Airi
It's been a week since the first time Haruya come into this world, and of course, my life. Suprisingly, we get along pretty fast, even I don't expect making a new friend is that easy. In the books and fairitales I read, friendship is something so valueable, it have a long story, with each conflict making it stronger.
But... Haruya... he even bought me my favorite food with the money he just got! It's the first day we met! Well, maybe he is just being kind. Yes, it must be just a token of gratitude for me. Mom must have told him.
Plus, it's his second day here, and he was shot by an arrow. How stupid is that?
...
My moods switched suddenly as I gave an envelope to the receptionist. It's sad, three more months, and we have to be departed.
"So, It's done?"
I nodded, then turned to the exit door's direction with a glum face. Hhh... I don't want it...
"... Want an ice cream? I still have some money from 'cleaning' quest I did two days ago."
Please cheer me up in a different way. Don't treat me like a child. I don't know why, but I want to puff out my cheeks at times like this too.
"It's finee, come one, it's three months, we still can do anything we want to do now. Don't overthink it."
...
I don't remember telling him if I am stressed because I am going to be separated with him. And who asked him to give me a headpat!? I also don't remember giving him the permission to do it.
But, oh well, my heart calmed down.
"Hmm... will you live in a dorm?"
I nodded, then sighed all my heart contents out. Ahh... He patted me again. Well, It's kinda stiff, different from headpats from Dad. Of course, he is a bit embarassed and hesitated to do it to a girl he just met.
We walked home from the mailing agency. This is a bit rare, remembering how Haruya will go to the guild everyday. I don't wanna go there, It's tiring. Being surrounded by crowds is drying me out.
"Eh, by the way, Haruya, what spell did you learn yesterday?"
"Ah, sorry, did the smoke disturb you sleep? It's an explosive spell."
Yes, I couldn't really sleep well because of the smoke.
"But why are you learning till midnight like that? you can learn it today, right?"
"Well, Isn't grinding is the best and only way for a mediocre person to beat a prodigy?"
... but he is a prodigy... 39492 MP is really a huge number.
"Hahah, I am not a prodigy, you know... It's just... something"
I don't remember telling him if I am thinking that he is a prodigy or not. Can he read my mind? Ah, anyway, we are home.
I took the key from my pants and unlock the door.
Fiuh, the atmosphere at home sure is the best. Plus, It's neat and clean after I wiped the floor.
...
This house too... I am going to leave it.
"Umm... I think I am going to rest a bit, Haruya is not going to the guild today?"
"Well, I think I will take a nap too, my body is also tired."
If he really is training that hard, maybe it's normal. I don't know the mana usage of magics he use, but it's just a fact if doing magic is tiresome. lose half of your mana, and you will be drowsy, less energized, and tired all day.
Just what the Gods are thinking by asking for mana?
In the history book I read, magic has a history, which is usually called by, "Revolution of Magic"
This text was taken from Royal Road. Help the author by reading the original version there.
The old magic, is done by creating a direct contract with the Gods or Goddesses. We, humans, somehow has always been the cursed ones. Since the old time, human can't use magic.
That's the reason, how devils and angels influenced us, using our own selfishness as a tool to be the media of their war. They seek to get more followers, while destroying the other's.
It's said that one day, a human is chosen by Gods. They believed in him, and gave him the power of God. From that time on, humans, and all races, in theory, can use almost all magic with a new thing called 'mana'.
Dad always encouraged me to search more than what books said, but I don't even have any clue. Why many of us can't use magic, what does 'mana' change in this world. Just what are inside the God and Goddesses head.
Haruya and I went upstairs together, then each went into our room. After taking of my hairband and hairclip, I threw my body to the bed, then cuddles on my pillow.
Aahh... It feels so good...
*Bzzzt
"Aaah!"
I ran to Haruya's room. The hell is he doing? I thought he is going straight to sleep!
Just in front of his door, I stopped.
Wait... what if... he is doing 'it' now... No no no, what am I thinking. Y-yeah, there's no way he is doing something like in that book, r-right?
I blushed when recalled those illustrations.
One day, when I was 11 or 12, I was roaming the library, searching for a good story book. I was happy when I found a book titled, "Forbidden Love" thought if the story may looks like "The Dragon & the Princess" (Beauty & The Beast parody)
I thought if it is good to read a kind of childhood times story again once. I sat on one of the library's chair, and started reading excitedly.
Suspicion grows as I found the poetic language and the story that only told me about the relationship of a girl and her father that is somehow... close. "Maybe it's just the new style" I thought.
Then, everything that I couldn't even say started when the girl heard a moans from her father's room.
Ughh, I can't remove it from my mind, the words which made me not innocent anymore.
Luckily, just in the midle of 'those' act, Mrs. Claire, the librarian working there, pulled the book and yelled at me. I was asked to bring mom in the next day, which I do.
That next day, Mom explained all about genders and 'private things', and I learned to never go to that particular area of the library until I am above 18.
H-haruya... is not playing with his things now, right?
*Klek
The door was opened from inside, showing Haruya with spiky hair.
"Sorry, I was just... trying some magic..."
Fiuh, I am relieved. Hell, no, what did he do until he got all spiky like this?
"A-are you sure? Wait, I will bring you some water"
"T-thanks for that..."
I went down and back upstairs with a glass of water. He drank all of them, and I started to question him. My temper rose all of sudden. I was mad that he just made a dirty misunderstanding inside my brain.
"I just... try some electric magic on this wrench, and got shocked myself, heheheh..."
Screw it! Isn't that common sense if metal conducts electricity? Are you stupid?
He patted my head. I puffed my cheeks, which just made him laugh.
Hey, I am mad, you know?
But... Somehow... I turned calm again, and sat on the opposite corner than where he is now. I was reminded again, that I will be going to a magic school in the capital just three months from now.
I am okay with that, but why now? I mean, I really want to be a good magician, then go on an adventure, searching for my dad. But, now, that I found a new friend, I don't want to lose them.
"Airi, don't worry about going far from this place. You know, in the past, I was used to have just one best friend. But, I never met her at all. Just when it's the time for me to meet her, I was teleported to this world, where I couldn't even contact her."
"I think, distance is just a test, of how strong your relationship's are."
Hearing those sweet words, I looked towards Haruya, who smiled kindly as usual, but looked at nothing with a sad gaze.
...Yes, he is right. Thank you, Haruya, now I am calmed again.
I closed my eyes slowly, trying to feel my breath more than before, stopping all energy flows in my body.
...
Meeting him, is so blissful

"Airi! Wake up!"
Pa...pa... Eh!? Haruya!? Don't tell me, I slept here? Wait, I am on his bed now, though it's just a mat with a pillow and thin blanket. He didn't do anything, right?"
I looked down, but seems like nothing happened when I was sleeping.
"You are not doing any-!"
"DISASTER ALERT, DISASTER ALERT, FOR ALL CITIZENS, PLEASE EVACUATE TO THE GUILD AS SOON AS POSSIBLE"
Oops, I was wrong, something happened. Haruya pulled me up, then just dragged me all the way to the guild. I still couldn't digest of what is happening. All I know is if I have heard that signal several times before, like when there was a torpedo, a flood, etc.
But what? the wheater seems just normal right now.
"Haruya! Airi! Come here!"
Anana called us from the entry of the guild. There, a group of adventurers already gathered. They are in a full gear, just what happened?
"What's going on?"
"Seems like we are right last week. Now, a group of elves and goblins are atta- ARROWS! WIZARDS, YOUR SPELL!"
Then a group of men and women holding a long staff casted a spell, and some kind of wind flows harshly, blowing those arrows to the side.
"Tch, they are here, now, you two go to safety!"
She said... elves? Isn't all races in this world has been united?
Anana and Haruya looked each other sharply before we went to the underground level of the guild. It's crowded there, people are in panic. Mom must be taking care of the situation with her friends now.
Haruya dragged me to a corner, then looked deep into my eyes.
"Airi, I am going to help"
"Eh!? Don't! It's dangerous!"
But, he just smiled and said, "It's all right, I will cover you."
...What does that even mean...?
