Ripples pushed through the tearing sea. A ship the size of a castle passed through the sea with little effort. Children ran across the stern to bow, letting out loud, joyful laughter as they stepped. The adults sat on their long chairs with their wine looking out onto the beautiful, blue sea around.
Here on this glorious ship, all those, from high-middle class commoners to even those nobles, were unreserved in their relaxation and entertainment. All were equally joyed by their vacation on the ship named “Diakopes” and its wide structure.
“Gigi, it’s time to eat!”
A young mother yelled out to her young boy while she was simultaneously embraced by her husband's clothed body. The boy quickly ran to his mother, yelling his goodbyes to the one playmate he had. The boy began to jump around in excitement as he began to question what delicious meal they would be having for dinner that night.
The young mother crouched down to become eye level with her boy. Her index finger pointed towards the sky as it approached her lips and a sharp sound of breath escaped from her nearly closed mouth.
“It’s a secret. You’ll just have to wait and find out.”
The boy’s cheeks puffed outward as he wished to know the answer immediately, but he eventually released the air filling his cheeks and looked down toward the deck.
“Okay.”
The boy’s disappointment struck the parent’s heart like a hammer, but she resisted the urge to spoil the surprise. As the mother looked at the young child with great glee, the woman’s husband, who was a head taller than his wife, leaned down and began to speak about dinner before spewing whispers of sweet affection into her ear. The wife blushed quite a bit as she hit the man lightly on his right breast. After finishing her assault on her loveable, she let out a quick cough.
“Let’s get back to the room so we don't miss the food.”
The family of three quickly headed back to their room, smaller than most on the ship but much bigger than the houses of the average citizen. Soon, a knocking came from the other side of the door. It was the food they had ordered.
A delicious collage of foods filled their field of view. An assortment of some of the best quality food the world had to offer to those lower than royalty. The meal began, and, by the end, the family of three had all been stuffed by their varying portions.
Since the meal had concluded, the man, who was his son’s father and his wife’s husband, picked up the sluggish woman who had become drunk due to wine that was drank through the course of the long meal. The husband, who had also been blushed by the alcohol, turned to his son in a sort- of embarrassed manner.
“It’s about time for bed. Go relax and try to fall asleep. I’ll get your mother to fix you your favorite for breakfast tomorrow.”
The young boy quickly jumped from his seat and began to shake his head vigorously in an up-and-down motion. He ran into his room and closed the door quickly.
It was only now that the young wife began to regain sobriety, but as she did, her husband began to speak sweet, alluring, and loving words into his wife’s red ears. After the words were over, the young woman quickly averted his gaze, her blushing face obvious to the man.
…
The next day came, and it was just as beautiful as the last. The sun’s rays beat and reflected off the water’s surface. The boy had once again begun to play with the playmate from before as well as a few other children. The husband and wife duo sat next to each other in the lounge chairs and either looked at the sky or looked at each other.

With a strike of lighting hitting the ocean surface, a sudden fog engulfed the ship’s whole body. The fog left everyone, passenger and crew alike, confused by the odd phenomenon. The ship, which had traveled this same voyage many times, had never come across such a phenomenon.
All persons stood and watched the sight, their eyes wide and their mouths agape. A sudden burst of yellowish-orange light came bursting through the fog as a ball as dark as night pierced through the fog, hitting and knocking off a large piece of the shit that it came into contact with. The ball very soon after hit the water with a loud splash and explosion.
The young woman quickly ran to her child, who was now frozen by fear. She quickly grasped the child and began to hug the quivering boy. The tears came through the boy’s eyes and the mother’s soon followed.
The woman’s husband rushingly ran to the two of them. Another flash of orange light flashed through the fog. Another loud crash enveloped the fog-filled ship.
“We need to get to one of the emergency boats! We can’t waste time!”
Another ball came from the abyss and smashed through the ship. The ship had now begun to sink to the direct hit to its lower half. The family of three began to move toward the midpoint of the ship, where all the emergency boats had been loaded.
An orange flash signaled the call of another ball of mass. Then another. And another. They were coming faster and faster with each passing moment and each correct shot. One of those balls just barely flew past the loving family of three who wanted nothing more than to keep each other safe.
The ship began to rock violently as did the sea. The sinking of the ship, as well as the rough waters, made the trip to the emergency boats a difficult one. Many times objects of varying sizes would come falling from one side of the boat due to its now uneven nature.
The young woman and boy had far from a good amount of stamina, especially in comparison to the man who had once served in the army.
“Come on! We don’t have that much farther! Just a little m-!”
With a loud explosion and an orange flash from beyond the void, The sound of a splatter along with the breaking wood so close led the father to turn back. His heart fell to the pit of his stomach. The wife he loved so much, had now long most of her upper torso in just a short instant.
The young boy stood there in silence. He held onto the separated arm of the young woman whilst his body convulsed from terror. Before he even had time for his knees to give in, his father rushingly lifted the boy off his feet. The boy’s tears flew through the air as they continued to the boats.
The balls continued to fly and destroy anything in their paths. The explosions continued to ring in the ears of those close enough to hear them. The son and father duo had now come extremely close to the emergency boats but still were far from out of danger.
As the boy shivered, the father was persevering, trying to keep his only son alive. When they were finally close enough to the boats, all had been taken by those passengers and crew, whether full or taken by those of wealth. As the last boat began to move, the young boy's father began to yell out to the departing boat.
“Take us with you!”
From the ship, another voice cried out to the man.
“There's not enough room!”
The man gritted his teeth as his arm weakened before bulging out. He screamed out once more.
“Then can you just take my son?”
The one who replied before looked around for a moment before affirming the father. With that small amount of affirmation, the father threw his son from the ship, which was now sunken so low that people could jump onto hard ground and survive with just a few broken bones. The boy’s body crashed into the boat’s interior full of passengers. He could feel his thoughts falling still with each passing moment. He wasn’t gonna be able to stay conscious for much longer. The balls summoned by the orange light continued to fire at the nearly sunken ship.
As the boy’s vision faded, so did the ship that his father was on. The orange lights engulfed the previously giant ship, leaving only a few scraps of wood on the surface. The boy’s tears flowed from his eyes as he watched the scene.
As his vision faded, he could see an illusionary boat of light come from the shadowy fog and the direction from which the orange light had been coming from. Standing on the bow of the boat was a man in a large hat that covered his head. The man's face had long rotted and was now more attuned to that of creatures in legends.
