Chapter 6 Ripperdoc Confidential

Ripperdoc Confidential

After a long talk and a quiet night of watching Vid’s with Haru. J decided with what she had discovered that it was time to finally pull the trigger on getting some of the cyberware she had been eying installed.

Misty has always been friendly to her in a chill way to J.

“Hey, J your Aura seems to be a lot clearer than usual, something good happen?”

“Not really. Just had a moment of revelation recently though.”

“Well it’s doing wonderful things to your Aura, although you seem to have a very strange fracture, it’s weird. Like one side is the normal you, but much less muddied. While the other side is strangely desaturated but made of incredibly complex paterns. Honestly it’s fascinating to look at.”

Points for the actual psychic powers

“Thanks Mist, you look like you're doing better too. Did you clear everything up with David”

“Not really, that guy was like a fortune spunge. I had to break it off with him after the third time I almost got run over.”

“Well we should catch up soon, but I got an appointment with Vik. I'll shoot you a text later. Anything I should watch out for today?”

“Finally gettin’ chipped?”

“Nothin’ major but yeah, I just felt it was time and I’m finally old enough that it won’t affect me when I get older.”

Misty reached out and gave her a hug, before releasing her and lightly tousling her hair, which J pouted slightly at before straightening it back the way she wanted it. “Well, I’m glad to see you, it's been a while, I missed you Munchkin. As for what to watch out for… I’d be careful of acid green. It's dangerous but only if you aren’t paying attention to it, and blue is definitely to your benefit.”

This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.

J made a mental note, waving to Misty as she went down into Vik’s clinic. Where Vik sat, relaxing reading an honest to god magazine. J was confused where he even got the fucking thing.

“Hey, Vik. Where’d you find the relic?”

“How you doing, little Ocelot?” Viks responded ignoring her question by answering with his own as he put the magazine in a draw in his desk.

“Common Vik, I’m 15, not 8 anymore. I’m too old for that now.”

“You're never too old to be that little viscous Ocelot, Jackie and Haru brought in, to me J. I still remember you scolding me when you saw the sensors on my resonance scanners were off by half a percent when I went to do calibration tests on your brother’s optics, and what did I say about callin’ me Vik?” Vik questioned with reproachful but also warmth.

“Calibration is important!”J’s response was ignored as Vik gave her a dead panned response.

“Uncle Vik” J replied with mild exasperation.

“That's better. So what brings my favorite small predator in today? You want to be my little assistant again? You know you were only a couple hundred hours away from completing your apprenticeship and we both know you could pass the practicum and certification tests.”

“I do plan to get back into that soon Vik, but today I’m here to finally get CHIPPED!” She enthused, using her phone to send him an outline of her cyberware plans.

“It’s rare to see someone opt for an optical tap nowadays. Usually people just get get new optics and sync them with their deck.”

“I just don’t really ready for that level of change yet Vik, I like my eyes, I have great vision they can’t be hacked or disrupted with a lens disruptor and while optics might be better overall I like my eyes, you could say I’ve grown attached.”

Despite himself he chuckled “Hey careful with that joke, it's an antique. You gotta start hanging out with people your own age J, you sound older than I do, and I was old before your father was born.” Vik prodded good naturedly

“Yeah, that one was bad. It just came out, I used to pun around with Doc Frank before… well before. Being at a ripperdoc just kinda brings it back you know.” They lapsed into a somber silence.

“Damn shame what happened.”

“Yeah, yeah it was…”

Vik, silently prepped his equipment. “OK, J up on the table. I need you to lie on your back for this first part and take a couple hits of this.” Vik hands her a gas mask inhaler to hit.

“We’ll talk when you wake up, Ocelot.”
