After defeating the ogre the three adventurers which is what they called themselves offered to show Kyr the valuable parts needed to collect from the ogre after they found out that Kyr knowledge concerning this things lack lustre.
Kyr explained to them that the equipment he's using or the expandable artefact and the dungeon armament was handed down by his father who passed away recently and that he lived in a very isolated area and did not know much of the world apart from the tidbits his dad has told him so he was quite ignorant.
The three adventurers were happy to share their information and to show Kyr what parts of the tier 3 monster were valuable and will earn him quite a nice sum of money.
They explained that the horn of the ogre was highly sought after by alchemist and the magic core is important and its price will vary depending on what kind of attribute it contained.
Kyr asked them what a monster core can be used for and they kindly explained that it could be used to give certain skills to items and equipments.
For example if the core was imbued to an armour and the attribute of the core was regeneration it will give the armour the ability to self repair itself by drawing mana from the surroundings.
Kyr asked if he could take a look at the core for a moment and secretly duplicated it with his ability.
"You can have this while I'll take the horn." Offered Kyr.
"No how can we take that from you since you save our lives we can sell it and we can split the profit fifty fifty. You'll have half of what we can sell it for and we can split the other half among ourselves."
The woman who introduced herself as Sarah said to me seriously.
'She seems to be the leader of this group since she normally was the one who spoke to me and while making this decision none of the other two voiced out their opinion. I get the feeling that they trust her a lot.'
Kyr shook his head and smiled.
"No you can keep it. Seeing as how I wouldn't have been able to defeat it without you also your friend Olaf seems to be hurt so you probably need to spend money on medicine"
"And besides I'm grateful for what you have taught me. I don't know much about the world and you did not take advantage of me or harbour any ill intentions to rob me of my belongings."
Kyr looked at Sarah in the eyes to let her know of his sincerity. She did not speak straight away and she just looked at Kyr observing his face.
After a second she just smiled and nodded.
"Thank you. We will never forget your help and this favour. If you ever need help come to the adventurers guild and tell the receptionist that you are looking for the 'Gold Chasers' that is what we call ourselves."
Kyr smiled at their team name finding it amusing.
"Well, I do have a favour right now. If it's okay could I tag along with you guys to the city or town?"
"That's no problem. It's not much of a favour to you so you still have that."
Sarah laughed at Kyr. Finding his request a bit too ridiculous.
Sarah and the rest of the 'gold chasers' led Kyr to the closest town called Boulder Town. They told Kyr an interesting tidbit that it was called Boulder Town because at its centre was a Boulder formation made up of six boulders.
Apparently no one knew why it was there or who put it there. The people who first lived here tried removing and destroying the boulders but it couldn't be destroyed.
Kyr enjoyed listening to their various tales as they walked. Olaf was initially limping at the start of their journey but slowly his body recovered. Kyr was curious about his miraculous recovery.
"It's because I'm half-troll." Olaf said seriously.
This tale has been unlawfully obtained from Royal Road. If you discover it on Amazon, kindly report it.
Kyr raised his eyebrows in disbelief. His mouth wide open and he stops to examine Olaf mostly his face to see if there was any resemblance of a troll.
"That's amazing. Yeah, now that I look at you I can definitely see some resemblance." Said Kyr seriously.
Olaf frowned at Kyr's serious response while Sarah and Dexter the bow user started snickering in laughter. First, it was quiet then they were suddenly holding their stomach as they burst out laughing.
Kyr was confused at first then he looked back and forth between the now red-faced Olaf who seemed to be seething in anger and annoyance not at Kyr but at his two companions.
It did not help that Dexter suddenly said in between laughter that Olaf got most of his looks from his troll mother.
Kyr finally understood that Olaf was pulling his leg and lied about himself being a half-troll and he too burst out in laughter.
"You guys! Wait till you get beaten up by a troll then you won't be laughing then!" Olaf shouted.
"Can't you ask your family to stop hitting me since I'm your good dear brother." Retorted Dexter who was trying hard to catch his breath from laughing too much.
"Your dead to me." Said Olaf sulkily.
"To answer your question Kyr. Olaf pursues the path of a berserker so he trains his body and fighting spirit. Berserkers normally fight with just a weapon in hand and the might of their body."
"Olaf gained a skill that helps his body recover a lot faster. I think his regeneration skill is at level two."
Sarah explained to me kindly.
Her answer made Kyr ponder a lot of things. There's still a lot of things Kyr don't know about this world but he was excited and very interested in the skills and abilities she was talking about.
Sarah expanded further when practising a skill after trying for a long time the will of the world will notify you that you have learned it and then imprints that skill in your mind and as you continue to use it the proficiency and the level of the skill will grow accordingly.
Kyr smiled and muttered a word of thanks. His mind was occupied and was pondering a lot of things. He wanted to know more about this worlds power system since it was quite different from where he came from.
The power he has now was something he was born with although it wasn't an offensive ability he was very satisfied with it since in a sense depending on how he use it's had the potential to be quite powerful.
Kyr and the gold chasers arrived at Boulder Town. The town is protected by a large wall. The walls wasn't exactly towering but it was more than double the height of the ogre they were facing earlier.
Kyr could see the guards patrolling on top of the castle and he could see a few guards inside the lookout towers on top of the walls.
"Welcome back!" One of the guards standing at the gate greeted Sarah and the rest of her team.
"What's this. Finally managed to recruit a new member Sarah." The middle-aged guard with a beard laughed heartily feigning an emotion of shock and awe.
"Oh shut up will you Gilbert, you meddling old man, its no wonder you're single." returned Dexter without missing a beat.
Kyr observed the whole situation without speaking. This guard seems to know the members of the Gold chases very well.
The guard called Gilbert paid Dexter no mind and just laughed heartily. It made Kyr smile and it also made him miss something that he has been trying to bury in his heart. He did not want to remember because it was just too painful.
"No but he saved us and he was lost so we offered to lead him here since he did not know where the closest town was." said Sarah.
The old man nodded.
"What was it ? It's hard to believe that a silver adventurer team was in danger so the monster must have been strong."
"Yeah, it was a tier-three monster. An ogre. That bastard was scary. Nothing we do injured it permanently. Its skin was tough as a mountain and I could barely cut through the damn thing."
Said Olaf excitedly recalling the adventure with great enthusiasm.
"Not as scary as your face you half-troll looking bastard." quipped Dexter.
Olaf immediately grab his axe and pointed it at Dexter.
"You wanna go you monkey bastard. The only thing you know how to do is hide behind that bow and arrow of yours."
"You really wanna look like a human porcupine. I will grant your wish right now."
Shouted Dexter as he equips his bow and knocked an arrow pointing it at Olaf.
Kyr sighed and shared a look with Sarah. Over the course of the journey, this has happened on more than one occasion.
Most of the time Dexter and Olaf don't really get along with each other and always fight about the smallest thing and they love insulting each other.
Kyr smiled at their banter. He knows that they would never come to blows. Although it might look like they dislike each other, it's only at the level of two siblings quarrelling about petty things.
As if the guard was used to this he just ignored the two quarrelling children.
"That's odd, they normally don't come to the forest of Nebula. It's a little bit worrying that a monster is wandering around that area. I should report this to the captain and we can contact a team of gold rank adventurers to take it down."
"No need to worry about that. We have taken care of it." Said Sarah.
"Wha-.." the soldier was in shock for a while.
"That's a tier 3 monster you know!" He shouted.
Sarah pointed at me. "It was only possible because of his help."
"That strong!"
"Hahaha, I'm glad we have someone strong coming to our town." Gilbert laughed and patted Kyr's back.
"And thanks for saving them, especially Sarah since I treat her like a daughter." Gilbert sighed and looked at Sarah critically and shook his head.
"She's already 26 and has still not settled down yet. How about it wann-." before he could utter a word Sarah has hit Gilbert square in the face with her staff. Gilbert lay flat on the floor unconscious from the blow.
She looked at Kyr and gave him the sweetest smile but Kyr just shivered and look away immediately.
