So much had happened yesterday that when Rosalie offered to let Lura spend the night at her home she gave in with little fight. What should have been a simple chase and capture of a thief had snowballed into a mess she was unsure how to resolve.
Lura was stranded on a more primitive planet with no way to call back home for help. The thief she had been chasing escaped with one of the things he had stolen. The other stolen object had been found, but now I was a monster waddling around.
On the floor in front of the couch Lura was sitting on, there was a small monster. Round like a ball with 4 tiny legs beneath it, the creature hopped around as Will played with it. Its body was covered in red scales, and despite looking rigid and sharp, they were soft and smooth to the touch.
Lost in her thoughts, Lura stared blankly at the display in front of her. The monster in front of her was supposedly incredibly dangerous, so much so that after the Kitanian who had tamed it died it went on a rampage. The monster was put down by the Kitanian army, and the eggs had laid dormant ever since. The creature in front of her didn't seem too dangerous to her.
A quick pain in the top of her head snapped her back to reality. She looked to her left and saw Rosalie holding a freshly plucked hair between her fingers. Without even saying a word to Lura, Rosalie ran over to a table and began looking at the hair under a microscope.
After a moment, Lura got up and began inspecting some of the things around the Gray's house. While nothing was exactly the same as back on Kitania, she started noticing similar materials. She looked to the table Rosalie was working at, seeing a variety of equipment scattered about. Some of it appears to be cobbled together.
Picking one of the items up, Lura asked Rosalie, "did you make this yourself?"
Quickly looking up from the microscope then immediately looking back after seeing what Lura was holding she responded, "sure did. Some of the equipment I use is cheaper to put together myself than to buy premade."
"Well, do you think you'd be able to help me look at my ship, and fashion some repairs for it?" Lura asked.
Hearing this both Rosalie and Will dripped what they were doing and rushed up to Lura's side. In unison the mother and son said, "Please, let us see your ship!"
Lura led the way through her forest to her ship, with Rosalie and Will on her heels. In Will's arms was the red creature that hatched from the egg.
"So what is this little guy's name anyway?" Will asked.
"Name? It doesn't have a name." Lura responded.
"You said it was some famous guy's pet, right? It must have a name." Will said.
"It wasn't a pet. It was a weapon. Which is why it being hatched is so dangerous. These things wreaked havoc after their trainers died, which is why we made sure they remained dormant for all these years." Lura snapped.
"Even weapons have names…" Will whispered.
He put the monster in his hand and held it up so they were face to face. It took Will only a moment to choose a name.
"Your name is Cosmo. How's that?" Will asked the creature.
Unable to speak, the red scaly ball let out a happy hissing sound in response. It seemed very pleased with the name Cosmo.
Will chose the name Cosmo from his favorite animated television show, Intergalactic Hero Cosmo. The main character Cosmo, was an astronaut who traveled through Space visiting many alien worlds. Whenever Cosmo saw misdeeds he would always step in to help those who were suffering.
Both Will and Cosmo, satisfied with the name, continued following behind Lura. The group had been walking for a while already, so it was only a few moments until they exited the forest, and ended up in an empty field. The field set completely on the opposite side of the forest from the hill Will used his telescope on.
Lura led the group to her ship, which aside from a few branches tossed over it, was completely exposed. Will put Cosmo on the ground, and began inspecting the ship eagerly with his mother.
Tossing the branches on to the ground, Lura fully exposed her ship to the two earthlings. She ignored their excited exploring, with the occasional shout when they began touching something they shouldn't have. She removed a panel near where her ship had been shot, exposing all the damage the beam had caused to her communications system. Lura beckoned Rosalie over to her.
"Do you think you can help me repair this with materials from this planet?" Lura asked as Rosalie inspected the exposed parts.
Prodding and poking at the mechanisms, Rosalie began to think about what each material inside this ship resembled. After a few minutes of tinkering, and making a mental list of what parts she could try, Rosalie gave a response.
"I think fixing this should be doable. It might take a little trial and error, but I think we can fix it."
"That's good to hear," Lura said with audible relief in her voice.
"However, I won't do it for free," Rosalie said, reaching into her pocket.
She pulled a small cup out and held it up for Lura to see. Lura stared at the cup for a moment unsure of what Rosalie would want.
"I want a urine sample to study." Rosalie said, with a huge smile on her face.
Will and Cosmo had decided to look around the woods for more debris. Finding Cosmo's egg and then meeting Lura had derailed his search of the woods. Plus, Will had gotten his fill of looking at Lura's ship, and when he tried to climb inside she stopped him.
Not quite understanding that Lura and Respyn's ships were built on different planets, Will thought maybe they would be able to find parts for Lura's ship in the debris. Lura and Respyn's ships were made of completely different parts, which is why Lura decided it would be just as likely she could repair her ship using Earth parts.

Will didn't know this however, and went searching the forest with intentions to scavenge parts. Will walked through the woods slowly, stopping and looking back to check on Cosmo. Initially Will was going to carry Cosmo like before, but when Will attempted to pick Cosmo up he wiggled until Will put him down.
Cosmo moving on his own significantly slowed down their pace, but Will didn't mind. The novelty of watching an alien creature with his own eyes was still exciting the boy. Watching Cosmo run, hop, and even trip because his legs were so stubby amused Will greatly. Will had no siblings or pets, so this was his first time watching over such a young creature.
As Will and Cosmo got close to a crash site they heard some rustling in the forest. Being cautious, Will ducked behind a tree. Cosmo, following Will's lead, ducked behind the tree too.
In the distance Will saw a large man, atheist 6 feet tall with a muscular build. He had white dusty skin and long black hair and beard. He walked with a slight limp, but he was moving past where Will was hiding.
As Respyn walked by, he looked towards where Will was hiding, stared for a moment before carrying on. Will instinctively held his breath, hoping not to be noticed.. When he turned to look at Will, Will caught a glimpse of something in his left hand. It was a living creature, ball-like, with blue damp skin, and four stubby legs flailing about. Respyn had a grip on the skin on the back of the creature and was lugging it around like a grocery bag. The creature was desperately trying to get free, but to no avail.
Seeing that, Will knew what it must be. The only thing it possibly could be. It was the creature born from the other egg Lura was searching for.
After waiting a moment to make sure the coast was clear, Will picked up Cosmo and ran back to Lura and Rosalie.
Rosalie and Lura were discussing what to do with Lura's ship. It was barely hidden here in this field, and it was so far away from the Gray's house that it would be hard to keep an eye on.
"We'll put it out behind the house, cover it with some tarps and we'll be good to go," Rosalie said.
Lura agreed, and began climbing into her ship. Before she was fully inside, Will came running out of the forest.
"Will, what's wrong?" Rosalie could instantly tell Will was in a panic.
"I went into the woods with Cosmo to look for wreckage, and we saw a man. He wasn't actually a man though, he had snow white skin. In his hand he had a creature, just like Cosmo, except blue." Will explained in a hurry.
Hearing this Lura jumped out of her ship. "Which direction did you see him, and where was he heading?" Lura asked.
"We saw him down that way, and he was going in this direction." Will explained, using his fingers to point along with his explanation.
Without any hesitation, Lura took off running into the forest. This was a worst case scenario. Not only had the other egg containing a dangerous weapon hatched, but it was in the hands of a violent criminal. Lura put her hand on her belt, gripping a handle of her weapon.
Respyn had been very capable during the battle in space, so Lura wasn't going to underestimate him. As soon as she saw him, she planned to strike first.
Running through the forest at full speed, only being slowed when swerving around trees, it wasn't long before Lura caught a glimpse of Respyn. He was walking in the same direction as Lura, so she had the perfect opportunity to catch him off guard with an attack from behind.
Lura charged toward Respyn. She grabbed the handle at her waist, and with the click of a button it extended to a two foot long baton.
"I'm not exactly in the best condition for a fight right now." Respyn said Without looking back towards Lura.
This surprised Lura, but she didn't hesitate. She closed in behind Respyn, ready herself for a big swing with her baton, and swung down towards Respyn's head.
Respyn nonchalantly sidestepped the attack, turning his body as he dodged to face Lura. His hand gripped his abdomen, as a look of discomfort appeared on his face.
Seeing this Lura decided to focus her attack on Respyn's seemingly injured area. She got into the stance she was trained to fight in, and began making consecutive attacks. With each attack Respyn casually stepped aside avoiding being hit. With each missed swing Lura became more frustrated.
She lifted her baton over her head, and swung down with all her strength. Respyn used this big attack as a chance to fight back. Stepping aside to avoid the baton then lunginging forward, Respyn threw a strong punch into Lura's stomach.
The impact caused her to inadvertently exhale, as the air was forced out of her lungs. Spit dribbled down her mouth, but before she fell to her knees she wildly swung her baton to the side towards Respyn. In an awkward position after the punch Respyn was unable to avoid the attack like he had been doing up to this point. Instead he lifted his hand holding the blue monster, and used the small creature to block the attack.
Lura fell to her knees, and gripped her stomach, gasping for breath. Respyn came up behind her, planted his left foot, and with the right foot he gave Lura a strong kick to the back of the head.
She fell to the ground, her consciousness fading. The last thing she remembered before passing out was Respyn walking away laughing holding the blue creature in his hand as blood dripped from its small body. Then, everything went dark.
When Lura finally opened her eyes she was met with the sight of a ceiling shed only seen once before. She sat up and found herself on the same couch she had spent the night on yesterday. Looking around the dark room she finally saw Rosalie in the corner on her computer.
A moment after Lura had sat up Rosalie glanced over to see her. Rosalie clicked her mouse a few times, finishing what she was doing on her computer, and then she got up and approached Lura.
"You're finally awake," Rosalie said.
"I can see I've been unconscious for a while," Lura responded, glancing out the window and seeing the moon brightly in the sky.
"About 10 hours now. Will and I weren't sure what to do with you, since it's not like we can bring you to a hospital. So we just brought you home and hoped for the best." Rosalie explained.
"It's just a bump on the head, not anything serious."
Rosalie's eyes opened wide at those words. "Seriously? Is head trauma not a big deal for your species? For humans it can be deadly, you know."
Rosalie grabbed a notebook and began frantically noting that down. While Rosalie was writing, Lura stood up, and began making her way towards the door.
Looking up from her notebook, Rosalie tried to stop her. "You should rest until morning."
"I'm fine now. I need to get my ship back here now before the pirate finds it." Lura explained as she walked out the door.
Rosalie watched her leave without another word. After Lura closed the door behind her, Rosalie went over to the table with her microscope and other tools. Now that Lura was gone, Rosalie was free to examine the skin, saliva, and other samples she had collected while Lura was unconscious.
In the dark of an abandoned store, Respyn was standing. On the ground in front of him was a monster. It was a quadruped, with a frog-like body, slimy skin, whiskers on its cheeks, and a long rat-like tail.
The monster that had hatched from the egg Respyn had bonded with had transformed. It was still a blue color, but a much duller blue, almost gray. It was covered in bruises, scrapes, and scratches from where Respyn would beat it when it upset him.
Respyn grabbed a corner of a wooden desk beside him, and snapped a piece off. He took a bite out of the dried out wood like someone would take a bite of beef jerky. As he chewed the wood, he stared at the creature. His head was racing trying to think of ways he could use the monster to better himself while he was stranded on this planet.
