Prologue

The laughter and cheers from the thousands of people gathering in the area filled the air. In a small square that was seemingly out of time, citizens had gathered to celebrate. The small old-timey area was surrounded by towering skyscrapers, as if they had built a wall around the area protecting it from society's advancement.

The people gathered today to celebrate two important figures from their planet Kitania’s history. These two had single handedly changed the tides of war, and their accomplishments were credited for being what set this planet on course for what they eventually became. The city of Gilora where this festival is held every year was even named after these two historical figures, Gil and Iora.

An advanced society with a single government ruling the planet. Hunger and poverty were concepts that no longer existed as those problems had been solved centuries ago. Large scale issues hardly existed on this planet, and most of the current political turmoil came from the stars.

Kitania had taken to space nearly a century ago in search of other advanced societies like themselves, and while they had found others like them, not everyone traveling the stars was as peaceful or friendly as them.

The planet Kitania hadn’t seen war on its world in any of the current citizen’s lifetimes, and while full blown war hadn’t broken out in space they had taken part in a few scuffles here or there. Making nice with the other societies around them had been a top priority for the Kitanian government, and this festival was one of the most successful gatherings for that goal. Every year many other species would travel here to take part in the festivities, and this year was no different.

Kitanians filled the square, their pointed ears and antennae atop their heads, they stood out from the alien visitors. The visiting aliens ranged from quadrupeds with one eye to slime like beings without a stable form.

Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

Amongst the visiting aliens there was a man cloaked to hide his face. He was standing near the stage where there was soon to be an unveiling of what all the people had gathered to see. His messy black hair and beard poked out from his hood, and in a gap between the sleeve of his jacket and black gloves he was wearing his white dusty skin was exposed. He stood in silence, his lack of enthusiasm was a stark contrast to the rest of the crowd. None of the other guests noticed him though in their festivities.

As a bell rang signaling the change of the hour 3 Kitanian men walked onto the stage. A man in the center wearing gaudy and old fashioned robes popular among people from the time of Gil and Iora’s exploits, and a man on either side of him wearing similar, but less flashy robes. The men standing at his side were wearing gloves and each carrying a spherical object covered by cloth.

The men placed the round objects on two podiums sitting on the stage, and removed the cloth to reveal two large 2 foot tall eggs. The crowd who had been loudly enjoying the festival grew silent as they looked upon the two eggs. These two eggs, and what lies dormant inside them were just as famous as the men this festival celebrated. Inside lay sleeping two vicious monsters which the men Gil and Iora had tamed and used to put an end to a long and drawn out war that had nearly brought complete ruin to half of the planet.

As silence overcame the crowd, the man in gaudy robes stepped forward preparing to speak. Before he could begin the speech he had prepared for the event an explosion erupted near the back of the crowd. The voices of the visitors once again filled the air, but this time it was cries of fear. Panic set into the crowd quickly, and in that moment of confusion the cloaked man jumped onto the stage. He casually strode towards the two eggs on display, easily tossing aside the three men on the stage with him when they approached to stop him. He scooped up the eggs and took off running into one of the many alleyways surrounding the square.
