Well, this is awkward. I always find it funny how posts like this usually get the most views. I wonder, whoever you are reading this, if you’ve read any of ITT??? I hope so. I think this shit is fire. Anyway, let’s get to the fun stuff.
Remember when I said I was gonna finish out the series so I can mark it as complete? Good times. Lucky for you, I plan on upholding that promise! Kinda. More on that in a bit.
You see, I have the entire series drafted out down to the chapter. It’s why I’m able to write super fast; I’m not coming up with any of this off top (anymore). That being said, like I alluded to in my last status update and a few authors notes (probably), the version of the story that I have outlined isn’t really ready for primetime. I love ITT, but I don’t wanna do it a disservice. Given the theme of the story and the nature of the characters and how against the LitRPG norm they are, the story was always gonna be experimental. I’m not gonna change that, but I do want to make it a tad more approachable. Right now, I have a rough outline for where I want the story to go and change. Galerose will still be who they are, but their personalities will all receive minor tweaks. Grim, for example, will be more charismatic and a bit less angsty. That angstiness is integral to his character in the first half, but it went a little overboard imo. Opix is gonna be a bit more naive for reasons I can’t get into. Cerus is probably gonna remain the same as she is, but I want her to be a bit more confrontational to fit with the slightly altered dynamic she’s gonna have with Grim. The story is still gonna be more realist than escapist, and it’s still gonna wear its influences on its sleeve. Again, I just want to make sure the story is more consistent and approachable.
This content has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.
For example, I’m altering the worldbuilding to make it so that every world is integral to the upkeep of the Ellalara Belt, because that forces the Rangers to have a much more active presence. It also allows me to make settings feel a bit more unique. For Volume 1 in particular, I’ll say that at this point in time I plan on changing the arc to make it a Battle Royale instead of a spread-out scavenger hunt. That, in my opinion, forces the characters to interact a lot more and create some fun dynamics. Especially where the Rangers are involved.
The biggest tweaks happen later in the story, though I can’t say what I’ve changed bc it’s all obviously spoilers. Right now, though, my goal is to finish my current story then get back to ITT once it’s over. And once ITT is finished, I wanna finish Valkyrie Cadet. Then it’s on to sequels and such. I have big goals for all my stuff. It might take a while to get there, but I’m gonna get there.
Anyway, about that second story, it’s going up later today a little after 12. I’m sure you’re wondering “Why should I read it? Isn’t this on hiatus??? Who’s to say Shirime won’t do it again???”
Well… yeah… but… if it makes you feel any better, I have the first volume written! I’m uploading at a much more manageable M/W/F schedule, so I can at least give you a fun two months. Seriously, though, I’ve finished a standalone and I want to finish a series, too. No matter what happens, I want these stories finished and put up for sale so I can profit off of writing and finally take it out of the “hobby” stage. You’re watching in real time as I learn how to do that, so your support would be greatly appreciated.
Speaking of, I think I got better at writing first person! I wasn’t confident in it a few months ago, but when I started writing this new series it just REFUSED to work in 3rd Person. Tried writing in 1st and the words flowed like water. Maybe I’ve evolved.
Anyway, now that this little rant is over, I think it’s appropriate to get started on ending Volume 1 of ITT. Bad news is that I don’t have the time to write every single chapter. Good news, I have the outlines for them all drafted, so I can just give you a rough summary of what would’ve happened! It’s cheap, but I don’t want another “HIATUS” or “DROPPED” on my profile. Fight me.
I’m gonna write it once I upload this. TRUST. Bye bye now.
