COMPLETED! End Notes + New Fate of the Series

---

You’ve finished “Jon Fuze”! Now let’s talk about the future of this series…

As you can tell by the title, no, it’s not "ending"—but the new direction may disappoint you.

To cut to the chase, I will shift to Amani’s POV in a way that creates an entirely new experience, very unlike Jon Fuze. There are pretty compelling reasons for this.

Firstly, I have royally screwed up Jon Fuze's character, and I know that if I continue working with him as he is, he’ll turn bland very soon. I’m simply not good at writing characters like Jon Fuze, who is supposed to be fueled by various stoic action character juices.

Secondly, this series had always been intended as my personal live-fire training exercise in writing action, characterization, planning, and self-discipline: all my weaknesses. It was never meant to play to my strengths, naturally making it difficult for me to write.

In summary, I'm just way too weak at writing these sorts of stories.

From this point onwards, I've decided that I will now play to my strengths.

The next story to this series will be Priestess of the Aranai (tentative title), taking place in an alternate timeline. With more emphasis on interpersonal relationships, curiosity, and intrigue, it will certainly be a very different story to Jon Fuze.

Here’s the (tentative) blurb to see what it’s about:

Priestess of the Aranai: An Incidental Revolutionary Slice-of-life Adventure Fantasy

----------------------------------------

After Amani befriends the Kingdom’s princess and becomes a death priestess, her tribe is almost totally wiped out in a surprise attack—but in losing everything, she also gains freedom, freedom which she wants nothing more than to grasp.

Pushing away all thoughts of vengeance, she desires nothing more than to live the best life she could—as a priestess who respects life and death, and as someone who just wants to be with a friend.

There are monsters under the sand and monsters who sit on thrones, however, and turning the sands of the Aranai into a soup of opposing rebel factions is just a side effect as she discovers strange new powers with which to protect her new life.

No matter what it takes, she'll cling onto the freedom she had never had before…and maybe befriend some shady people along the way.

• Weak (harmless) to weak (very dangerous)

• 100% exploration completion meta

Progression elements are present, but do not inform the pace of the story.

Other keywords: magic, gunpowder, slowburn, spirits, artifacts, skills, system

I’m certain that this change in direction will disappoint some, but what will be more disappointing is if I totally butcher Jon Fuze, waste your time, and limit my own potential in a triple-whammy tragedy. The best we can do from now on is watch him from far away, maybe from behind a thin sign post like one of those strange tsundere stalkers.

If you're interested in this story, Priestess of the Aranai will launch later this year. I have since learned the virtue of properly cooking a story, so I won't finalize a schedule until I actually have a solid story to serve. Instead, I'll post a follow-up update here when the time comes, so please consider enabling email notifications for Jon Fuze to make sure you don't miss it. Alternatively, considering following my profile so you directly catch the new story's launch.

I think we can all agree: Jon Fuze is certainly a story that exists.

Thank you for reading until the end!

Until next time,

KA
