“We're here.” Lykan replied. They walked up the final steps to find a giant, sixth dimensional cube levitating atop a pedestal. Its faces revolved and passed through each other in alternate directions, and different colors cycled through it as a bright light glowed from its center.
“Holy shit…” Agnis said in disbelief,
“It's so huge, it's even bigger than we are!” Solrin added,
“Isn't she beautiful? What you're looking at is one of the most powerful objects in the entire cosmos and our only tunnels that connect our realms together.” Lykan voiced.
“So, we're really going to travel to another world?” Solrin asked, the room grew silent, as they gazed upon the majestic cube.
“So how are those things supposed to work, anyways?” Agnis asked,
“We can channel our energy into them like this,” Lykans arm slowly became covered in bright glowing ice as his Tesseract floated above his palm. Lykans energy flowed into the cube as it absorbed it like a vacuum. The cube cooled until cold mist began to ooze out of its cracks, the cube transformed into ice that was the same color as Lykans energy.
The two of them stood in shock, staring in awe at the bright glowing tesseract. As more energy flowed into it, it began to let out a gentle humm as the glowing light inside the cube began to pulse.
“Tesseracts are formless, they aren’t bound by the physics and laws of our universe, Instead they resonate with whatever power we connect with them. It changes form to match the same element it absorbs.”
Lykan looked down at their peering eyes, “When I infused it with cryo energy just now, you see how the cube itself turned to ice.”
The ice around Lykans arm began to dim and then dissolve, they could hear the cube crackling as the ice melted and it slowly transformed back into its true, elementless state, a pure white and gray color. He held the colorless cube in his palm, as the two of them examined what they just saw. Lykan then tossed it into the air, and it dematerialized in an instant.
“Pardon me, my lord, but you say there are mages who are different from us? How and in what ways?!” Agnis’s eyes widened,
“You don't know anything, do you? I swear you’re like a child, we generate our own energy inside our body's inner core, while the mages call upon energy around them. Ah fuck it, just kick there asses if you see them! I'm done explaining.” Lykan said.
The two of them stood silently as they began to further ponder their own existence…
“One more question, why exactly are you telling us about all this? As you know, we are nothing but commoners, my lord.” Agnis asked,
“Plot development…” Lykan said with a serious expression,
“Huh?”
“If by the slimmest possibility I were to die, how do you plan on getting home if you can't even use a cube? You gonna ask the murder mages for a map?”
“You dumbass! You're making us look even worse!!” Solrin yelled,
“Shut up, fat pig! No one asked you!!” Agnis argued,
“Enough! We're leaving now.” Lykan said, he slapped his hand on the Hexeract, his energy streamed through the translucent cube, until it turned to ice. The room around them, the walls, the floor, and the ceiling began to glow green from the light of the giant cube…
“Teleport, Khaos.” The sentient cube whirred to life, and in an instant, the three of them were warped to a new land. …
“Waaah! What just happened?!” Agnis tried to yell, but his voice was met with silence. He couldn’t hear anything, not even the ringing in his ears. His sense of vision and hearing was completely snuffed. He creeped forward, before tumbling to the ground. Was he on the ground? He couldn't tell, the only sense he had left was touch in the dark abyss that trapped him.
His mind was going insane, all of the pressure around him was gone. He tried his hardest to stand, but he had no sense of direction. With nothing left, he screamed until he thought his lungs would burst, when all the sudden, he felt a hand close his mouth shut like a vice.
He saw a pair of green eyes in the darkness, as a figure began to glow, it was Lykan. The green light from his glowing energy filled their surroundings,
Lykan put a finger to his mouth, attempting to calm him down. Whoa! I'm in a cave? I thought I was dead! Like I didn't make the journey.. Is this what other planets feel like!? Agnis looked over to Solrin, who held a hand to his head in pain as he sat on a knee. Lykan placed a headset on Agnis’s head, and he felt instant relief. He could hear his own breathing again, as well as the sound of his heart beating out of his chest. Lykan put the same device around Solrin, who took in a giant gasp of air.
“Feel better? Can you guys hear?” Agnis threw up a puddle on the ground,
“Yes, thank you!” Solrin yelled with tired breaths,
The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.
“Easy, don't scream.”
What was that!? Am I dead?! Did you just bring me back to life?” Agnis asked, Lykan laughed as he waded through the dimly lit cave, Agnis sneezed as he felt his smell coming back,
“I can hear, and see now! Before, all I could feel was the ground under me, what the heck was that!?” Agnis questioned,
“What you felt was the vacuum of space. Congratulations, you survived your first journey to a planet without an atmosphere.”
“Yeah, sure.. so– what exactly are these things you put on our heads?”
“These are called Equalizers. They send electric signals to your brain that mimics your senses. As you may have noticed, there is no air in space. These little things can simulate an environment and trick your brain into not going crazy.”
“That's insane! Who came up with something like that?”
“We did. Or I should say, we are the only ones who could. Whether you realize it or not, both of your bodies are special. Everyone in the Divine Realm, both the Revenants and the Aetherians are designed to survive the vacuum of space from birth.
Take that thing you're wearing off and the emptiness of space might mess with your mind at first, but as long as you don't go insane, your body will adapt and you can live your whole life out here.”
“Hell no! You're gonna have to kill me before I take this thing off!” Agnis yelled, his mouth fell open as Lykan ripped off his own headset, and stood completely unphased, his distorted voice reverberated through the cave walls,
“Oh? So what if you trip and fall and that thing gets knocked off your head? What if you're in a life or death battle and it gets smashed to pieces? You gonna curl up in a ball and cry again?”
“How..? You can hear us?”
“Agnis, Solrin, there are civilizations with millions who live their whole lives on planets like these. Our bodies can adapt, people learn to hear radio waves, they learn to see ultraviolet light. For god's sake, the Devils live on stars!” Lykan flipped his headset back on,
“So, this is normal?!”
“It may be for us but not for everyone, which makes this all the more confusing. I’ve been to Khaos before, if its atmosphere was wiped out, then I can only fear the worst has come for this place.” Lykan said
“Look! There are two paths up ahead!” Solrin said as he pointed at the two tunnels ahead of them,
“Which one should we go through?” Agnis asked, they both stood silently, looking up at Lykan for answers.
“Pfft, as if I'd waste my time walking through a maze, you two are coming with me.” Lykans wings folded open as he lifted off the ground. Just then, a chilling wind from Lykan’s increasing aura blew past them as Lykans body turned into a translucent state of black ice.
His armored ice body reflected off the caves freezing walls, as he shot himself upward, slamming straight through the rocky ceiling above them. Like a drill he dug a tunnel through the ground above him before finally breaching the surface. The others followed. The sun sat above the distant horizon, everything around him was nothing but red, smoldering ash. Everything from beyond the horizon was nothing but black, charred ash and its crumbling remains…
“How? How did they cause all of this destruction without anyone knowing? And in such a short time? Why did no one call? No one bothered to ask for help or reinforcements.. Dammit!!”
“I– will fight by your side, my lord.” Agnis said,
“As will I, no matter what happens.” Solrin added,
“Well, aren’t you brave? I like that. Now then, both of you look there, remember when I told you that we don't need an atmosphere to live? Unlike us, the people from the Celestial Realm dont have that option, any mage would die without air, that alone is enough to tell me this wasn’t a battle, it was an extermination.”
That's one fallback we could always rely on, if a last resort ever came, we could destroy our own atmosphere to run the Celestials out, or so it should have. Lykan thought. He flew even higher, until he reached orbit. The planet was cracked into pieces, with red magma seeping out from its core. The two of the followed behind,
“You two, do you see that ring of rock orbiting around? See how the world is broken in pieces? That's what happens when planets collide, meaning, they threw a fucking moon at it.”
“T– There's no way someone can have that much power..”
“There are people more powerful than you could ever know, now i need to focus, both of you, press the button on those equalizers.” Lykan said, the two of them felt the cold metall earpieces until they found a switch at the top.
“This ain't gonna explode, is it?”
“Just press the damn button. Itll connect you to one of my chairmen, I've ordered him to answer any question you have.” Lykan replied, the two of them heard a radio signal buzz through both ears.
“Greetings, Agnis and Solrin, under lord Lykan, i will now serve as your guide, don't be afraid to ask-”
“This is awesome! How convenient to the pl– wait, what's your name again?”
“Call me whatever you wish”
Lykan turned and summoned the tesseract to his palm, it expanded, revealing its inner works,
“Open relay to Pyrole.” Lykan commanded, strings of wavelengths around it began vibrating into a radio frequency, the waves began to pulse in and out as it tried to find a connection. The three of them lowered back to the ground,
“Take your time you piece of shit!!” Lykan yelled.
“Ok chairman guy, how does the cube like lord Lykan is holding work?” Solrin asked. A voice in his head spoke, Lord Lykan is likely using the Tesseract as a communicator, Tesseracts are controlled through the commands of one's thoughts, it can be told what location to look for and teleport to. Each galaxy has a different vibrational frequency, and a Tesseract must first harmonize with it to connect with others throughout the universe.
“Wow, got it.. So what would it take for me to get one of those?” Solrin replied, the voice chuckled, “You would have a far easier time buying yourself a planet.”
“The fuck?! But it's the size of my hand?”
“Maybe so, but the dimension cubes are by far the most important artifacts in any universe. The Tesseracts, the Penteracts, and the Hexeracts, they are extremely few in number, and cannot be reproduced. They are objects created by the Founders themselves, without them, it would jeopardize our entire existence.” The chairman replied,
Moments later, the cube let out a pulse, before the wavelengths began to calm. He walked over crumbled stone walls that littered the streets,
“Wake up Hylix for me, would ya?” He commanded. Lykan sat on the side of a stone pillar and waited, watching as the echo of his voice reverberated through the Tesseract's electrified strings, as the cube continued on a search through a land of fire. …
