In the mystical confines of a divine chamber nestled somewhere beyond the mortal realm, a goddess wailed like a newborn while drowning her sorrows in heavenly booze. Suddenly, she screamed the name ‘VISHNUUUUUUU’ and threw her bottle of booze through the window.
Fifteen minutes later, in a vastly different world, Roy Petters, a 20-year-old MIT graduate with a fresh mechanical engineering degree, awaited his cab to meet his blind date on a Saturday night. His mind wandered through visions of romantic escapades, filling him with anticipation. "Huh, huh, I'm gonna get busy tonight," he mused, unaware of the twist of fate about to unfold.
Suddenly, an inexplicable force struck Roy's head, and he tumbled to the ground, blood gushing from the wound like a crimson fountain. He started to lose consciousness, as bystanders gathered their cries for an ambulance.
After a moment consciousness returned to him, Roy found himself seated before a strikingly beautiful woman. "Hello, Roy," she greeted him.
"Hi," Roy responded enthusiastically, captivated by her beauty. Wow, she's stunning, way out of my league.
The woman offered an apology, her tone weighted with sorrow. "I'm sorry about this. Please don't be angry."
Confusion etched across Roy's face. "Why would I be angry?"
"Roy," she began, her voice heavy with regret, "You are dead. You died just moments ago."
Roy's disbelief surged. "What? I'm dead? What are you talking about? We are on a blind date." Memories of waiting for his cab and the sudden impact on his head resurfaced.
In his frantic search for answers, Roy observed his surroundings and realized there was no ground beneath him - only the void of space. Panic gripped him. "Where am I? What is this place? Who are you?"
"Please, Roy, calm down," the woman implored, soothing him with her heavenly powers.
Reluctantly, Roy sat down, his anxiety still palpable. "Who are you?"
With a sigh, the woman revealed, "I am Seshat, the goddess of knowledge."
Suspicion gnawed at Roy, prompting him to scan the surroundings for hidden cameras. "Look, lady, I don't like pranks."
"This is no prank, Roy. You truly are dead, and it's because of me," Seshat confessed, her voice heavy with remorse.
"What do you mean? And why am I here? Where is 'here'? You better start explaining!" Roy's irritation grew.
Seshat began to recount the bizarre sequence of events. "Well, you see, my boyfriend Vishnu, the god of preservation, broke up with me for another goddess named Fortuna, the goddess of wealth. I was..."
Roy interrupted her by saying what he was thinking out loud without realizing it.“Hehe… So the dude left the nerd for the rich girl, lol.”
Seshat's vexed gaze met him. "Say WHAT now?"
Clearing his throat, Roy hastily backtracked, "Uhm… Uhm… Nothing, Please continue."
The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.
Seshat continued, "After Vishnu left me, I was drowning my sorrows in an attempt to forget about him. That's when I angrily threw my liquor bottle through my room's window while cursing at Vishnu. The bottle went down and struck you on the head, and you died.”
Roy stared at Seshat for a moment before bursting into mad laughter. "HAHAHAHAHAHAHA, WTF, death by involuntary divine intervention, it's so cool and lame at the same time. Hahahahaha."
Seshat, expressing her remorse once more, explained, "I've already spoken to my BFF Adonia, the goddess of reincarnation. She will send you to another world filled with magic and fantastical wonders. And as an apology for my wrongdoing, I'll grant you three wishes."
"MAGIC! FANTASY! So, all that isekai stuff is real, huh? But I can't ask for wishes without knowing anything about that world. Give me some details."
Seshat expressed surprise at Roy's relatively calm reaction. "You're taking this quite well for a dead person. I thought you'd still be angry even after I used calming magic on you."
"Yep, I'm pretty awesome. Or would you like me to scream and curse at you some more? My Indian friend taught me some 'extraordinary' words."
"........uum….." Seshat began her explanation like a patient teacher, choosing to move forward. "Alright, so this world is another Earth-like planet called Eden, existing in a different universe during the medieval era. Besides humans, there are various races inhabiting this world. As for magic, it's divided into three distinct arts..."
* Elemental Arts
* Fire Magic
* Water Magic
* Earth Magic
* Wind Magic
* Lightning Magic
* Mystic Arts
* Space Magic
* Light Magic
* Dark Magic
* Arcane Arts
* Alchemy Magic
* Enchanting Magic
* Rune-smithing Magic
Seshat continued. “One can possess two different affinities from a single art, but no one can have two kinds of different arts.”
“So, I can have Fire and water affinity together, but not fire and dark affinity?” Roy asked with curious eyes.
Seshat confirmed, "Yes, you are right. Anyway, having two affinities is already rare in that world. And know that, you cannot ask for more wishes, nor can you ask for someone's death.”
Roy, with a sly grin, thought. Hehe, making sure I don’t ask for your life, eh? Smart woman.
Roy proceeded with his wishes, "My first wish: I want all my memories from this life intact. No Hard Drive format."
Seshat granted the wish, prompting Roy to continue, "I want to be born as a rich noble or prince. I don't want to worry about money."
With another granting of the wish, Roy revealed his final request, "I want mastery over arcane arts, all the knowledge there is. The whole shebang!” I’ma make my own Helicarrier and ride it like Nick Fury, without the eye patch though, or maybe with it.
“Oh my! The whole package. A smart choice. Granted.”
Seshat waved her hand, and Roy found himself engulfed in a brilliant light. As he departed, Seshat offered a parting piece of advice, "Try not to destroy the world with your inventions."
Roy chuckled, ready to embrace his new life in a fantastical realm. "Hehe, my isekai life begins."
