What inspired your story, like was there a particular anime, manga, light novel or movie, or even a particular artist that played a key figure in your inspiration?

✨A

It's a bit embarrassing, but I can't remember exactly what inspired me to write this series. It was more a series of events and interests leading up to it. The Shazam movie sparked my interest in the 7 deadly sins of man. The 7 Deadly Sins anime made me interested in demons. Hiro Mashima's beautiful characters and emotional adventures in Fairytail sparked my interest in creating my own long-running action series with fun characters. KDF was inspired by many things but my main driving force is my need to see this story to the end no matter how rocky it gets.

How are Demonas picked?

✨A

Keepers live for so long that they don't know when they'll die but since the Seal can only be passed to those with the Universe's blessing called the Pure of Heart, they tend to orbit whoever they find with that gift in case they sustain a fatal injury. If they do outlive that person they move on to find the next human with that gift. Kira is the fifth Keeper and she just happened to be where fate or misfortune needed her to be.

How did Demons Originate?

From the darkness of man's evil intentions, malevolent spirits of the dead created the thick miasma of the spirit world that only the most evil souls can absorb on their entry to the spirit world. Some of the more fortunate of these souls may gain the power to accomplish the desires they once had in the human plane but they are forever cursed with horns that burn and the unquenchable thirst for humanity; be it soul, blood, or flesh. Very few souls retain their sanity after awakening to Demonhood, some wander around in madness until they come around or eventually become lesser evil spirits.

I really liked Momo and Jade's dynamic and the Kira-Momo-Jade trio in the beginning, do you plan on making them a part of the main story? Or are they going to stay as supporting characters?

✨A

I'm very happy you like them, Jade went through changes I wasn't sure of from her original character while I left Momo as she was and I've been questioning since haha. I do have big plans for them and they both get their time to shine alongside the main trio but as their roles are still a kind of work in progress so I can't say they'll ever be fully "main cast" at the moment.

I'm always curious about other's writing process, did you start KDF with a plan for the plot and an idea for how the story will end? What came first, the characters or the story?

✨A

Quite frankly, I think the characters did come first. I love the sound of vermillion as a name and couldn't stop saying it which gave me an idea for Kira's character. Later on, I thought it would be cool if she had two sidekicks who so happened to have angel wings but weren't related. Characters usually always come first for me and at the start of the writing process, I tend to go with the flow. I have bits and pieces of the beginning middle and end and a couple of cool scenes but I tend not to think a lot. I just have fun because if I end up not vibing with the story I tend to drop it. It's only about 20 or so chapters later when I'm invested that I really start to think ahead and make rough drafts for every chapter while trying to make the story more cohesive. This method probably won't work for everyone though but I love to encourage starting writers to have fun with their work and fall in love with their characters.

Which character do you like the most, the least, and why?

✨A

For my most liked character, definitely has to be Kuro, I love him so much. Fun fact I actually switched his and Troy's personalities from my original short comic of the story and I instantly realized the cheery menace with a slightly calculating edge vibe fit him a lot more. There's just so much to do with him but it comes so late in the story I feel like I'm leaving him out a bit. He encouraging and kind even when he feels he should let his emotions go. He hates when he becomes something else but he's willing to surrender to be strong enough to protect others or meet his ends and it's interesting for me to think of how he'll overcome that. For my least favorite character, it's a bit hard to pick one since I have a bit of affection for all of them but I'll have to say Lucifer, I like him sometimes and I hope to work on him in the future but for the meantime, he's so mean and definitely not telling all. Troy's right when he says Kira doesn't know what her demons do when not with her.

Do you have any other projects in mind besides this one?

✨A

Yes. Two actually. They're both Action-fantasy stories but while the first one "Spectre" falls on the Magic-mystery side, the second one, "Cash-in Fever" is more sci-fi superhero based and it'll have a male lead which I've been itching to get to. I really wish I could work on all three at the same time but I'm already stretched so thin with KDF so they'll have to wait. "Spectre" though was written as an entry for a Wattpad anthology book and the only chapter, for now, which I plan to build on is up. Anyone interested just let me know and I'll put it on this site as well. Maybe I'll do something of the sort for "Cash-in Fever" as well once KDF is finished we'll have a vote or something haha.

It's one year since I started writing KDF, there have been several highs, lows, and occasions I considered dropping the series but thanks to your support I was able to push through.
