Third Person
~
Kira is stumped, reasonably so, especially with all that's happening right now but her gut instinct is to trust the Demons. She knows it's unreasonable but she can't feel anything from this Ryoichi guy other than what he presents; a confident, righteous aura with a hint of pride.
It's too perfect.
She makes her staff vanish and raises her hands as a peaceful gesture, "Listen, I'm sure you mean well but I can't just hand over the Seal because you tell me to, Mocizuki-san."
A look of slight amusement graces his features, like he finds her diplomacy funny, "You don't really have a choice on the matter. I've informed The Shuken Kantoku-Sha of my concerns and they plan to hold an assembly addressing your 'team's' actions and your worthiness of this position."
Mammon looks about ready to toss himself at the white-haired stranger and rip him to shreds. He points an infuriated finger, "Listen here kid, The Keeper doesn't have to do anything they ask for. We agreed to this several years ago-"
"'As long as The Keeper doesn't threaten the safety of the human plane they are free to do as they please.' Yes everyone is very well aware of that pact between the Keepers and The Overseers," Ryoichi snaps.
Kira can only take so much before she starts to feel dumber by the second as she's failing to understand what their saying now, "What the hell The Overseers?"
"The Shuken Kantoku-Sha, The Tokyo Sovereign Overseers that deal with magic-related business in Tokyo, and all of Japan," Troy explains easily.
She would have preferred a little bit more elaboration but they could deal with why no one had mentioned anything to her later, "So they made this pact thing with the first Keeper right?"
Mammon nods, "It holds up as long as your activities don't cause any trouble."
The relief that washes over her is however short lived as Ryoichi wags his finger, "Correct me if I'm wrong, but a Keeper who isn't Pure of Heart and is likely to turn evil if she continues using the Seal is very much considered a threat," he paces in front of the four, their eyes following his every moment even though his scrutinize their shabby training space, "You'll also be held accountable for your team's lack of discretion in dealing with threats and let's not begin to talk about the property damage."
"If this is about the boats, people were literally about to drown," Kuro points out.
"And what the hell is property damage?" Kira makes a short pfft sound after, as far as she was concerned, they limited the amount of damage done during fights.
This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.
"The park, the street where we fought Nightmare, the temple we rescued the brat from, the three districts we damaged battling Arius, and there are probably others I can't name," Troy lists almost stoically.
The brunette flinches, rounding on the guys, "We actually have to take responsibility for those?! WHY DIDN'T ANYONE TELL ME?!"
"The government actually takes responsibility but The Overseers are tasked with making sure it's kept to the minimal to avoid detection by humans," Ryoichi explains, clearly exasperated at her ignorance and how someone like this had actually managed to get this far.
She sighs, pinching the bridge of her nose to will some calm into her system. There was a council monitoring them she never knew about, and if this Ryoichi guy was being serious right now, they might force her to hand over the Seal even though she knew she absolutely couldn't let that happen.
Not knowing what to do was an understatement but she wasn't going to let some random strangers undermine everything the three of them had gone through to protect the city and its people.
"There were people in danger in all these incidents, we did what we had to," she states.
"But it could have been done more efficiently...you agree with me right?" Ryoichi suddenly turns to Troy who barely seems mildly surprised he was brought into this.
Kuro takes the offensive quickly, clearly offended on behalf of the others that they're being looked down on. He swoops forward, breaching Ryoichi's space and stopping just a few inches in front of his. The gust from his wings is powerful enough to send scrap metal around them flying. He was not tall enough to loom over anyone but he cuts an intimidating presence still.
He jabs a finger into Ryoichi's chest, and growls, "Listen here, you don't get to show up after whining to the higher-ups like a crybaby and judge our team."
"You're a cute attack dog but I wasn't talking to you child," Ryoichi grins.
Before Kuro can up to attack, Kira breeches the space between them, "Kuro," she doesn't want to sound reproachful because she too was holding back the urge to sock this bastard one on the jaw.
Troy pulls Kuro back by his scarf and sets his sight on Ryoichi, "I agree but Demona is right in saying we only did what we could as a team of three with limited options, not everyone can wait for the Overseers arrival."
Kira hadn't expected much but even that much is appreciated since it's Troy of people . She turns around to see the former disciple's expression has changed to one of disappointment but the brief victory is shut down as Troy apparently had more to say.
"Nevertheless, It's best we hand it handover."
Gasps of surprise and confusion come from the others around him. Mammon snarls and is about to snatch Troy up by the collar which would inevitably lead to a fight so Kira breaks the connection keeping him in the mortal plane before he can.
Kuro on the other hand can't be vanished away so easily, he tugs Troy's braid, "What the hell Angel boy?!"
"Hands off, brat!"
"Not until you tell me why you're saying that!"
It takes all of Kira's self-control not to join the fight as well. Ryoichi's sardonic chuckle forces her to face him once again.
"It's a miracle you three have made it this far," he states easily.
"You don't know half of it," she hisses, "Listen, I'll play your game and face the council or whatever, where do we meet them?"
"Your friends should know," he replies kicking a piece of metal out of his way as he turns to make his leave, his coat billows out behind hums and he peers off over his shoulder, eyes flashing in the moonlight, "Get your team in order 'Demona', and say your farewells as it's very likely your last day together."
