The opponent was surprised by Begen. He wanted to form a strategy for Begen’s move, but Begen did absolutely nothing.
‘Yes, I didn’t pour much Shen in that attack, but that doesn’t mean you do nothing… ’
The opponent didn’t know what to do.
Ah, are you perhaps asking what Shen is? It will later be explained, or do you want an info dump right now?
There’s a Wikipedia article about it; I got some inspiration from there if you want to know.
Anyway, a faint, icy blue glow outlined the figure of the opponent. Begen knew what it meant.
It meant the opponent was bringing out more power.
“15 sub-atomic Ice Origin Particles must be enough… ”
The opponent muttered under his breath. Hexagonal ice crystals formed on his hand, slowly forming into a Hexagonal Ice Pyramid with a pointy spike.
The above-mentioned process took a few seconds, after which it was blasted away from his hand.
Now, before we read what would happen to the attack, I would like to tell you about our today’s sponsor Ra-
Cough, there’s no sponsor to tell the tale of, but what I’ll tell you about is the Origin Particles.
Hmm… Let’s see my notes. Ah yes, the World was filled with Origin Energy. Just know that Origin energy is the foundation of this World.
Within the Origin Energy are Mana, Origin Particles, Jing, and various other things that would be used in the plot later.
For now, Origin Particles are the particles that help constitute the Origin Elements which can be formed into other Sub Origin Elements.
The Origin Elements include Water, Air, Earth, Fire, all lived in harmony until the Fire Nation attacked. Sorry, it kept popping into my head, so I had to write it down.
In addition to the elements mentioned earlier, Lightning, Light, Darkness, Sound were also part of the Origin Elements, of which the latter three also had Laws incorporated in them.
The opponent’s attack used 15 sub-atomic ice particles. The Origin Particles were divided according to their volumes and Origin Energy stored within.
SubAtomic, Atomic, Sub Molecular, and Molecular were divided into four categories: SubAtomic with the lowest and Molecular with the highest Volume and Origin Energy.
Of course, there may or may not be higher grades of particles.
Anyway, back to the Arena.
The Hexagonal Ice Pyramid shot by the opponent travelled at the speed of about 45 meters per second.
Without even having the time to react, the Ice Pyramid lodged itself into the thigh of Begen.
Having never experienced this much pain before with his NEET lifestyle, Begen screamed at the top of his lungs.
“AHHHHH…!”
The blood froze, but after a few seconds, the Ice Pyramid disappeared, seeming dissolving in the atmosphere, which unfroze his blood, making it flow again.
Although there was no restriction on killing, it was generally frowned upon as this was a trial for a competition to find some suitable talents to groom for the future of the Island and the 15 Clans Alliance.
This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.
Furthermore, the opponent had no enmity with Begen; as such, the attack wasn’t lethal.
Actually, this was also a probing attack, but of a higher level, to force Begen to show his cards. But, only now did he realise that he had no cards.
Hearing the bloodcurdling scream of Begen, the Judge asked with furrowed brows.
“Can you still fight?”
“Hell no… ”
The Elder had an amused look on her face as she announced the result.
“The Opponent Wins!”
Of course, the opponent wasn’t his name. As I said before, names are hard to think of, so he won’t get a name unless he returns later in the story. But will he?
“Medic… Medic…” Begen shouted, which caused waves of different reactions among different peoples.
Damn those people, when nothing happened to me, they came at the speed of life. Where are they now when you need them?
This was the first time people saw this type of thing in the Arena. No one looked this pathetic before.
As people were talking, one person suddenly brought forth a ‘genius theory’ of his. And this theory would make a tradition throughout the Archipelago one day.
“Is this some kind of skit produced by the Kaag clan to make the Trial more entertaining?”
“Haha… Look at the performance. I wouldn’t be able to tell it was fake.”
“I think so too. Didn’t you see, the attacks weren’t that powerful either… ”
“Yeah, but that guy just stood there doing nothing. Then again, if he started fighting back, it would look like any other regular match.”
“Yeah, in the first battle, did you see how easily his Shen expelled the foriegn Shen. I think he would’ve beaten the guy if he had actually fought.”
“When he fell down the stairs at the beginning, was it also an act?”
“Must be... ”
“...”
“...”
This talk gradually travelled across the audience, and most of the People believed it.
I mean, someone who went to fight in the Arena would at least exchange a few moves, right?
And regarding the thing about Begen beating the guy, yes, he could if he knew how to fight.
The previous person was a stoic character who wouldn’t have even bat an eye experiencing the pain Begen was experiencing right now.
In descending order, the most confused people were his grandfather, the opponent, the elder, and the Trial Organizers.
The medics also arrived. One of the medics took out a herbal paste from his bag while the other cleaned the wound.
After applying herbal paste and bandage, the medic who cleaned the wound asked.
“Wow, you’re so passionate about your job. You could have informed us in advance, and we would’ve been ready, but I guess it would have affected your act.”
“Huh… ah, yes… ”
Begen replied, pondering what she was talking about. The pain had made his head spin, making him unable to hear the chatter from the audience.
There was still pain coming from his thigh, but it was at least 100 times lower than before.
“Grandpa, come pick me up.”
Begen called out from the Arena. His skin was thicker than the girl liviing (see what I did here) next door. But damn, the girl living next door to me is thicc.
His grandfather, with an even confused expression, subconsciously stood up.
He wasn’t thinking of going to the Arena to pick the boy up. But since he already stood up, and people had his eyes on him, he started to go down.
“Sigh… What is happening? This kid’s character has gone full 180.”
After going down, the grandfather and grandson talked about something. After which, the grandfather turned around, his back facing Begen and lowered his body.
Begen climbed on his back and a scene of an old man carrying a teen while climbing stairs was formed.
Begen felt a little guilty making the old man carry him, but his guilt went away after he saw that despite looking old, he was strong.
As they made their way up, he heard the crowd’s chatter and realised what had happened.
‘Wow, I thought my reputation would go through mud, but it looked like it was saved through some misunderstandings.’
The old man didn’t intend to return to his seat and headed towards the exit at the top. He wasn’t as thick-skinned as Begen.
As Begen realised this, he thought of an idea to save his reputation.
When they were about to reach the exit, he turned his head around and shouted.
“Thank You everyone for watching our skit. Me and my co-actors, the Opponent, the Elder, the Grandfather, and the production team behind the skit are very happy to receive positive feedback. There may be some haters, don’t listen to them.”
Realising the kid was shouting something again, the old man quickened his pace, disappearing into the exit as thunderous applause sounded from the audience.
The opponent, the elder, and the people of the Kaag clan were dumbfounded.
Truly, the Actors that didn’t act were the best Actors.
