Synopsis
In the mystic desert wastes, an enigmatic burglar named Íbolín languishes in prison. Behind bars, he meets a mysterious magician named Nedraj who has traveled over sea and sand with a sizeable mercenary company from the far north, the Merchant Republic of Rajar. They have come secretly, chasing whispers of a glorious artifact. A relic believed to be in the forbidden treasury of the Sultan himself. A makeshift alliance is formed between the two in an attempt to retrieve it -- should it truly exist.
But as they journey deeper into the heart of the desert, they realize that the artifact they seek may be more than just a simple relic & the lines between reality and mythology are tested. The Flamestar beats upon their backs as they navigate the mirages of day and brave the wraiths of night. They must move quickly. The dogs of the Venrex are sniffing out their trail, and all the while, the moon rises higher in the sky... something ancient and powerful is watching their every move, waiting for its chance to strike. Will they succeed in their quest, or will they succumb to the creeping darkness?
Kingdom of Eternal Moonlight is a complex, over the top, complete fantasy mythology with horror elements, inspired by Raiders of the Lost Ark, Aladdin, The Legend of Zelda, Fire Emblem, and Castlevania. It is a fantasy history whose backstory is written inspired by the Historian Fernand Braudel, who wrote the Mediterranean. It isn’t shy about its several tropes, but to the faithful, they will give way to satisfying sophistication by the heart of the narrative.
Notes: This is my first draft; I am sure there are several errors I have overlooked, they will be corrected. About AI-Assistance: I do use AI to help correct my work and eliminate redundancy in my choice of words and fix (obviously) my grammar, asking it to help me rephrase things at times. I do not simply copy and paste. There may be runoff, but these are my words and my story. I also use AI to create concept art to help enhance the understanding of the story at this time and to keep me motivated. I am an artist and will create original images like those seen in the footnotes when I finish the work and can dedicate time to the process. Otherwise, I create and design all my own cover art. I did not create the chapter headers, but I cut them together, sized them, and juxtaposed several. They are licensed for my use. I hope you enjoy Kingdom of Eternal Moonlight as much as I enjoy making it; thanks for giving it a chance. - K.G. Rankin
