Chapter 8

Chapter 8

As the most technologically advanced tool to survive a catastrophe, the cabin had many special features aside from providing protection against strong forces. One of these features included with ability to heal a seriously injured person and provide them the nutrition and care they needed in order to survive. Though the cabin had sustained major damage and most of its features were broken, that small inner room that his parents had stashed him in was only moderately damages, so many of its features were still working.

When the boy fell into the inner cabin and lost consciousness, the inner cabin started to administer the treatment he needed in order to survive the wounds he received from the leopard. A long, long time later the boy slowly regained his consciousness.

Getting out of the inner room, the boy noticed that the sun was currently rising over the horizon.

I’m alive….the boy thought to himself as he moved his hand to feel the wound the leopard had given him. To his surprise he found the wound was already closed and aside from some minor scars nothing else remained showing his wound. Furthermore, aside from a slight pain he felt from his nerves when he touched the wound, he felt nothing else from. Looking at the inner cabin he just came out from, the boy could not help but wonder just how long he was unconscious for his wound to have healed to such an extent.

Sitting next to the inner cabin, the boy started thinking about what had happened when he met the leopard. Though he was still young, one of the most important lessons that he had learned was the value of introspection. Without analyzing a situation and figuring out what went wrong or what went right, one would not be able to advance.

After deliberately thinking about what happened, the boy slowly came into a very simple conclusion: he had been too careless and his sense of danger just wasn’t there. He had brazenly walked into an unknown place without taken any precautions against any dangers that may arise. He had not even tried to move stealthily or even stopped to carefully observe his surroundings; he had just walked straight in, saw what was around and walked deeper and deeper into the forest without a sense of danger, he had not even thought of the possibility of encountering a dangerous animal.

Shaking his head at his recklessness, the boy could not help but admit that it was a miracle that he had survived. He shudder thinking about what may have happened if he had ran into an animal that was less sadistic that the leopard….

Getting up from the ground, the boy started to look around the cabin. To survive in this island where incredibly strong animals or more like monsters lived, he had to get some sort of weapon. Considering how big the monsters that he had seen were, and his own small stature, he came to the conclusion that what he needed was a weapon with a long reach, and the first thing that came to mind was a spear. So the boy started to look around for something he could use to make a spear.

Arduously sorting through the wreckage of the plane crash, the boy eventually found a few things he could use in the creation of his would be spear.

The first series of useful things he found in the wreckage were three small metal pipes that were used in the inner workings of the planeand were broken into pieces during the TP. The metal pipes range from 1-3 feet in terms of size, and they were all about 3 inches in width.

While searching the cabin itself, he found a drawer containing a few miscellaneous items.  To turn these metal pipes into his would be spear shaft, the boy started taken out a few of these items from the drawer.

The first item was a bundle of Nano-material string. This string was virtually unbreakable and was even stronger than regular rope, making it a good material to tie up the broken metal pipes together. The second item he brought out was a small bottle of industrial grade adhesive. If he used the adhesive to glue the metal pipes then they would come together a lot better than if he were to use the string. Unfortunately though, due to the way that the metal pipes were snapped by the TP, they could not exactly be glued together.

The last two items he brought out were a pair of adhesive resistant gloves and scissors. Putting one the gloves, the boy took the scissors and cut 2 long strings from the bundle.

Taken one of the strings he cut, he submerged it in the adhesive bottle before grabbing 2 of the metal pipes and tying them together with the adhesive dipped Nano-string. Taken the 2nd pieces of string, he dipped that piece as well into the adhesive bottle before grabbing the 3rd metal pipe and tying it to the 2 pipes he had joined together earlier.

Though it was not aesthetically pleasing, the boy had created a shaft that was about 5 feet long as the base for his spear.

Aside from the metal pipes, the boy also found a few sharp pieces of metal, though they were still relatively dull. The biggest of these pieces was about a foot long. The boy decided to use this biggest piece as the spear tip. Taken some of the smaller sharp metal pieces, the boy started sharpening the edges of the big piece.

Through long hours of arduous work, the boy was eventually able to sharpen the tip of the metal shard to the point that it’d be able to stab into an animal. Realizing that with the tools at hand he would not be able to sharpen the metal shard further, the boy cut another piece of string, dipped it in the adhesive bottle and tied the shard to the metal shaft.

As he admired his workmanship, he was distracted by his gurgling stomach. Looking up he saw the setting sun. He had unknowingly worked the entire day to create this spear without a break. Now that he had finished his work, the tiredness and hunger that he had set aside came back at full strength.

Putting down the spear, the boy slowly got up from the ground and got into the inner cabin to rest.

Over the next several days, the boy trained with the spear, getting a basic handle on how to use this spear that he created. He did not want to fight a monster with a weapon he was not familiar to.

Days later, the boy decided to explore the forest again, though he would not enter from the same spot as he did last time for fear of running into the leopard again.

This time, the boy did not rush into the forest, but rather he took his time observing the outer parameters of it. He found many edible plants and fruits in that area.  After who knows how long of surviving on nutritional packets, he was happy to actually eat whole, favorable food.

Over the course of the next few weeks, he walked deeper into the forest and eventually made it to about 500 meters in, and during the course of that time he did not encounter any significant dangers.

On this day he ran into the first animal since the incident with the leopard. Observing it from being a tree, the boy noted that this animal resemble a boar that was about 2 meters tall and had long fangs going down its mount. Observing the boar and its surroundings, the boy quickly came up with a fighting tactic for when he fought it.

Nervously holding his spear, the boy eyed the boar with a hungry look….it had been so long since he had last tasted meat.

As if feeling that someone was eyeing it like if it was food, the boar got restless and started looking around. Before the boar was able to notice him, the boy quickly hid behind tree and held his breath, not looking at it any longer.

Eventually, the boar stopped searching around and started eating the grass restlessly.

Seeing that the boar was looking the other directing while eaten, the boy held on to his spear tightly before charging at the boar and stabbing it in the back.

Due to the low penetrative ability of the spear tip, the boy was not able to bury the spear all that deep into the boar, but he was able to leave a small hole in it where blood was slowly dripping out.

Feeling someone stab it from behind, the boar let out an enraged howl as it turned around to see who stabbed it while it was eating.Seeing that what had stabbed it was a creature smaller and scrawnier than itself, the boar got even angrier, as it charged at the boy.

Seeing the boar charge at him angrily, the boy hurriedly moved to the side, avoiding the charging boar. Right behind where the boy was standing was a tall tree towering into the sky. Unable to stop himself, the boar ended up charging straight into the tree at full strength.

Taken advantage of the momentary daze the boar was in from slamming into the tree, the boy quickly stabbed his spear several times into the boars back, creating several holes that spilled blood.

As the boar regained consciousness, the boy quickly positioned himself in front of another tall tree.

Seeing the perpetuator of the pain on his back, the boar quickly charged towards the boy in enraged state. Again, the boy quickly dodged the charge and started stabbing the boar. While stabbing it this time, some of the stabs landed in holes that he had created before; and to his surprised the stab went even deeper than before, enlarging it further. It was then the boy realized that even though his spear tip was a bit dull, by concentrating all of his stabs in one spot, he would be able to deal more damage to the board.

Realizing this, the boy tried to stab areas where he had stabbed before, but due to inexperience, many of his stabs did not land 100% on target.

Seeing the boar regain consciousness again, the boy went ahead and positioned himself in front of a new tree.

This time, when the boy saw the boar after it had turned to face him, the boy saw that the boar was swaying side to side: it had clearly experience blood loss from all the wholes he had created on its back.

Though clearly feeling weaken, the boar refused to believe that it could be defeat by such a small creature. So again it went ahead and charged towards the small boy without learning its lesson.

Dodging the boar one last time, the boy got behind the boar and started to quickly thrust his spear into it. After stabbing his spear consecutively for 5 minutes into the boar, the boy realized that the boar should have regained consciousness from its daze long ago. It was then that the boy recognized that the boar had long died.

The boy then dragged the boar away from where he had fought it, and to his base, before any prying animals came to see what was the raucous.

Time was something that was hard to tract if one found himself alone.  As the boy slowly got accustomed to life in the Island, he grew stronger, faster and developed into a true predator.

He learned how to track his prey; how to hide his own movements, tracks, and presence; how to take advantage of terrains; how to fight while losing the least amount of energy; how to optimize his movements and attacks; how to take advantage of his enemy’s weaknesses. He was growing more and more accustom to surviving alone.

If there was anything that he needed to fix, it was the inner fear that the leopard had created in him the first time he had entered the forest. After he had survived that ordeal, he was fine at first, but as time pass he had nightmares occasionally about the leopard, about its smiling face and ecstatic look as it hunted him. As time passed, these nightmares became more frequent, and eventually the boy came to the conclusion that things could not continue this way, he had to get rid of this inner demon that had formed inside him. And the best way to do this was to kill the root cause of this: the leopard.

Though he wasn’t sure what happened after the gorilla chased after it, during his time exploring the forest, he had found traces of the leopard and realized that it was still alive.

In fact over the past several weeks, he had tracked the leopard to what he believed was its home.

Before killing the leopard, there was one thing he had to admit, and that was that he was still weaker than it. So the way to kill it was to set a trap for it.

During the time he was searching for the leopard, he had taken the remains form his own prey and started building traps form them. He sharpened the bones he could, and he repurposed the fangs of his prey as the center pieces of his traps.

Finally the day came where it was time to hunt the leopard. To hinder the leopard from being able to detect the traps he had set, he decided the time to engage the leopard would be during sun set.

As the sun slowly set over the trees, the leopard returned home. But to its surprised it had found that its home had been ruffled through. Letting out an enraged roar, it quickly became attentive and started searching for who had dared to trespass in its home.

Off in the distance, it saw a small familiar figure running down a path. As he looked at this small figure running away, memories of a prey that escaped long ago slowly surfaced in its mind.

Realizing that this was the prey that escaped from him all that time ago, an ecstatic smile appeared on its face, what kind of joy would it received form killing a prey that had escaped long ago? How would that prey feels after finding that it was still killed by it even after escaping so long ago?

With a smile on its face, the leopard quickly chased after that fleeing figure in the distance. The smile on its face though was short lived.

Slowly after it had left its home, the leopard felt pain traveling through its paws, looking down it found that he had stepped into a sharp object. All around the outside of its home, small sharp objects were pointing up.

Wondering how those small sharp things got there, the leopard quickly brushed off the pain it felt and ran after its prey in the distance, catching that prey was where its priorities lay, not finding out why small sharp objects surrounded its home.

Looking forward, it saw that its prey had stopped running and appeared to be taking a break. How dare it take a break while I’m hunting? The leopard pouted to itself.

“WROARRRR”

Giving out a lot bestial roar, to its satisfaction, the leopard saw that its prey had gotten scared and started running away even faster that it was before.

As the leopard passed the spot where its prey was resting, 2 large logs suddenly appeared from its side, aiming to squish it.

Noticing the 2 large logs incasing it, the leopard quickly jumped high into the air, avoiding them. Seeing the 2 logs smash into each other below it, the leopard could not help but wonder where they came from.

After landing on the ground, the leopard quickly resumed chasing after its prey. As it got closer and closer to its prey, the leopard found that the path it was going down seemed a bit familiar, though it couldn’t quite remember why it looked familiar.

Furthermore, along this path, there seemed to be countless objects that were hindering its hunting. If it was not logs appearing out of nowhere, it was the ground being covered in many small sharp objects or suddenly caving in to reveal large spiked bones. On more than one occasion it even encountered a trifecta, where after stepping onto some small sharp things on the floor, 2 horizontal longs suddenly came down from its side, and at the same time, the ground beneath it caved in. Rather than get smashed in between 2 logs, the leopard chose to fall into the bone spikes. Since such bone spikes would be able to penetrate into it all that much, might as well bear with it.

With so many traps along its path, even if the leopard did not run into a 3 pong trap, it still could not avoid everything. As time passed and its body became filled with more and more wounds, it realized that something was wrong, it started considering actually stopping chasing its prey and going back home, the satisfaction it felt at finding its prey again was long gone. Looking forward toward its prey, it found its prey standing still in the distance looking at it with a mocking expression.

It was then the leopard realized why this path seemed so familiar, it was the same path it had chased and toyed with this prey all those moons ago. And just as it realized this fact, it also came to the sudden understanding that all those things that stood in its way today were made by that small prey in the distance.

A burst of humiliation and rage suddenly overcame the leopard, how there that thing that he could kill with a single swipe of its paw scheme against it? With renew anger, the leopard started chasing after its prey, but this time, it was far more careful that before, and rather than step around everywhere in the ground, it decided to step on only the spots its prey stepped on. It figured that since its prey was fine stepping on those spots, surely it would be fine too.

Unfortunately for the leopard, it found that even though it stepped on the same spots as its prey, those obstacles, somehow still magically appeared. It could not understand what was going on. How could its prey be fine stepping there, but when he stepped in those spots, things magically appeared?

Looking forward, the leopard saw that the boy was about to leave the forest again. Unwilling to see this happened, the leopard gave a laud roar, jumped towards a tree, kicked off against it and shot forwards towards another tree.  Just like that, jumping between trees, the leopard started getting closer and closer towards its prey. It figured if stepping anywhere on the ground would be dangerous, then it just won’t step on the ground, even if it had to use a lot more energy to move forwards.

As the leopard saw itself getting closer and closer to its prey, a sense of relief overcame it. It had finally escaped those hindrances. Just as it was about to land on its prey, it found itself touching against something that suddenly flung it back.

Landing on the ground with a confused expression, the leopard tried to get up, only to realize that its body was not responding to it. It would not listen to its command when it told it to get up. Watching its prey head towards it in a menacing fashion, a sense of fear slowly spread through its body.

Arriving in front of the leopard, the boy lifted his home made spear and thrusted it into the leopards neck. Giving the semi-dull nature of the spear tip, that initial thrust was barely able to pierce through the leopard’s skin. However this was no problem for the boy, one thing that he had poured great efforts into practicing were his precision and his rapid thrust skill. Like a small Gatling gun, the boy repeatedly thrusted his spear into the same spot on the leopards throat over and over again.

Just like that, the boy slowly killed the leopard that terrorized him with each spear thrust……

With the moon shining high above, the boy slowly fell asleep after carrying the leopards remain back to his base. That night, the boy had the best sleep in a long, long time.

Slowly stretching after waking up, the boy looked at the leopards remain as he thought about the previous day events.

His entire plan to kill the leopard rested sorely on one key point that he deduced about it, and that was the leopard’s sadistic nature. When setting up his plan, the boy had set up everything under the assumption that if the leopard saw him, a prey that had previously barely asked from it, its sadistic nature would act up and it would ignore things that it otherwise may not have. In other words, in the pursuit of a euphoric state, the leopard would ignore everything else. The boys gamble proved to be correct. Once the leopard caught sight of him, its sadistic nature took hold of it, and it ignored those small sharp objects that were literally thrown all over its home. And these small sharp objects were the 2nd key to him killing the leopard.

During the boy’s time exploring the island, he had found many different plants that had wonderful effects. For all intents and purposes, one of these plants in particular was an aphrodisiac plant; a plant that would heighten the sense of pleasure a person or animal was feeling.

By coating the sharp objects the leopard first stepped on with the extract of these plants, the leopard’s sadistic nature was further enhanced, and its normal sense of danger was replaced with a pursuit for a euphoric state.

Due to this enhance sadistic state, the leopard failed to notice that later objects that he stepped on or inflicted wounds on it were coated with something that was slowly spreading through its body and paralyzing it. This was a 2nd type of plant the boy found when exploring the island, a plant that paralyzed the nerves of whoever ingests it.

By the time the leopard realized that it had slowly lost controlled of its body, it was already too late. It was already paralyzed, and was just waited to get butchered.

Finishing his stretches, the boy started to long task of dismantling the leopard. He had already decided on what to do with the leopard’sremains. The leopard’s fur he would turn into cushy bedding and its bones he would turn into his survivor tools.

Taking the leopard’s front forearms, the boy used his adhesive glue to past them together into what would be his new spear shaft.

From the four paws, the boy also removed the middle, longest, sharpest claw and glued them together into a four sided pyramid before attaching it to the new spear shaft. Taking the fangs of the leopards, the boy fashion them into a sharpener for his new spear tip.

Just like that, the boy had created a new, more powerful spear out of the remains of his most hated and feared enemy………..

As the sun and moon continuously rose and fell and the days passed, the boy began to lose his sense of time.

By the time he had realized it, he had grown into one of the strongest beings on the island, becoming the overlord of his own territory.

One day, as the boy was roasting his newly caught prey, he heard a sound coming from the opposite side of the island. It was a sound that he had never heard before on the island but somehow sound familiar.

Growing curious, the boy grabbe3d his spear and dashed off towards the sound he heard. As he got closer to the sound, a feeling of excitement and anticipation that he hadn’t felt before on the island slowly overcame him.  The closer he got, the stronger this feeling became.

After he had grown significantly closer to the source of the sound, he had also started to hear sounds of fighting, which unnerved him a bit.

“AAAUUUHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!”

Letting out a loud bestial roar, the boy redoubled his speed as he ran towards the sound of combat.

As he saw the scene in front of him, the captain of his ship, the S.S Titania, he could not help but curse. Many years ago he had and his ship had been contracted by a powerful and rich man to find the remains of a plane crash that happened, however miniscule the chances of actually finding it may be.

Though they had searched all over the ocean, they had had no luck in located the plane crash. However, as they years passed, the man that contracted them refused to give up, and every year he would continue to send them out to search for the crash site.

From the captains understanding, the man’s only daughter and her family were on that plane, and he at least wanted to find their remains to give them a final resting ceremony.

They had just set out a few months ago to begin this year search. They hadn’t searched this particular part of the ocean yet, and upon coming here they found a large island that was not in any maps.

Though he and his sailors doubted that the plane crashed on this island, whenever they found an uncharted island, hope that they’ve finally found the right place rose in them. Over the years, their hopes had been crushed many times, so when they saw this island, although they hoped they found the place, their expectations did not rise by much.

As they got closer to the island, they turned off the ships deep travel Ion Sphere.

Just when they were about to reach the island, a magnetic wave suddenly hit this part of the ocean and scrambled all the advance technology on the ship. Taken pre caution measures, the ship quickly landed on the island. They had encountered many magnetic waves on the ocean, and whenever they did, the electronics and advance pieces of technology would temporarily become disabled. It was something that they had gotten used to over time.

As the started debarking the ship to stretch their legs and begin searching the island, deeps growls began coming from the forest in the distance. Hearing the growls coming from the forest, the sailors could not help but curse…the island had ferocious animals and to make matter worse, the main defensive gear were down.

With the advancement of technology, old style guns that utilized bullets were replaced by laser and thermal guns. Old style guns became a thing of the pass with only collectors or sailors having them. Due to the magnetic waves that are quite common on the oceans, most ships would have some old style guns and cannons for emergencies.

As the sailors took out the old style guns, wild animals started coming out of the forest and charged towards them.

Engaging the animals charging out of the forest, the sailors quickly suffered casualties. While they had no issue killing the dumb animals with the guns, the smarter ones prove to be more deadly. Often they would hide behind a large dumb animal that would just charge head onto a rain of bullets.

When the animal in front died, they would then quickly overstep them and continue charging at the sailors, due to the fact that the large animals were able to cover a significant distance, they were often able to reach the sailors without dying. Furthermore, because of their reaction speed, they were often able to avoid the stray bullets.

Within minutes, the beach was covered with the bodies of animals and a few sailors. As the battle was about to heat up more, a load bestial howl came from the forest.

As this howl reached the beach, many of the animals attacking the sailors got scared and turned around, quickly leaving the area.

As the sailors saw these ferocious animals turn around and flee, they could not help but get nervous for what was coming while defending against the few animals that stayed behind.

It was then that with surprised expression they saw a man dashing out of the forest holding a spear made out of bones. This made was a bit over 6 feet tall, was tanned, had a large bushy beard and though he did not have bulging muscles, the muscles he had where filled with explosive power. Furthermore, all that he was wearing was a loin cloth made out of animal pelt, and on his body they could see scars all around.

As the animals saw this man come out of the forest, the sailors were able to see a flash of fear pass through the remaining animals, before they quickly turned around and fled.

With a confused expression, the captain of the ship walked in front of the sailors while waiting for the man that was heading towards them after exiting the forest. As the captain saw the man walk towards them, he suddenly found himself having trouble breathing. He felt and oppressive might with an unbridled killing intent wash over him as he locked eyes with the approaching man.

Quickly moving his eyes away, the captain noticed that many of the sailors around him had a similar reaction. His instincts couldn’t help but scream at him that this man approaching them was very dangerous, perhaps far more than the animals that attacked them.

The man finally stopped walking when he was about 5 feet away from them.

“Cough couch, I am James, the captain of this ship. Thank you for your help. Is there a human tribe living here?”

Regaining his composure, the captain quickly introduced himself and asked the main question bothering him: was there a local tribe living on this island?

As the main heard James voice, a sense of confusion covered his face….how long had it bee since he actually interacted with someone else….

As James saw the look of confusion on the man, a look of understanding crept on his face as he turned around and yelled at a sailor behind him.

“Damn, guess he speaks another language. Andy come here and translates in all the languages you know.”

Hearing James call someone called Andy to translate, a smile appeared on the man’s face before he responded to James original question.

“It’s ok. I understand. I live alone on Island.”

Hearing the man respond to his question with a broken voice, almost as if he hadn’t spoken in years, James was mildly surprised. He lived alone here…

“Ah were you stranded here by chance?”

Nodding his head, the man consented to James’s question.

“hmm, as thank you for helping us out, do you want to return to civilization with us?”

“Can I bring mom & dad with me?”

“Your parents? I thought you said you lived alone on the island?”

“Mom and dad’s remains”

Hearing the response from the man, James grew even more confused. Was his entire family stranded here and only he survived?

“I suppose that’s ok. Where are there remains, I’ll send someone with you to pick it up.”

“I live on the other side of the Island.”

“Hmm, otherside….it might be dangerous to have someone crossed with you. Once ill ship is working again, well take the ship to the other side. It should be up and running in about an hour. In the meantime, do you want to explore the ship with Andy?”

“Ok”

As James watched the strange island men go into the ship with Andy, he could help but wonder about his origins.

Very quickly the ship was in working order again. Boarding the ship with his sailors, James ordered them to navigate to the other side of the island. Before starting to search the island for any possible crash sites, they’ll go to the man’s living area first and start from there, that should area should be slightly safer.

Very quickly the ship made a circled around the island and arrived at the opposite bank. Seeing what looked to be small house close to the shoreline, James correctly guessed that this was where that island man live. As the boat got closer to the shoreline, James saw Andy coming towards him with the island man who now had his beard shaved off. To James surprised, beneath that furry beard, the man had a very youthful face.

“Andy?”

“Sir, while walking around the ship we walked through the barber area, and when I asked him if he wanted to have his beard cut off, he said yes.”

Nodding his head, James order the disbarment processed to start.

When they arrived at the man’s house, he saw hundreds of wild animal bones and fur everywhere. Even the big structure he had seen in the distance was covered with a giant animal fur.

Seeing all the remains thrown threw out, James could not help but gulp; this man truly treated the ferocious animals on the island as prey.

“Is it ok if we take these animals’ fur and bones with us?  They can be quite valuable.”

Nodding his head in agreement, the man wondered off with a few sailors holding 2 large coffins. He was leading them towards the remains of his parents.

“Captain!! Captain!!! Come over here quick!!!”

Shortly after order his sailors to gather up all the valuable animal remains, he heard the frantic yell of his sailors.

“Calm down. What’s got your panties up in a bundle?”

Berating his sailors for acting and yelling so anxiously, James made his way towards where the sailors where.

“But captain, when we removed that giant piece of fur covering the structure, we saw this.”

“!!???? This, this is……!!!???”

Right where the sailor was pointing at was an image of a giant golden lion coming out of a sun.

“This is the log of Lyons Enterprises!!??”

“Captain, there are many metallic remains around here; they appear to belong from a plane!!!!”

As James recognized the logo of the lion, the frantic calls of other sailors rang out identifying the remains as being part of a plane crash.

In the distance, with his shocked filled eyes, James saw the man returning with some sailors. Though he was afraid to look into his eyes, he curbed his fears and looked into them. To his great shocked, those eyes looked exactly the same as the daughter of the man who hired them.

Quickly running toward the man, with a more respectful tone, James asked:

“How long have you been on this island?”

While confused about James sudden change in turn, the man started to think deeply about that question before shaking head.

“I don’t remember I lost track long ago. When I first came here I was about this tall.”

Lowering his hand, the man showed James how tall he was when he first arrived at the island. Hearing the man’s reply, James quickly asked another question.

“Is your name Nicholas?”

With a surprised look, the man nodded his head.

“your alive…your alive…….”

Watching James go into deep thought, the Nicholas could not help but look at him strangely.

Coming to his senses, James turned to look at Nicholas before explaining.

“Your grandfather asked us to search for you when the plane went down 12 years ago.”

As he watched that strange sphere cover the ship as the island grew smaller in the distance, Nicholas felt James come to his side.

“That is an Ion sphere. About 5 years ago there was a huge breakthrough in protective technology. That is the result. The sphere separates the ship from the current plane and hides it in a different plane. You can think of it as a dimensional travel devise. It makes traveling the ocean much safer. The only downside is that it greatly reduces the speed you can travel at. To reach South Carolina in NA, it’ll take us roughly a month.  You remember incarnation right? It was finally released a year ago. During this time, you can use one of the capsules on the ship to go into incarnation. Take this time to slowly get used to being near other people and communicating with them. Also try to control that killing intent emanating from your eyes…..”

As he heard James rattle on, Nickolas started thinking about Incarnation. Before the accident, there were rumors that MEG was almost finished developing it, looks like it was finally finished. Incarnation……how will this new world be? He could not help but wonder to himself.
