A Wish Upon a Star (Prologue)

A Wish Upon a Star (Prologue)

Putting it lightly, the room stunk.  Ramen containers were strewn across the floor and table. Soda cans and chip bags, lied around the room creating a pool of trash.  The curtains were pulled shut, and not even the tiniest streak of light glanced in.  In this pig sty, a boy with glasses sat with crossed legs in the middle of the dump.  Not even blinking when left knee touched an oily potato chip bag, or when his right knee felt wet after hitting a bowl of ramen he forgot about.  On his lap was an aged and heavy computer.  This computer struggled to carry its strain as it huffed loudly.  During this, the boy carried an a determined look as he quickly spammed keys on his computer.  Yet when he finally had a trace of a smile on his scowling face, the light reflecting in his glasses suddenly vanished.  He abruptly stood up and raised the computer over his head before slamming it down.

A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

After, he agressively glanced around with his fists close as if to lash out at a person.  Minutes passed as silence slowly crept back into the room.  On an impulse he dragged his feet over to the window and whipped open the curtains.  When he gazed at the night sky, bright stars lit up the heavens. His disheveled hair and tired face reflected on the glass.  Tears started streaking down his face, blurring his eyes.  At that moment, like the voice in his head told him to, he made a wish upon a star.  The sky seemed to glow an unnatural blue before he suddenly felt the ground fall out from under him and his vision fade away.
