“Nope. All new souls end up as human at the start but they can later choose to deviate from the human base race. Some will alter their race greatly to the point of Dragons or Leviathans, which are space whales, while some can choose for small adjustments like Elves, Dwarves or the rare High Humans.”

“Any adjustments to your appearance?”
“Hmmm… reduce any features that might stand out.”
