Epilogue
I walked out of the barber shop and saw Roku waiting on the bench outside looking at a map.
“What were you doing anyways? Why’d we need to stop here?” He asked me.
“Oh Roku, you may know your way around, but you still don’t know about things like these.” I said with a chuckle.
“Huh?” He replied, not understanding what I was getting at.
“If we are going to be protagonists, we need to look the part, I can’t be known as the party member with the dingy haircut who dresses like a soccer mom.” I explained.
“So, you cut that shaggy mop of a hairstyle?” He asked, not looking up from the map.
“As a matter of fact, I did.” I now had the generic short spiky hair like every good protagonist.
“Does that mean you’ll finally lose the sandals too?” He sarcastically asked, already knowing the answer.
If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
“.... Yes, I guess function can go over comfort.” I sorrowfully said.
“I even changed my style.” I had switched out my loose black sweatpants for a tracksuit. I kept my white hoodie on, but threw the electric blue track jacket over it. Now I really looked the part.
My character had changed, and so my character design should reflect that.
“Now, where to?” I asked.
“We are going to the underbelly.” He said with a smirk.
“We are leaving the plateau?” I curiously asked.
“Yes, while the plateau is safer, there is no better place to find a party and get our journey started.”
“The plateaus were built to protect humanity from the monsters below. But towns still remained, towns of warriors who hunt the monsters for profit, towns full of adventurers with unique powers who’ll take on any quest to get ahead, towns where technology has stagnated since the plateaus where built, to the point where one might mistake it for medieval. That......is where we are going.” He said with that power hungry grin. I thought the exposition was my job.
“Even the way they use their powers and the knowledge behind it are different!” He excitedly said.
“So, we are going to an unfamiliar place, with unfamiliar powers, seemingly in an unfamiliar time period, to fight monsters and go on quests in a party of new found friends?” I asked.
Why does that sound so familiar?
