Spirits
Before the invasion of the demon beasts, spirits were once living peacefully with the humanity. They teach magic to the human, they created living forest everywhere they go, they created armors and weapons that could be called sacred treasures, they could purify the most toxic water to a fountain of clarity, they were most revered existence by the spirit beasts and elves living in the forest, those spirits were loved by the nature and spirit beasts. Human that had the chance to be loved by the spirits could form contract with them, becoming a spirit user and receiving a huge amount of spiritual power. There are all kind of spirits in the world ranked by grade but most of them were listening and obeying to only one of them.
The king of spirits
The king of spirits was a royal bloodline that could live for more than thousands of centuries. He was someone who reign over the spirits and rules over the spirit world. He was the strongest existence and revered among the spirits, he helped the humans when they were in the most difficult situation against the demon beasts and created forest helping the elves to create a new home, he also created amazing weapons with his knowledge and magic, he was the most loved existence among the spirits, he was the one who brings them to their glory.
Every five hundred century, a new king is born. Once the new king is born, the knowledge and memories of the last king are imprinted in the child’s body and until that his power is awoken, the knowledge, memory and magical power will be restricted until then. That is the reason why once the new child is born, most of the strongest spirits are coming back to the spirit world far away in a secret place in the continent to protect the newly born future king.
This time, the newly child was a mix. Half spirit and half human. His mother was a human and his father was the king of spirits. Zephyr, who was the king of spirit fall in love with Athena, a young and frail abandoned princess. Athena has been deserted from her country because of the coronation of his brother, Daargul the new king of the Qian empire. She has been found unconscious in the woods and taken care by Zephyr. She became unable to walk because of her health and stayed most of the time in the castle after Ifrit’s birth.
A lot of spirits were against the coronation of such a child but in the end, no one could dare oppose the king. One day, when the child was playing outside the spirit world, he has been kidnapped by robbers and sold to a slave dealer. The slave dealer engaged a lot of mercenaries and prepared a trap against the spirits. Cairn, one of the most trusted and best friend of the king came with his troops to save Ifrit, but has been caught and slain by the mercenaries.
Cairn always believed and thought that human were all kind and trusted friends. He always interested by them and always tried to visit the human’s kingdoms when he was free. Zephyr who always know Cairn, learn about their mentality. He learned that some humans can be kind and others can be arrogant and cupid. Zephyr was cautious and didn’t totally trust them but only after meeting Athena, he opened his hearth and became friendly towards them.
When he learned about Cairn’s death, he directly sends an investigation team investigating Ifrit whereabouts. During the same time, the Xavi’us the current demon lord who manipulated the slave dealer and kidnapped Ifrit, decided to invade the spirit world at the same time. The war against the demon lord’s army and the spirits occurred.
Losing eighty percent of his power because of the coronation of the new child Ifrit, Zephyr didn’t have enough strength to repel Xavi’us and died with Athena with most of the spirits during the war. The spirits world vanished from that day.
The slave dealer and the mercenaries descended the mountain but were attacked by a sect protecting the mountain and revering the spirits. They were a tribe that isolated from the humanity and received immortality as reward and have sworn to protect the spirits.
An elder named Kang Min was the leader of the Kang sect, welcomed Kael, who was Cairn’s son and with Ifrit and few of his father’s retainers decided to hide in their village to protect Ifrit. Kael also respected Cairn’s dream so he decided to trust Kang Suo and told him about Ifrit.
Kang Min swore and took Ifrit under his wing. They decided to change his name to hide it from the demon lord Xavi’us and name him Kang Yan.
Kang Yan didn’t have enough magic power to become a magician thus, Kang Suo decided to train him to become a strong Qi cultivator instead. Under his wing, Kang Yan trained his body, mental and healthy condition until he reaches fourteen years old.

The day Kang Yan finally reaches fourteen years old, Kang Min decided to told him the truth and everything that happened. That day, he was in the village’s elder house sitting on seiza waiting for his grandfather Kang Min to speak.
“My grandson Kang Yan…Today you are now 14 years old. I must to tell you the truth that I’m hiding you until now.”
Kang Yan always loved his grandfather Kang Min. He didn’t remember the face of his mother nor father, but he already guessed later that they died when he was young. Even though his grandfather Kang Min was harsh with him and trained him to the point of dying, he was still grateful to him because he always took care of him more than anyone else. Kang Yan was loved by the villagers, by his uncle Kael who was like a Sparta trainer coach for him and Carin’s retainers becoming his new personal guards. He was remembering all those memories that his grandfather Kang Min gave him and was thankful to him. He didn’t talk and only glare at the ground and was deep in thought.
After reaching 14 years old, you become an adult and can freely explore the world. Kang Yan couldn’t leave the village until now and his dream was to explore and visit the world. He was feeling excited but at the same time regretful because he knows that he must to part with his grandfather if he decides to leave the village. He thought that his grandfather would oppose a little but unexpectedly it was about something else. He regained his sense and look at his grandfather then spoke.
“Grandfather…I want to leave the village after all! I want to explore the world and meet humans! I want to know where mother home place is.”
His grandfather nodded. Kang Min know about Kang Yan’s dream. He was sad about letting him go but at the same time it was his duty to let him go and explore the world. He could only frown his eyebrows and with a sad tone said.
“I know Kang Yan…You always train hard and you are now the strongest inside the Kang sect. We don't have anything else to teach you. You can leave the village tomorrow and explore the world. But before that happen, I need to tell you about your origin.”
He looked at the window and after a moment of silence explained.
“Your father was the king of spirits. He was an existence revered in the world. Unfortunately, he died eleven years ago, during the demon lord’s army invasion. Your mother, Athena also died during the invasion and only you who was caught by slave dealer with Kael survived. You must to never forget your duty and become strong enough to save the world. Tonight, the memories of your father should appear inside your mind. His knowledge and your magical power will be released and you can finally be able to use magic. You will be the savor of the world, but right now you still don’t have enough power. You need to become stronger. That’s why you must to go to a human city and go to school. Even though I still want you to stay here…I know that I can’t stop you from leaving the village.”
The information given by his grandfather shocked him a lot. He didn’t have enough information until now. He only knows that they died when he was young that was all. Learning that he was half human and half spirit surprised him. The most shocking fact was his father being the king of spirits. He never thought until now that he had spirit blood inside his vein. He could only stare lost in his mind. His grandfather took out from a drawer a ring and a scroll and put them in the table in front of Kang Yan and spoke.
“This is an interspatial ring and our secret cultivation’s scroll. You should learn this scroll before leaving and keep the ring with you. Inside the ring there are few treasury weapons and scrolls from the Kang’s sect. You can use them freely as you want.”
Kang Yan could only drop of tear receiving his grandfather’s gifts. Even though he wasn’t his grandfather, Kang Min was his only family since he was young, for Kang Yan, Kang Min is already part of his family and his real grandfather even if he became the king of spirits. He will never forget his grandfather and still had a lot of things to learn from him.
“Grandfather…”
Kang Yan couldn’t find words to say to his grandfather and how much he is thankful to him and just received the presents with his tears that couldn’t stop dropping. His grandfather could only turn away from Kang Yan’s view and with a resigned tone.
“Just go rest, it’s already late, you don’t need to train tonight. Just wait for dinner and prepare for tomorrow.”
Kang Yan slowly left his grandfather’s room and headed towards his room. He already prepared everything to set off early and didn’t need to do anything else. His mind was perturbed and at the same time guilty because he couldn’t remember about anything until now. He was just deep in thought about tomorrow’s departing and the now world awaiting him.
Suddenly, flashes of memories start to appear though his mind. Kang Yan could see his father memories starting to slowly appear inside his mind. It was like a dream that appear slowly in front of him starting from his birth, to his death.
For the first time, he finally remembered the face of his father, Zephyr the king of spirits and his mother Athena, the princess of the Qian empire. He also saw the memories of his knowledge, and magic spells and memorized it deep inside his brain. It was like his own soul fused with his father and gain his memories, knowledge and magic spells. He learned throught his father's memories Xavi'us plans.
The demon lord Xavi'us intended to manipulate the Qian empire and trigger a war between the Qian empire and the other kingdoms. Once the humanity are fighting between them, he was aiming to summon a gate summoning the true demons coming from hell invading the world.It was an unbearable pain going through his brain immobilizing him on his bed for the whole night. Kang Yan woke up on the next morning with his father’s memories and decides to explore the world to become stronger and one avenge his family and the spirit race who extinct after Xavi’us invasion.
