Chapter 3

Early in the morning, the family headed their way to Cathric Kingdom by riding on top of Max. Along the way, Maya taught their kids, except Jessica, self-defense and combat techniques from her MMA champion experience. However, Harold gave up after just 5 push-ups, and Mitch received scolding from his mother several times. Joseph and his daughter, Jessica, couldn't help but laugh at the two boys' misery.

"You two are really weak, and I'm disappointed," Maya said harshly, causing the boys to flinch at their mother's words. Harold and Mitch paused their workout, taking a moment to rest before continuing on their way to the kingdom. They occasionally stopped to rest before continuing their journey. Maya, on the other hand, wasted no time; as soon as they halted for a break, she resumed training both her sons to improve, making their experience more challenging.

As they continued to travel, the family caught sight of a view in the distance that resembled a kingdom. They were surprised by the beauty of the kingdom, and Max led them slowly towards their destination.

Upon reaching the front of the wall gate, they observed a line of carriages with individuals of different races waiting to enter the city.

At the back of the line, a coachman focused on his own affairs while waiting. Suddenly, he heard thumping at the back of his carriage. He looked back, only to be shocked and afraid at what he saw.

A giant wolf stood there, staring at him with a menacing gaze that seemed to pierce his soul. The coachman quickly turned his head forward, avoiding eye contact with the massive beast. His heart pounded rapidly, and anxiety overwhelmed him, fearing that the wolf might devour him. "I'm gonna die, I'm gonna die!" he repeated the words in his thoughts, sweating profusely.

The family sat atop Max, waiting their turn, except for Joseph, who was already on the ground and waiting. After several hours, Mitch grew tired of sitting and got down from Max. Their dog, however, seemed bored, and his hunch was hurting because they were sitting on top of him. Max made a whimpering noise. Joseph noticed Max's behavior and called his family, "You guys should get down; Max is experiencing back pain right now, haha." All the family, except Joseph and Mitch, nodded as they got down.

The coachman remained sunk in his seat, as if trying to avoid the people and the giant wolf. He heard footsteps approaching him, causing him to sweat profusely, his heart beating even faster. He prayed to a god that he wouldn't die until, "Oh man, are you okay there, old man?" Joseph asked, expressing concern as he stood next to the coachman, who was surprised and nearly had a heart attack.

The coachman eventually calmed himself but remained cautious of Joseph. "You almost gave me a heart attack," he said, taking a deep breath.

Joseph chuckled and rubbed the back of his head, "Oh, sorry about that. I didn't mean to do that, haha," Joseph apologized as he lifted his hand for a shake. "My name is Joseph Ken. Nice to meet you," he said with a smile. Galir hesitated but eventually accepted the handshake, returning the smile.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Joseph. My name is Galir Orvis, a weaponsmith," Galir introduced himself. He then looked at Joseph's family and remarked, "Ah, you have a lovely family back there, haha."

"Yup, just arrived here, and we're kinda new. We don't know where to start," Joseph said, surveying the surroundings. Galir was surprised by this.

"Oh, you're from Outworld? A rare encounter. I'm really glad I met people from Outworld, let alone such powerful beings, haha," Galir exclaimed in excitement. In his thoughts, he added, "I might help these folks before the nobles get their hands on them." He looked at the family, especially their giant wolf, and then back at Joseph. "So, if you and your family are really here for the first time, entering the city can be a challenge because you all don't have the required pass," he explained.

At the back, Mitch was cheering and struck a winning pose, having bet correctly that they needed a license pass to enter the city. Jessica and Harold were already aware of this, and their parents, not paying attention to their kids, were engaged in their own conversation. Maya sighed in defeat, and Joseph chuckled, turning back to Galir.

"Yeah... We might have a little trouble," he nervously said. Certainly, he and his wife didn't know how this world worked, especially considering their kids knew more than they did.

Galir just smiled and chuckled, "Well, I can help you with that. I have a license pass, so why don't we go together?" he said, showing his golden card.

Joseph hesitated, "Oh, I really appreciate that, but we don't want you to be burdened by us. We can figure it out ourselves."

But Galir insisted, "No, no, let me help you. Besides, the guards will scam you if you have lots of gold," he said seriously. Joseph thought about it and then agreed.

"Well, you're right about that," Joseph chuckled as he gestured for his family to hop into the cart while Max followed behind them.

After waiting for several moments, Galir and Joseph had talked so much throughout the time that they seemed to have become best friends. Galir shared stories about his life as a young weaponsmith, and Joseph asked numerous questions about this world. Galir was particularly interested in their giant wolf, asking how they tamed it. Joseph explained that Max was also from Outworld, to which Galir just responded with an "oh." Finally, the guards gestured for them to halt. Several guards' eyes widened as they saw the giant wolf in front of their gates, and they began to take out their spears and swords, ready to attack. However, Galir intervened, shouting, "THE WOLF IS WITH ME!" All the guards lowered their weapons but remained cautious about the giant wolf.

The leader of the guards approached Galir in anger, "Why is this giant beast here at my gate? Do you have any idea if that beast might cause a ruckus!?"

Galir sighed and nodded in understanding, but he insisted, "Yes, I know, but this giant wolf is tamed by this family!" He gestured with both hands towards the family. "This dog has good behavior, trained and disciplined by this family," he said. The leader of the guards was about to argue back at Galir, but the words never came out of his mouth. Instead, he nodded and gestured for his men to move away, allowing them to pass through.

"Alright, but if this beast gets out of control, we don't have a choice but to kill it. Now, give me your pass so that you and this family can enter," the leader guard warned them. Galir handed over the license pass, and the leader checked it. After the leader finished checking the license, Galir and the family were free to enter along with Max. However, Max sensed that all the guards, including the leader, were not good people. So, Max remained cautious around them, remembering their smells.

Once they entered, the family was astonished by the beautiful city. Different races were walking around to buying various items, and the aroma of food made Mitch and Joseph hungry. Jessica was excited to see different flowers being sold in various shops. The citizens, however, were surprised and a bit afraid of Max. Thankfully, Max kept his head down, avoiding eye contact with other people.

They reached and stopped at Galir's shop. Joseph assisted Galir by carrying all the materials and weapons inside the shop, while the rest of the family packed their belongings. Joseph placed everything in the shop, and Galir expressed his gratitude, "Thank you for helping to carry this. Although I have workers, they are not available today. You and your family can come here anytime you want; I'll give you a discount on all the prices. Anyway, thanks." Galir and Joseph shook hands before Joseph left the shop.

"Man I'm tired... Should we go to the inn because I want to sleep..." Mitch said in very tired voice, Jessica yawn nod agree and Harold trying to resist his eyes closed. Maya and Joseph chuckle at them and they agree to them, so they head towards inn for one night sleep.

Meanwhile, at Galir's shop...

Galir was busy rearranging his weapons and checking for any dents that needed fixing when the shop door opened. A smile appeared on Galir's face upon hearing a familiar voice, "Gahahaha, never thought I'd see you again, half-breed!" His friend teased him, and Galir joined in the laughter.

"Darvin, it's nice to see you again, haha," Galir chuckled as he continued his work. Darvin, his friend, had started wearing work clothes, and it was revealed that Darvin is a dwarf.

Darvin took all the materials and headed to the smithing room, "How's your job doing outside?" he asked as he started heating up the fire.

Galir finished his task and joined Darvin in the work, "Nothing much, just the same as the old days. But surprisingly, I met Outworlders just after I arrived here," Galir shared. Darvin was taken aback; he never expected his friend to encounter them so suddenly. Outworlders were quite rare these days, often hiding somewhere safe and far away from any kingdom. "Oh, and they're here too," Galir continued, surprising Darvin once again.

Darvin, however, was worried, "But what about the nobles? They might capture these Outworlders."

"The Outworlders will be fine. It's a whole family of Outworlders," Galir said as he began working, putting ore inside the furnace. Darvin was once again surprised to learn that an entire family was from the Outworld. Galir continued, "They know what they're doing, so I wouldn't worry about it. Besides, they have a tame beast on their side."

Darvin sighed in relief but remained concerned, "Still, dealing with nobles isn't easy, and the queen is their backup."

"Nah, they'll be fine. I know it because..."

Back with the family...

Mitch, Jessica, and Harold slept in one room, while Joseph and Maya were in another. They hadn't gone to sleep yet and were discussing something important. "Do you think what the merchant said is true?" Maya asked, expressing her concern. Joseph reassured her, wrapping his arms around her waist and kissing her forehead.

"We'll figure it out. If something goes wrong... I don't know, but let's pray that we survive this day," Joseph said, hoping that his family would remain safe from the nobles. Maya was the first to go to sleep, but Joseph stayed awake to stand guard. During this time, he took a moment to read the magic books they had bought from the merchant.

He search a magic suitable for him until he came across gravity magic. "Hmm, if I use this magic, maybe I can make enemies lower their movements... Gah, I don't know, let's just read it," he thought as he read the book. Although all the descriptions were in the same English language, thanks to blessings, it was still challenging to understand.

He tried to wrap his head around how to use it because this magic was very confusing for him. He groaned, rubbed his eyes, and tried again. Eventually, he managed to understand... a little bit. He read a lot, almost finishing the whole book in one night without sleep. Then, just one magic trick left to try. "Alright, let's try this..." he thought tiredly. He lifted his hand directly at the cup and concentrated on it. Suddenly, the cup lifted in the air, and Joseph was surprised that he managed to do it. The cup floated in the air, resembling zero gravity in space. As he got tired, the cup fell down. "Man, this magic is awesome. No wonder kids like this... I'd better go to sleep before they wake up," he thought as he went to bed and immediately fell asleep.

The next morning...

The family was searching for a place to live. They asked people if any buildings were available to buy. Some said it was hard to find, and others claimed not to know, which was frustrating. As they delved deeper into the city, they still couldn't find any available buildings, and the family was on the verge of giving up. That's when Galir appeared, waving his hand.

"You folks have been busy. What are you all looking for?" Galir said while holding a full basket of ores.

"We just need to find a better place to live. Any recommendations, my friend?" Joseph said. Galir just chuckled.

"I know a place. Come, follow me." Galir walked ahead, and the family followed him.

Soon, they arrived at the abandoned building, though it's still intact, the walls are badly damaged, as well as the windows and doors. They even knew that the inside of the building is damaged. However, the family sighed in relief that they finally found the place they can live.

"This is the only building available. No one wants to buy it because... well, they don't like it," Galir rubbed his neck and sighed.

"No, no, that's okay. This building perfect for us. We'll figure it out ourselves, so don't worry," Joseph reassured his friend, to which Galir chuckled.

"Very well, I will come tomorrow to help you folks with my friends included," Galir responded, and Joseph and his family were grateful for that.

And so, they began to live here and rebuild their new life in this kingdom. Joseph gained a new friend and managed to learn his first gravity magic. But they must prepare because evil will come for them.
