The blood slowly dripped from Silas’s fist as he got up with a surprised expression. Previously in the village Silas knew that some cultivators were stronger than other and occasionally saw them fight with their wisps of fire shooting from their palms while hovering in the air, to Silas these people were all powerful compared to the simple ‘working’ cultivator that would use their spiritual energy to do basic daily tasks at their job. He had never thought that a simple energy infused punch along with the element of surprise would be enough to easily kill a sect cultivator! Was this cultivator too weak or is my body too strong? Silas wiped his fist on the dead cultivator’s robes and grabbed his satchel to take a look inside.
“five light blue stones, one dark blue stone.. what is all this.”
Renult looked on with a cold bead of sweat running down the side of his face, if he knew Silas was this strong he wouldn’t have teased him earlier, even if he is a grey tier earth realm he shouldn’t be this powerful.
“You don’t recognise spirit stones brother? Are you from a rural town then? You have frightful talent for someone that has never seen a spirit stone before, let me show you how they work”
Renult took one of the light blue stone and held it in his palm while sitting cross legged.
“In order to cultivate with a spirit stone simply hold it in your hand and make a connection between your inner spiritual energy and the energy in the stone, once you feel a link you can slowly pull on the strand of energy coming from the stone. But be careful brother, pull too hard and the strand will sever causing energy to go to waste”
after a few seconds Renult stood up and handed back the spirit stone.
“I need to leave, the outer sect leader will come to find senior brother soon, or whats left of him… I need to get back to my duties as well, if you want to get out of here try and find the large tunnel with the red sign post in the outer sect, that will lead to the exit”
without allowing time for Silas to answer Renult pushed his senior brother’s dead body into the hole, closed the latch and pulled the leaver, he then rushed out of the room towards his next duty, he wanted to get as far away from this freak of nature as possible before he ended up like his senior brother.
As Renult left in a rush Silas decided to sit down and cultivate with the spirit stone in the dead cultivator’s bag. As soon as the energy link was formed Silas’s expression changed. This wasn’t a strand of energy, it was more like a stream, and just like that it was over. Silas looked at the now dull grey stone that began to crumble in his hands. I must have depleted it, was this all thanks to that old shaman infusing my whole body with energy? It feels like I can easily make a direct connection with the spirit stone simply by moving my internal energies to the point of contact, this is amazing!
Silas quickly took out all the remaining stones from the dead cultivator’s bag, one by one he sapped the energy until he got to the dark blue stone. Surely this one would contain more energy.
The energy from this stone seems stronger and higher quality and the flow is much larger too, what a fantastic treasure! After a few minutes the stone went from a dark blue to light blue and then mere seconds later it went grey.
The stone had crumbled and yet Silas had not stood or in fact, changed his meditative position whatsoever.
Some change is happening, I can feel it, all my energy burrowing into my dantian, the pain was like a thousand needles piercing Silas’s chest and he couldn’t help but let out quiet sobs as his dantian was reformed.
This is incredible! My dantian has been completely fixed! And it seems like my veins are supplying the pooled dantian energy to my extremities which allows me to continue to freely manipulate it.

“Hey are you done”
“What, who was that?!!”
“Down here, in the pit, are you finished forming you core?”
Silas slowly crept towards the pit in the floor and peered down into the dimly lit pit of carcasses only to find a small looking baby dragon staring right back at him
“You can speak??”
“We are using a mental link numb nuts stop yelling would you”
A mental link hunh, that explains why I can hear this voice in my head but not through my ears.
Silas transmitted his thoughts using the spiritual energy in his mind.
“You are a dragon? I never thought dragons even existed but no only that you can actually talk?”
“Well to be honest you have been the only person I’ve spoken to for a very long time, seems like not many humans can use a mental link for communication, you must be different though. Could you give me a hand and break this purple shackle on my ankle? I’d absolutely love to get out of here”
“And you wont just eat me if you do?”
“Look at this massive pile of gore do you think I’m hungry? Let me go and I will massacre this pitiful demonic sect for ever trying to tame me”
“Ok, how do I free you?”
“Just put as much spiritual energy into the shackle as you can, eventually it will overload the glyph of binding and free my cultivation”
Silas placed his hand on the carved iron shackle and began pushing energy into it, it glowed brighter and brighter and *BOOM* pieces of glowing metal shot across all parts of the pit making pinging noises
“Freedom at last, finally I can make these fools pay for ever preying on my moment of weakness”
“Hey I never caught your name dragon”
“It’s Ilthinad, remember it well young one!”
Silas saw Ilthinad fly through the hole and out the door in a flash, mere seconds later the screams of dying cultivator’s could be heard.
This is my chance to get out of this shithole.
Silas followed the carnage while collecting every satchel or bag on the way unfortunately these were merely outer sect disciples and only had at most a light blue spirit stone or two to their name.
Eventually he arrived at the outer sect main area which was now in complete shambles due to the path of destruction caused by Ilthinad, seemingly he was making a b-line strait towards the inner sect and the sect leader’s pavilion.
Alright no more free loot from here on out if I’m to escape this place.
As Silas was making his way through the tunnel with the red sign which marked the exit, About halfway through he saw a familiar face.
“Renult? You made it out?”
“Senior brother, Did you release that beast from the cage? He is rampaging all over the place, I’m done with this demonic sect, risking my life every day for meaningless scraps with the hanging threat of death from a senior’s bad mood. I’ve been meaning to return to my home Glassthread village anyway”
“Glassthread? Thats just south of my hometown Sentinel township should we travel together? That way I can visit your home on my way back.”
“Yes.. well I wouldn’t mind having an extra set of eyes as protection”
This guy is a monster but he seems relatively sane, unlike those demonic sect fellows I think I should be able to get along with him fairly well, anyways I can just use my escaping technique if he ends up turning on me.
“By the way I never did catch your name senior brother”
“It’s Silas, nice to formally meet you Renult, lets get going, I don’t want any other straggling escapees tailing us”
“Yes, good idea, I need to let my family and fiance know I’m fine after these many months, lets get moving.”
Although Silas and Renult’s hover speed was very slow, their running speed as cultivators was fantastic even at the relatively slow speed Renult was setting they would make it back to Glassthread in a mere half day of travel.
“Glassthread villiage is a major benefactor and trade partner with Sentinel township right brother? Maybe I’ll be able to strike some favourable deals for my little township, are there many strong cultivators there?”
“Nearly everyone is below the Blue earth realm but the town lord just managed to break through to Green earth realm which caused a massive celebration lasting 7 days and nights to occur. The nobility invited many neighbouring powers as a show of strength. With a Green earth realm cultivator leading Glassthread villiage very few surrounding powers would voice opposition to their decisions or actions”
“Hmm so thats how it is then.. I wonder what realm the lord of my sentinel town is, I never used to pay attention to these things before, or couldn’t.”
I just hope I’m a higher realm than that bastard Ting, I cant wait to see his face when he hears what happened to Torg, he will certainly try to kill me on the spot for insolence when I tell him, I have to be ready.
“Your town lord? Hmm honestly I never paid much attention to him so I’m not sure, your sentinel town isn’t a big player in the region as you must know but I’m unfamiliar so I cannot say.”
“No matter, lets get you back to your fiancé, I’m sure you missed her”
