Instant Movement, a movement ability that uses focused energy to move straight forward with incredible speed. This movement ability uses the advantage of a bent body that would reduce air resistance while moving forward. The difference between Instant Movement and leaping forward is their distance between feet and ground floor. When leaping forward, you can’t help but reach a different height than usual while leaping. Even the smallest parabola always have different heights, and jumping always uses the parabola theory.
On the other hand, Instant movement uses the burst of leg strength at one point to move forward incredibly fast, without jumping. This can be achieved by lowering the knee, making the ground and the starting foot perpendicular, with leg parallel to the ground, and fingers or at least thumb still touching the ground. The result of this action will be like hovering just 1 centimeter above ground and avoiding enemy’s sight for an instant.
Tethra got excited by this and soon tried to stand up, just to sit again because of his broken right leg. This annoying broken leg. Now, he couldn’t try Instant Movement for a while.
“Ouch, what should I do? I can’t get back if I’m like this and there is no one helping to bring healing pills or something”
Suddenly a light flashed in front of Tethra and engulfed him inside. From the perspective of a spectator, all of a sudden, he just vanished from there. Bai Ning actually saw the whole event with her True Eyes, she was just about to save Tethra when he almost fell, unexpectedly, Tethra was able to cross that distance without any cultivation. She got astonished by this new disciple of her sect. Yes, she is actually the Sect Master of Divine Ravine of Hope, but everyone thought she is just an ordinary Outer Disciple and she likes deceiving her disciples.
“What an interesting young man. Let’s see if he can pass the trial for disciples below Revolving Qi stage. Strangely, he didn’t have any qi, how did the trial even recognize him?” Bai Ning wondered about Tethra’s situation but didn’t dwell on it further and just left to inform someone to guard this place.
=====-------=====
Tethra opened his eyes and found a whole new world, a wide area that extended as far as eyes can see *cough* can’t see.
“Whoa!”
Because it is filled with darkness everywhere.
“What the hell! Where am I?” Tethra obviously got frustrated being suddenly transported into a dark place. Additionally, this dark place has a depressing aura that makes him depressed. He actually started to get depressed just from being here. But, his wonderful mood switch activated and saved him from the depressing mood. That mood switch really helped a lot. By just forgetting it he could surprisingly force the depression out.
Actually, that was the first trial, the test of mental strength. Usually, the disciples would be forced to hold back depression from reaching their core, if they couldn’t, they would be sent out to the other cliff near the Orpheus statues and forever be banned from testing again. This trial can only be entered once by a disciple below Revolving Qi stage. Traditionally, the Elders of the sect will send them to the other cliff to take the trials when they are ready, and that is up to the disciples what they would gain from the trials. Half of the people, though, got sent out by the First Trial : Trial of Mental Strength.

Tethra still didn’t know that he passed the first trial that easily. Now, he was limping forward because he saw a light in front of him. Without any other choice, he had to limp there, otherwise, he would be trapped here forever. After passing the light, he found a training room. A room where there is a punching bag, a track, and a bench. The wallpaper and ceiling are blurry, like a censored content. While still examining the strange training room, out of nowhere, a projection of words appeared in front of Tethra.
“Welcome to the Second Trial : Trial of Limits. Here, we will test the limit of your body potential. In front of the punching bag, you have to punch as strong as you can, and on the track, you have to run as fast as you can. All wounds will be temporarily healed here. Now, trial, start!” The projection disappeared after around 1 minute. Tethra didn’t get confused and just did what the projection told him to do. Why? Because he is not that bored to reason with a projected image and he didn’t really want to think too much, it tired him (and the author).
He walked to the punching bag. He half squatted and put his hand on his waist with the palms heading upward. This is one of the stances from the martial arts memory he got when part of the seal opened. Though, he still didn’t know what kind of martial arts it is because the main pieces were still trapped inside the seal. Clenching his right fist, he shot it towards the punching bag while maintaining his left hand in palm position. The punching bag stayed still and didn’t even shake.
“Weird? The memory said it will bring most of the concentrated power from the body. It said by opening the palm of left hand, you can circulate and borrow the power of the sky and half-squatting is to borrow the power of the earth. By doing that, you can balance both and release it from your right fist. What bullshit. I will just punch regularly then” But before he managed to punch it, the punching bag broke and fell with a dull sound. “Thud”
“Now, that’s strange, I thought the punching bag will shake at least or something, but it just fell like that. I should just run on the track” Without any other method to repair the punching bag, he just kicked it aside and started to head towards the track. Tethra didn’t know that the inside of the punching bag was already a mess. Chips crushed everywhere, electricity flowed uncontrollably, but luckily the skin of the punching bag is strong, else it would have exploded already.
Tethra started to run with all of his might on the track. The chip below the track started to count Tethra’s speed. Tethra, surprisingly, only ran normally, not using footwork or something like that. The opened martial arts memory only contained some steps but it was not for running, rather for dodging. Feeling helpless about the memory pieces, he just ran like how people usually run. The machine didn’t show his score but another door of light instantly appear in front of Tethra.
Tethra ignores his urge to sit because he really wanted to get out of here fast. He wanted to know the situation outside and he needed help too. If he missed the chance when another person passed by, he would be forced to wait longer. So he resolutely stepped into the door of light even though he was tired from running with all of his might.
By not sitting, Tethra again safely passed the second trial by chance. This second trial tested the limit of one’s body and mind. The punching bag and track forced you to draw your potentials by bringing out all your arm and leg strength while the bench tested your willpower. If you sat just because of a run and a punch, you will be disqualified. Normally, a lazy person will sit if there is a chair in sight and Tethra is exactly a lazy person. His hurry saved him again from getting disqualified by the Second Trial : Limits of Body and Mind where most of the leftover disciples got disqualified.
By this time, Tethra already reached the Third Trial : Test of Qi. This one described the test by infusing it to one’s mind. The third trial, from the information he got, was done only by scanning the person’s body and based on the trials before, he would gain merits suited for his use that would help him in his way to the peak of the world.
After digesting the information, Tethra saw a tube around 5 meters tall placed near him with a diameter of 2 people. The other thing is the same other than the tube, it is still the same dark world with just darkness, him, and the tube here. It seems the third trial is the easiest one because the limit of qi could be scanned just like that. Everyone that reached here could always pass this test flawlessly. But there was one thing that disturbed him greatly.
“I don’t have a shred of qi! How can I even pass this trial??!!”
