Chapter 3: The Decision to Return

Chapter 3: The Decision to Return

Mu Chen held a glittering sword in his hands, excitedly caressing the gems embedded on the Bi Shui Sword.

Each gem on the Bi Shui Sword was of exceptional quality. If he could take this thing back to Earth, he would make a fortune.

"Young Master, what do you plan to do with this sword?" Qi Si asked curiously.

"What to do? Return it, of course!" Mu Chen said matter-of-factly.

Qi Si frowned. "Return it?"

Mu Chen nodded. "Yes."

Mu Chen did not want to find himself broke just after arriving, especially since the original owner had spent his entire fortune on this sword. He had the receipt for the sword; returning it within fifteen days would get him back ninety percent of the yuan stones. It would be a disaster if the sword ended up worthless in his hands.

"Wasn't the sword intended for Young Master Zhuang Yu?" Qi Si asked, puzzled.

Mu Chen nodded. "Yes, but didn’t he refuse it?"

"Young Master, don't be disheartened. As long as you sincerely offer the sword to Young Master Zhuang Yu, I believe he will eventually accept your kindness," Qi Si advised.

Mu Chen internally rolled his eyes, thinking: Why should he desperately beg someone, who indirectly wants him dead, to accept his gift? Is he supposed to burn money because he has too much of it? Besides, Zhuang Yu isn’t even his type.

Mu Chen dismissively said, "There are plenty of fish in the sea. Zhuang Yu is just a pretty face, nothing more. With all the time and energy spent on him, I could be wooing several others."

Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.

Mu Chen sneered to himself. According to his memories, Mu Chen was a playboy who flirted around before meeting Zhuang Yu, after whom he suddenly turned abstinent.

Qi Si looked at Mu Chen, his expression turning strange.

"But Young Master, didn't you say before that out of the weak water three thousand, you only choose one ladle, and you had chosen Young Master Zhuang Yu?" Qi Si inquired.

Mu Chen looked at Qi Si coldly, making Qi Si feel uneasy. "Young Master, is something wrong?"

"Nothing. Just, don’t you think you talk too much? How I decide to act, do I need to explain it to a servant like you? What are you to question me?" Mu Chen scoffed coldly.

Qi Si, full of embarrassment, said, "I’m sorry, Young Master. I overstepped my bounds."

A flash of hatred passed through Qi Si's eyes, which Mu Chen did not miss. According to his memories, the original owner was quite generous to Qi Si, providing him with resources. However, Qi Si, ungrateful and treacherous, still treated the original owner like a fool, which was unforgivable.

Mu Chen gave Qi Si a cold glance. "Leave. I don’t need your service here."

Qi Si's face changed before he left.

Watching Qi Si's retreating figure, a trace of killing intent flashed in Mu Chen's eyes. Knowing Qi Si harbored ill intentions, Mu Chen wished he could get rid of him sooner.

However, being new here and too hasty in getting rid of a confidant might raise suspicions. Mu Chen decided to bide his time for now.

"Qi Si, kicked out by the Young Master again, huh!" Zhao Er looked at Qi Si with a bit of schadenfreude on his face.

Qi Si clenched his teeth. Though he was a man of Mu Yuanhang, his allegiance was supposedly to Mu Chen in the open. Now, with Mu Chen’s cold attitude, the other servants also showed him less respect.

"The Young Master is in a bad mood," Qi Si said.

Zhao Er laughed coldly. "The Young Master has sent for Ren San to come back."

Qi Si's expression changed. Ren San was a servant left to Mu Chen by his mother, previously very much involved in taking care of Mu Chen but was not to Mu Chen’s liking due to his dull and stiff manner. Having been sent away by Mu Chen before, his return now suggested Mu Chen truly had changed.

"What exactly did you do, Qi Si?" Zhao Er asked, looking at him.

Qi Si awkwardly replied, "I didn’t do anything!"

During this time, he had indulged Mu Chen in a life of luxury and debauchery, which should have satisfied him. The only dissatisfaction might be not winning over Zhuang Yu.

Qi Si pursed his lips. Losing Mu Chen's trust would mean he'd also become worthless to Mu Yuanhang.
