Chapter 20

x-X-x-X-x

Babel Tower, First Underground Floor

"Although, you might want to consider buying new clothes~. Ah, and borrow a new weapon from the guild~." Shalltear, taking on the mentor role, instructed essentially pointless stuff to Bell as the two of them returned from the dungeon, just as the sun was setting.

"Ah… Err, yes! Will we spar in the dungeon?" Bell asked worryingly, and Shalltear herself didn't feel like sparring in the dungeon though for different reasons than Bell.

"Is fighting allowed within the city grounds?" The vampire asked, not wanting to spend more time than what was necessary in the sickening place that was the dungeon.

Bell thought about it for a moment before answering timidly: "Not everywhere, but my goddess and I live in small church not far from here... We can train in the backyard without anyone seeing us or complaining."

"Then, that's settled~. If that is all, I will see you tomorrow morning~." Shalltear said, and as she prepared to teleport away, something pulled on her shoulder.

This tale has been unlawfully obtained from Royal Road. If you discover it on Amazon, kindly report it.

"Wait m-miss Fiora?! Are we not going to split the earnings for today's dive?" Bell said, blushing as he removed his hand from the vampire's shoulder, seeing that she had turned around to hear him out.

In all honesty, Shalltear didn't care about money. All she really wanted was entertainment to forget that her masters were still very far away from her… This entertainment right now consisted mostly of anticipation for the monster festival massacre and being in presence of this brat whose warm aura resembles that of her great creator.

"Hmm… Aren't you supposed to be registered at the guild to exchange magic stones into your money currency~?" Shalltear asked the boy a question that seemed to confuse him a lot.

"Well yes… Are you not registered as an adventurer?" He asked incredulously.

Shalltear shook her head. "Nope~."

Bell felt a bit puzzled at the charming girl's short response. "Why not?"

"I don't feel like doing it~. You can keep the money~." She waved her hand at the bag filled with magic stones as if it was mere dust.

"I… I can't do that after you've helped me so much!" He exclaimed aloud. Seeing her silence, he went on: "If you insist on not registering, I'll exchange the magic stones and give you your share tomorrow, when we see each other again."

Shalltear felt perplexed by the brat's persistence on giving her half of their earnings, but she ultimately gave up, seeing the determination in his eyes. "Mph. Fine. Do as you wish, little hero~." She gave him a smirk before somehow disappearing, leaving the boy to wonder if her words were to be taken as an insult or not.
