Chapter 6

x-X-x-X-x

Meanwhile in Babel Tower, high above the City of Orario

High above the city of Orario, in the part of the Tower of Babel reserved for a select few, was a goddess. This was the goddess renowned to all lands, for her absolute beauty. The goddess Freya.

Freya's beauty surpassed the upper limits of flawless perfection. Long silver hair and skin akin in appearance to that of fresh snow along with her flawless figure. Freya's perfect body redefined beauty to all those who saw her.

She sat in a throne-like chair. She was currently playing with the red wine in her glass while looking down below at the souls of adventurers she had a slight interest in.

She had just finished watching a random adventurer from the Soma Familia that had piqued her interest. His rather displeasing display of addiction to that beverage had gotten him killed, by an enemy he shouldn't have even bothered fighting. How disappointing.

There was no one that had caught her gaze for quite awhile now; she'd spotted that sad addict months before. High above the city of Orario, she was using her ability, the [Discerning Eye] to see the color and brilliance of souls down below.

She often used this ability while above to claim those she took a liking to before anyone else had a notion of their value. This made her familia the strongest in all of Orario. Freya always took what she wanted using her looks or by force.

Freya's eyes studied the activities down below, as she played with the red wine in her glass. Nothing was happening today, but perhaps she could get one more glimpse at that boy. She watched him running from the dungeon, covered from head to toe in blood. It seemed like this boy that had gotten her attention had a rather rough day in the dungeon. That was good. The more experience he gets, the stronger he'll become and the faster she will get her hands on him. Still... She will have to tell her familia's captain to keep watch over him so that he does not die.

Barely a minute after the boy exited the dungeon, something came out of it and immediately got a hold of her attention.

Her eyes widened in horror. It was-

*Glass Shattering*

"M-Monster!" She practically screamed while quickly rising from her throne, ignoring the shards of glass that she spilled everywhere on the floor.

The soul's presence was suffocating, one of extreme power that could not ever belong to a mortal. She wasn't even sure that the gods with their full power could stand a chance against this thing, this monstrosity.

Freya was beyond shocked. And that was not all. The creature that came out of the dungeon under the appearance of a small little girl did not even have a divine presence which could only mean one thing; it was simply an overpowered monster created by the dungeon. But not having a divine aura meant that other gods won't sense her as one of them and would mistake her for a mortal. Only Freya with her special ability could know this monster's true nature.

Yes, looking back at the soul of that monster masquerading as a small teenage girl, she could feel that it was still a creation of the divine. But how did the dungeon manage to create such a calamity and why did it not do so before in its thousand years of existence? Sure, there was the Behemoth, the Leviathan and the One-Eyed Black Dragon, but even these special monsters were not even close to the abomination that just came out of the dungeon.

After taking a few deep breaths to calm herself down, she looked at the creature's soul closer. Freya's heart skipped a beat.

Its soul was one of pure evil. No, it was a creation of evil incarnate. A creation of the dungeon that would bring chaos to the entire world and there was nothing that she, or anyone else could do about it…

The goddess Freya fainted and fell back on her throne.
