I walk through the door, with a look of achievement on my face. Finally… time to explore the town of Arlemberry, and proceed to take the long way to town in order to not get seen by any guards. When I arrive at town, i'm surprised at how active this place is, and it's also very peaceful.
First step into town, for some reason I am getting nervous.
Second step, seems I am also getting excited.
Third step, I wonder what town has in hold for me.
Fourth step, I am sent flying about 2 meters away from a body check.
“Huh?”, I look around to see a kid my age, with fine black hair, and dirty cloths. also on the ground but seems to be less hurt then me, he is also surrounded by many other kids that are of the same age, and with a similar getup. He spots me and gets so quickly that it seems as though he tries to get up before I can, then walks up to me and lends me a hand.
“Hey, sorry about that, I wasn’t looking ahead of me”, he apologises politely. I take his and and he pulls me up.
“No problem”
“Hey are you hurt?”
“Don't worry, it’s just a scratch.”, he sighs in relief.
“Phew, hey I noticed that I never saw you around this part of town, you new here?”
“Yes I am, this is my first time in town.” I technically did not lie.
“Cool, how about me and my friends show you around town? We know all the best spots to shop and such, want to come along?”, I have no interest to become friends with a bunch of kids, but this can help me get to know the town better and get anything quickly in the future if needed.
“Sure”, he seems to be the leader amongst the group, comprised of 2 other boys and 2 girls, one of the girls stand out quite a lot, and has a look of confidence in her eyes, looking like another leader of the group.

The boy takes me around the shopping district of town, showing me a variety of stores, including restaurants, jewelry, blacksmiths and armories, general shops, and much more. There seems to be a few schools around the place, but only accessible to the fairy economically stable families, which these kids were not, but it did not bother them, they enjoyed being free, yet they still seem to have yearned for it. We stop the middle of the forest, to take a break.
“This place here is out hideout, our territory, you should be honored, we do not even let adults in here.”, I smiled.
“Thanks”
“By the way, I forgot to ask, but what's your name”, not wanting them to give my full name to hide my identity, I only give my first.
“Keith”
“Keith huh, nice name, the names Riley, the girl by me is luna” he points to the confident girl,
“The shy one is casey, the guys are Rim and Ron, they are brothers.” he now points to a slightly fat kid and his pretty skinny brother.
“I see, nice to meetcha”
“Same here”, after our late greetings, Riley walks over somewhere and picks up a stick. With a few rocks attached to it by a rope, and starts to swing at nothing. Luna catches me with a confused look on my face and understands what I want to ask.
“Riley has always had the dream to enter the physical combat academy of the main kingdom, that school doesn't care about the rich or the poor, if you are strong and worthy, you can enter.”, she explains. I did not know a poor country kid would be so determined on something.
“There is such thing as a physical combat academy?”, this made Luna’s eyes go big.
“Yes of course, it's an academy that teaches kids and teenagers about many different types of combat styles, including swordsmanship, which is the most popular, and the one that Riley is aiming for. Success in that field will guarantee a high position in status and many other rewards.”
“I never knew, how about you and the rest?”
“The two brothers just plan to take over their parents farms, but me and Casey plan to enroll into the magic combat academy.”, hearing this made me very interested, I wanted to ask a few questions but she continued.
“But the thing is, it's pretty rare for non noble’s like us to be able to even achieve the chance to have an affinity to magic, in just a few days, we have to depend on our luck.”, hearing this made me forgot about my questions, I was confused as to how to magic system works.
“Do you plan to join the physical combat academy, Keith?”
“No, I also plan to enroll into the same school as you, tje magic combat academy.”, this statement made her a bit confused, which also made me confused as to why she would be confused to my unconfusing statement.
“Male usually do not have a strong affinity to magic, even amongst nobles, so I was pretty shocked, guys always join the physical combat academy, but then again, it's all in the luck of the draw.”, she was right about herself and Casey, but I don't think I have to worry about not having any magic affinity.
