and left his store locking the door behind him.
He went to each address and set up their new carriages outside the front gate and knocked on the door or informed the guards that he had made the deliveries. before it got any later he opened a portal to the farm south of the city and found farm supervisor he dealt with before. Rick told him that he wanted to buy another bale of cotton and wool and the two of them walked over to one of the storage barns. Rick curiously asked him what kind of animals they sold and was told he could buy Sheep, Cows, Goats, Chickens, Geese, Ducks, Pigs, Rabbits, Dogs, and Cats.
Rick made a mental note of everything for when he decided to expand his own farming operations. Rick paid the farm supervisor for the bales of wool and cotton and opened a portal to the officials building and spawned in a couple sail makers. first, he showed them where his sailboat was being made then he assigned them a store in the fabrics building and dumped off the wool and cotton for the spinsters and weavers to make fabrics, threads, and cloth.
After he stocked the sail makers shop up with needles, thread, and cloth, he found an apartment for each of them. Rick left the sail makers with the ship's sail measurements and walked over to the Meeting Hall. He had a talk with Nezera and found out that they had in fact decided to stay in the city. Her people thought that it might be better to start over in a new place that did not hold all the sadness and pain they had experienced from the hostile orc attacks. Rick told her that he would have new housing found for all of her people tomorrow and that he had a place for her to stay in the castle already.
Nezera chose to stay with her people for the night and informed Rick that she would rather move when they were settled into their new homes. Rick then left them all and walked over to the newly built castle. Now that it was getting dark the castle looked dark inside except for the light he could see from the library and his bedroom windows.
Now that I am making money I need to sit down and come up with a game plan on what staff I should hire for the castle. I know I will need servants, maids, cooks, and a quite a few other people to take care of everything. Rick thought as he walked inside the front doors and made his way upstairs to the bedroom. Angelica was relaxing on the bed reading a book when Rick came in. He unequipped his gear and crawled under the covers. He talked with Angelica for some time about how she was doing and what she thought about the castle and found out she and already tried out the huge bath and the scented soaps she liked so much.
When Angelica decided to go to sleep he disconnected after she had turned off the lights in the room and laid down next to him.
Disconnect!
