The heat of the Flamestar year after year, as well as the fierce winds from the north and roaring waves quickly transform it into a desert. There is a period of perpetual darkness. Blessed with a relic from Lumenaris, the Candle of Alnoor, Zyla leads the survivors to an unscathed patch of green in the heart of the wasteland, where the encampment becomes Nabirah. This is the most important holiday of the Nur people, the Hazz Al-Lail Al-Azali. (The Pilgrimage Through the Long Night). In the newly founded refuge, the Lyban champions assemble under the wandering Rabani warrior, Yolgar, believed by some to be the incarnation of Yol himself, who is crowned King of the Lyban race. This belief enhances national pride that the Noor are the rightful religious leaders of Etria. After the Conquest

Fyor’s death, upon advice of a powerful Venganzi sorcerer, Grand Vizier Azhim Al-Zummurud, started a holy war with Fiora for their refusal to accept the Nur-Yidi. Southern Fiora was conquered, but King Fyorcar preserved the North and created a stability by holding the line at a chokepoint in central Fiora, which became the Great Fioran Rampart. In the latter years of the reign, the loose peace broke and Lajal sacked Fioranz by sea, forcing King Granitcar to make conciliatory peace with the Nur once again, forcing payments of exorbitant tribute to the Sultan. The Sultanate becomes an empire and arguably the most powerful Lyban civilization in Etria. Azhim Al-Zummurud enchants the Den of Glory and Excellence.

Lajal was ultimately slain in his sleep by his cousin, Qasimaz, who coveted his throne.

In the chaos, Captain of the Hamyir, Makar Al-Khyin seizes the opportunity to breach the Den of Glory and Excellence, he disappears, and his account is printed by his son, and spread throughout the world. It is treated as thrilling fiction.

The Nur-Yidi is added to, multiple times, drawing ire and pushing away religious commonality with the North and Mystalbion. Poverty, internal strife, and extensive warfare occurs throughout the Nabi. The Northern League is formally assembled, and leads five crusades to address the "instability" and "wickedness" of the Sultanate over the Nur-Yidi. Nabirah is ruled by several warlords, Nur, and foreign, but no Sultan until the rise of the Al-Amin dynasty, whose rise is marked by the expulsion of all Venganzi viziers and non-Nur descendants from court, and brutal suppression of religious minorities and scientific communities.

Sultan Fazil Al-Amin II

A mild-mannered, gentle Sultan. Almost universally beloved by his people, he is father to a daughter, Kaida al-Amin. There is a looming succession crisis because she is still unmarried, and approaching middle-age, and plain-faced with freckles.
