Just like time flew by and it was already time for the tournament to begin, in the meantime, Wang Wei studied and thoroughly memorized all of the opponents he will have to face off against and he compiled a list of all of them that may pose a threat.
He even found out that in this tournament a real Golden-Core stage cultivator would be competing, when he heard that Wang Wei wasn't scared or disappointed instead he was excited at finally being able to face a human cultivator at the Golden-Core stage, even though Wang Wei wasn't able to defeat a sea beast at the Golden-Core realm, beasts were known to be stronger than human cultivators at the same stage.
Wang Wei left his room in the Inn and departed for the arena, but before he could even step one foot outside the arena he immediately noticed a giant crowd all heading towards the colosseum.
But all Wang Wei did in response to that sight was lightly tap his foot which propelled him tens of meters in the air completely leaping over the entire crowd and landing on a merchant building. After that, it didn't take him a long time to reach the arena by running over buildings.
When he reached the colosseum he immediately took a seat in the competitor's section and waited for the beginning of the matches.
The first few matches weren't anything impressive it was mostly Qi-Gathering cultivators that came to try their luck and Wang Wei beat all of them quite easily. Then came the Qi-Condensation cultivators that were also quite easily dispatched.
And finally, after all of those matches, Wang Wei finally reached the final few deciding matches against the true geniuses and the reason that this tournament was famous in the first place.
Wang Wei was put up against Han Shengong who was the crown prince of the biggest kingdom of the Zhong continent who has reached the peak Qi-Condensation realm by the time he was 18 years old which was considered, even by the Wang family, to be above average.
They both entered the arena and they wasted no time in starting the match, Han Shengong immediately entered a horse stance and a convergence of Qi could immediately be felt gathering above the arena.
Wang Wei recalled the information he had read about Han Shengong. He was a lightning attribute cultivator and his favorite mode of attack was sudden surprise moves from afar.

So before the move could be executed Wang Wei immediately exerted his strength and lept away from the attack while leaving an afterimage behind in his wake and it was a good thing he did because as soon as he was out of harms way lightning struck his previous location from the sky.
After that, it was Wang Wei's turn to attack, immediately the area around him started heating up and his blood boiled, and before Han Shengong could even react Wang Wei's fist was in front of his stomach but before he the fist could even reach him the searing hit already started to burn his body.
But Han Shengong wasn't only good at surprise attacks he was also very proficient in escape techniques so as soon as he felt the searing heat, his entire body was covered in lightning, and in a bright flash of light, his body was dissolved into lightning that quickly avoided Wang Wei's fist and then reassembled into his body a dozen feet away from Wang Wei with shock apparent on his face.
But this time Wang Wei didn't even bother to run towards him he just stood where he was and once again he punched out except this time his body was set aflame and his eyes glowed with fire and once the fist started hurdling towards Han Shengong the surrounding started burning and even the floor of the colosseum started melting.
And that heatwave that was produced by the fist started racing toward Han Shengong faster than even his own lightning and he had absolutely no way to dodge it because of the exhaustion that his escape skill inflicts on him.
So he did the only reasonable thing and took out the surrender talisman that is provided to every contestant, that talisman would teleport him back to the contestant stands, and as soon as the talisman made contact with his Qi he disappeared on the spot, and the heatwave passed by his previous position and crashed into the colosseum wall completely melting it.
As soon as the announcement of his surrender went out, shocked exclamations rang out among the crowd, people were shocked that the famous crown prince could possibly lose, let alone to an unknown physical cultivator with no future.
And the reason nobody in the crowd recognized the famous Wang family name was of course because Wang Wei is using an alias while he is participating in the tournament.
After that Wang Wei calmly returned to the stands and started reflecting on the battle and he realized that he needed a movement technique in order to be able to deal with the people that were too fast, because even though Wang Wei has a ranged technique the advantage of physical cultivators was always their strength and if someone was faster than him that advantage completely disappeared.
Wang Wei continued looking at matches but still, the only interesting ones were between the true disciple of the Nine Peaks Sect Bai Beifong and the sister of Han Shengong Han Lafei and even that was over way too quickly with the Han Lafei destroying Bai Beifong with her swordsmanship technique "Dance of a Thousand Roses".
When she returned back to the stands she looked at Wang Wei with a smirk that promised to inflict him pain in the next match. Of course, that didn't bother him at all and he flashed her back a challenging smile that looked as if he was smiling at a toddler that didn't know what was going on around them.
