Chapter 5

Zikil sat in his favorite white chair, observing the family while sipping his coffee. "Ah, nothing can beat a good old coffee morning," he said, satisfied.

"I prefer tea in the morning," Ghalia stated as she sat beside Zikil, also observing the family to see what happens next. Zikil scoffed at her comment, shaking his head in disapproval because, for her, tea was better than coffee which is why he doesn't wanted to hear it. He continued to drink his coffee without replying to her.

Then, Zikil whistled as he pointed at the family, saying, "Ah, here it comes, here it comes..." Zikil and Ghalia leaned forward to watch more closely as they sipped their drinks.

Meanwhile at family home...

Maya and Joseph looked confused at their kids. "You want to go to the so-called magic school or knight school, even though you guys already graduated back then. Except for Harold, you're still 16 years old. But why, though?" Joseph questioned, as it seemed Mitch and Jessica had their answers.

"Dad, come on! This is a fantasy world! Of course, I want to go to school and learn everything about this world!" Mitch said excitedly.

"Well, yeah, I can't deny that. I really want to learn more about magic," Jessica agreed with her brother.

Joseph sighed, realizing there was no stopping them. He smiled, "Well, I can't stop both of you, but make sure you three need to be careful and pay attention to your surroundings at school," he advised his kids, to which they nodded in understanding.

Back to Zikil and Ghalia

"Do you think these kids are okay to go to school?" Ghalia expressed her concern as she sipped her tea.

Zikil took a sip of his coffee and nodded, "Yes, they can handle themselves." Ghalia looked at him skeptically, as if asking, "Really?" He rolled his eyes and explained, "Look, I know they're still at the beginning, but these kids know what they're doing. Now, if you'll excuse me, I want to focus."

Ghalia sighed in defeat, rubbing her temples and sipping her tea to calm herself down.

Early morning

Mitch, Jessica, and Harold enjoyed breakfast prepared by their mother, while Joseph read a book and sipped his coffee. After finishing their meal, the three of them packed their bags, preparing to go to their first school in this new world.

As they walked through the city, various races bustled about, either shopping for goods or heading to their jobs. The school was not far from their home, just one block away.

They arrived at their school within minutes without any problems. The school was impressively large and expansive, surpassing the size of a university building. Mitch, Jessica, and Harold were in awe, never having expected the school to be so beautiful in terms of its architecture and towering structure.

"Well, that's one of the biggest schools I've ever seen..." Harold remarked in surprise as they continued walking toward the gate, where students were entering.

However, there was a student standing in front of the gate, a young woman wearing a black shirt with long sleeves adorned with yellow lines, a black knee-length skirt, white socks, and black leather shoes. Her face was slim and beautiful, with green eyes and a dark green ponytail. Upon noticing two adults and a teenager attempting to enter the school, she promptly moved to block their way and raised her hand to signal them to stop.

"You three, where do you think you're going? This is Cathric Elite School, a renowned institution known worldwide, and you can't just casually walk through this gate without permission," she said in a serious tone, her face stoic as she looked at them. Unfortunately, all the passing students seemed to take notice, their expressions shifting to confusion as they watched the unfolding scene.

Jessica scoffed and expressed annoyance at the young woman in front of them. "Well, actually, it's our first time going to school, so we don't know how your system works," she declared, glaring at the stoic woman who met her gaze with equal intensity. Both adult women increased their mana, displaying their power in an intimidating manner. The ground shook, and the wind strengthened, causing students to scatter away from the ladies to avoid any potential trouble. Meanwhile, Mitch and Harold calmly held their sister's shoulders, aiming to diffuse the tension and avoid escalating the situation.

"Jess, calm down; you're making more trouble," Harold whispered. Jessica sighed and relaxed a bit, lowering her mana. As she looked around, she noticed the fearful gazes of some students, while others regarded them with curiosity.

The standoff between Jessica and the stoic female student continued until an intervening figure stepped forward. A man, dressed in a brown coat over a white casual shirt, black pants, and black leather shoes, caught their attention. His bright blue eyes and brown hair framed a face marked by a scar at the edge of his left eye.

"I sense there's a massive mana disturbance at the gate. What happened? Was that you?" he asked, looking at Jessica, who sighed and nodded. "Well, you can't just release your mana at the gate, including you, Miss Mirvana. You two are making students uncomfortable."

The stoic female student, named Mirvana, sighed in frustration and glared at Jessica, who glared back at her. The adult man pinched his nose bridge. He looked at the unfamiliar two boys and a girl, realizing that this is their first time came this school.

"You three, what are your names?" he asked, folding his arms and waiting for their introduction. The three kids nodded at him.

"My name is Jessica Ken, and these two are my brothers, Mitch Ken and Harold Ken. I'm 28 years old, Mitch is 22, and Harold is 16. Sorry for causing trouble," Jessica introduced.

The man nodded and smiled, "No worries. Besides, you three aren't really familiar with this school, even though it's pretty famous in the country, if not worldwide," he explained, glancing at Mirvana, who blushed embarrassed and looked away. He then turned back to the three kids. "And I'm a teacher in this school. My name is Boful. Sorry for the late introduction."

"Don't be. You already look awesome!" Mitch complimented, giving a thumbs up to Boful, who chuckled.

Boful escorted them into the school. As they walked past the classrooms, Jessica briefly explained everything to the teacher. He was surprised to learn that the whole family was from Outworld, explaining the powerful mana he sensed. This raised concerns about the possibility of nobles kidnapping them. Boful didn't want to let the nobles take advantage, so he decided to keep an eye on them and possibly seek help from other teachers and students.

Soon, they reached the office where teachers were working on their documents. Inside the office was chaotic, with papers scattered around, stacks of books on the table, and various animals running about. Mitch glanced at Boful, who chuckled nervously, "Sorry for the mess in our office. As you can see, we've been very busy throughout the years, we don't have much time to clean our office."

Boful gestured for them to sit as he took his usual chair. He opened the drawer and pulled out three papers, handing them over, "Just sign here, here, here, and here," he pointed to the designated spots for them to sign.

After signing the papers and returning them to the teacher, he opened a drawer behind him and took out the school uniforms, handing them over. "Welcome to our school. You're officially students of Cathric Elite School," Boful smiled at them. They returned the smiles and examined their new school uniforms to assess the quality of the clothes.

Exiting the office, they headed to different rooms. The Ken children looked confused, but the teacher explained, "Before you three enter the classroom, we must check your current status and rankings based on your mana."

They entered the room where one person stood behind a pedestal, and on top of it was a blue-gray marble orb. The person was a female wearing a dark blue cloak, her face covered by the hood, making it hard to see.

"Meet Madam Janet. Janet, meet the new students from Outworld: Jessica, Mitch, and Harold," Boful introduced them side by side.

Janet nodded and gestured with her hand for them to come closer. Jessica stepped forward first. "Put your hand on top of the orb, and I will see the result," Janet instructed. Jessica nodded and placed her hand on it.

The blue-grey marble orb changed color; it turned bright white, leaving Janet and Boful shocked and surprised. "Incredible, your mana is extraordinary, and the results are very clear. Jessica, you will enter the S class at the fifth section building..." Jessica was surprised; she wasn't prepared to join an advanced class.

Later, Mitch and Harold received similar results but were assigned to different sections of the building: Mitch to the fourth section building and Harold to the second section building. When they asked why they were in different buildings, Janet explained that it depended on their ages.

As they exited the room and bid farewell to Janet, Boful guided them to their respective buildings. Harold entered the second section building first, bidding them farewell and instructing, "After you guys are done, meet me at the gate, or if I'm late, just wait for me." Jessica and Mitch nodded, waving at Harold as he entered the building.

Not long after, when Mitch reached his building, he waved at his sister before going inside. Now, only Jessica remained. Her building was just a few blocks away when she saw someone she never wanted to meet.

Mirvana was talking with her friends when she noticed and recognized Jessica. Mirvana glared, folding her arms. Her friends noticed her expression but were confused about why she looked angry. Jessica simply glared back before entering the building.

"Well, this is as far as I can go. I have work stuff to do. Have a great day, Miss Jessica," Boful smiled and bid farewell to her, to which Jessica returned the farewell. Now on her own, she hoped not to get lost inside the building.

Meanwhile...

Max yawned and felt bored as he lay down. He was hoping for Mitch to come back, but overheard Maya and Joseph's conversation that Mitch went to school. Max wondered why he was going to school again when he had done that before. Frustrated with boredom, he thought waiting for Mitch to come back home was the best option.

Then, Max remembered something he could do—his magic! Excitedly, he stood up and looked around, making sure Maya or Joseph wouldn't catch him using magic. With the coast clear, Max jumped up, using his paw to make a vertical slice and open a green void portal. Not wasting any time, he jumped in, and the portal closed automatically.

The only problem was, where did he go to!?

Meanwhile...

Zikil and Ghalia were eating popcorn, excited about Max. "I really hope this wolf knows what he's doing because of his dog behavior," Ghalia said as she enjoyed her popcorn.

"Nah, he'll be fine," Zikil replied, continuing to eat his popcorn. Ghalia just deadpanned at his answer. Nonetheless, she didn't argue back and continued watching their show, akin to watching TV.
