Chapter 2: The training room

In the small office, Raven continued to cut the wooden hanger until his skill level increased to level 4.

He was an orphan on the earth, which made him quite willful. Eventually, he became an avid gamer. He also enjoyed spending quite a long time in games, which made him a loner. Without family, without friends, his life was very boring. And so, it was natural that games attracted him even more than an ordinary person.

When he was once again spending time on his phone playing a game, his life ended with him getting into an accident.

However, now that he has ended up in this world, and he clearly couldn't understand how, the first thing he decided was to become stronger to protect himself. Moreover, he is very interested in this new world, although it may bring him dangers, but all of this can be compensated by the plugin.

He didn't think deeply, just feeling that as in the game, leveling up, he only felt better.

As before, following an inexplicable feeling, he adjusted his stance and other aspects.

His stance changed a bit, from quite standard, it turned towards an open stance.

The sword was lowered a bit more than before. But for him, this was much easier and more comfortable than the previous stance. What he couldn't determine was whether the striking power and speed had increased.

But looking at the pieces of the hanger scattered all over the floor, he still decided to postpone this matter a bit.

"There is a way to become stronger, and it is very fast. Considering how much the plugin helps me. I could develop not only in one direction, adhering to one tactic. But on the contrary, due to the experience multiplier, it seems I can become an all-round expert.

The main thing in such things is usually the time spent, and the plugin directly reduces the time of the effort spent.

If without the plugin, I swung the sword 11,000 times to raise the skill level to 4, not knowing how much time it would take. And now it took only 5 minutes.

Now it seems the best option is to stay at the academy, as there is a lot to learn and improve various skills here.

But the problem now is how to acquire skills?"

Putting the sword aside, he sat down at the desk and began to think.

Based on game mechanics, skills can be obtained in various ways. One is to learn from a master, the second is a skill book, and the third is killing monsters and gaining skills from them.

"The first and last methods just need to be checked, as for the second, based on fragmentary memories, I can't remember a single case similar to a skill book."

"However, looking at the skills I have, I still have skills necessary for training. Unlike swordsmanship, the other skills are clearly not as simple as they seem. Of all four, one can only single out, besides swordsmanship, also mana control. The remaining two, I can assume, can be improved based on the situations. For example, combat mastery is clearly necessary to be in battle. As for magical sense, it is less clear, I just need to figure it out."

After thinking for a while, he looked at the clock on the wall and prepared to leave the office.

According to his memories, there is a more suitable place for training than this office or any other place.

This is the training ground, which is more like a virtual place than a real one. Since special magical means are used there to simulate a real battle or situation.

He needed to check if he could raise his level of mastery.

"Based on what I know now, this academy specializes in cultivating powerful people to confront demons and the Abyss. And the lessons start the day after tomorrow. Today, all the students are arriving and will be distributed to the dormitories, and tomorrow there will be an opening ceremony.

Finally, the day after tomorrow, the lessons will begin, where the professors, teachers, and instructors, among whom I am now included, will teach everyone.

Although Raven was able to start working in this place, he became the most experienced instructor who has been in the academy for a very long time. Judging by the memories of the instructor, he is more likely to spar with the students so that they can gain experience."

Thinking, he walked through the empty corridors, the atmosphere around was somewhat different. Here and there, one could see various statues depicting brave warriors, mages, and others in heroic poses killing demons.

Remembering that he is now half-demon, a slight chill ran down his spine.

Taking a deep breath, he went down the stairs, leaving the teacher's building and heading towards the building across, passing through a small garden.

On the way, he finally met several other teachers as well as several students. Judging by their relationships, they were clearly acquainted. But not paying much more attention, Raven finally reached his destination.

A huge circular structure resembling a colosseum, entering inside, one could see a huge screen at the top front, which displayed various ratings.

There was a general score rating, and divisions such as teacher rating, student rating, and so on.

Anyone who saw these ratings would wonder who is first, and Raven was no exception. He looked at the overall rating where it was written:

[First place: Wandering Purity 14213 points]

Reading the name in first place, Raven seemed to remember something. The director of the academy is a powerful man named Tarnus. A person who wields the magic of destruction, and with his power can destroy everything in his path.

"He is the most dangerous person, if he finds out that I'm a demon, I don't know what might happen. But that I won't be able to run away is 100%."

Sighing, he headed towards the training room, he could only secretly become stronger and fulfill his role as an instructor. The fact that others do not yet know about him is not for nothing, it seems the person who sent him the holy water is either just checking or has other motives.

If you come across this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.

Approaching the room, he entered it using the device in his hand. Almost all people have such a thing, it is located in the center of people's palms. Using mental commands, it can be activated.

The device is based on magic, but its functions are very familiar to Raven. As it reminds him of a phone.

After accessing the room, he entered.

As soon as he entered, a window appeared that was different from the game one he had. It was similar to the device in his hand.

[Select mode]

There were many options, from the simple where enemies do not attack to the fierce monsters similar to those from the Abyss. But now Raven didn't need anything else, he chose the training mode.

The room in front of him underwent a slight change, as if a computer game was loading textures around.

Next to him appeared an armorer, where all kinds of weapons were presented, from which he chose a sword. When he took the sword, it was no different from the real one, he could feel the sword, after which a simple mannequin similar to a human also appeared in front of him.

Approaching closer, he held the sword by feel and looked at the mannequin.

"Now I need to confirm whether I can improve my skills through this."

He quickly swung the sword and precisely cut off the mannequin's head, the mannequin immediately fell to the side and turned into small pieces and disappeared.

[Skill: Swordsmanship (experience +1 * 1000)]

"Oh, as expected, it still works. However, it seems just swinging will be boring."

Thinking, he changed some parameters of the room, although it was also training, but the mannequins became 2, but they also begin to attack holding swords in their hands.

Getting ready, he prepared.

Immediately, the two mannequins jumped at him without waiting for his reaction, with difficulty dodging the swing of the sword of the first mannequin, he blocked the other with his sword.

While he was opposing the second one, the first one straightened up and struck him in the back with the sword.

Unable to react, he felt a slight numbness run through his back, immediately a small window popped up showing his health points.

One blow of the mannequin knocked off half of his life.

When the mannequin began to swing a second time, Raven finally started acting. Gritting his teeth, he pushed the sword in front of him, forcing the mannequin's sword to step back. He turned around and quickly slashed the first mannequin, dividing it in two.

As he took a stance to confront the first one, his gaze noticed something.

[Skill: Swordsmanship (experience +1 * 1000)]

[Skill: Combat Mastery (experience +1 * 1000)]

The first notification was not a surprise to him, but the second surprised him. Moreover, the skill was at level 0, due to which it was immediately raised to level 1 with the help of the plugin.

The effect of the skill came immediately, looking at the mannequin in front of him holding a sword. He subconsciously began to feel how he should act.

Clearing his mind, he rushed towards the attacking mannequin.

Again the swords clashed, causing sparks, but this time he did not miss the opportunity, and holding the sword in one hand, his free hand began to act. Clenching his fist, he hit the mannequin right in the face, the mannequin clearly imitating a human, so upon receiving the blow, it reacted.

The blow stunned him for a moment, forcing him to take a step back, Raven did not hesitate, turning the sword, he made a big blow, plunging the sword straight into the presumed heart of the mannequin.

The mannequin froze for a moment and then disappeared into tiny particles.

Raven was breathing heavily from all these movements.

"I thought that my level 4 swordsmanship would save me, but now it's clear that I need more mastery. Although I can use the sword faster, I have no experience in battles. Even on Earth, I didn't fight, which is why at first I couldn't do something like a punch in the face to gain the upper hand. I limited myself, but combat mastery clearly made me understand how to fight."

Taking a deep breath, he thought about his situation, but seeing the result of the skills, he actually felt more excited. Opening the status, he saw that the "Combat Mastery" skill only needed 5000 points of experience to reach level 2. Although it should be said that it is small only due to the help of the plugin.

After resting for a few minutes, he summoned two mannequins again.

Unlike the first time, this time he attacked first. Quickly swinging the sword, he forced the first mannequin to go into a block, and then he kicked the mannequin in the stomach with his leg and switched to the second one.

The second mannequin swung, he slightly turned to the side so that it would step forward. The next second, he slashed the mannequin's back with his sword and, without waiting for the mannequin to turn into particles, he attacked the second one.

A sword swing to block the mannequin, and then a light kick with his leg and decapitation of the mannequin.

[Skill: Combat Mastery (experience +1 * 1000)]

[Skill: Swordsmanship (experience +1 * 1000)]

[Skill: Combat Mastery (experience +1 * 1000)]

Simultaneously with his actions, the corresponding notifications also appeared.

This time his breathing was normal, he immediately started the third round again with two mannequins. He needed to first get the Combat Mastery skill to level two to see what to do next.

The third round was even faster than before.

Finishing it, he summoned only one mannequin to quickly deal with it and get the second level of the skill.

[Skill: Swordsmanship (experience +1 * 1000)]

[Skill: Combat Mastery (experience +1 * 1000)]

As soon as the skill reached rank 2, he didn't feel anything immediately.

"I want to try something. Given that this room is not deadly, I could allow myself more than just 2 mannequins."

And so he directly increased the number of mannequins from 2 to 10.

Holding the sword in his hand, he looked at the 10 mannequins that appeared right in front of him. His heart began to beat frantically, although he understood that he would not die in this place and it was just training. However, the visual impact was greater, 10 mannequins did not look particularly special, but their number made him feel some oppression.

Slightly bending his legs and taking a stance with his sword, he focused on them.

Immediately after the start, all 10 mannequins rushed straight at him.

Tightly gripping the sword in his hand, he also accelerated towards them.

3 meters from the mannequins, he suddenly braked because he noticed that a mannequin had already swung at him. The sword made an arc, barely missing him, but at the same time Raven did not waste time.

[Skill: Combat Mastery (experience +1 * 1000)]

Immediately, instead of cutting the mannequin, he kicked it with his leg. The movement was made purely subconsciously.

The mannequin that was kicked was knocked back, knocking into two more of the same.

[Skill: Combat Mastery (experience +1 * 1000)]

Raven quickly raised his sword and blocked the swing of another, pushing it aside so that two other mannequins did not reach him.

[Skill: Combat Mastery (experience +1 * 1000)]

Quickly kicking in the stomach, Raven swung his sword at another, performing the same evasive actions. Due to his maneuvers, all the mannequins' attacks were unsuccessful.

Turning to the side, there was another block, after which this time he easily decapitated one of the mannequins.

[Skill: Swordsmanship (experience +1 * 1000)]

[Skill: Combat Mastery (experience +1 * 1000)]

During the actions, he again and again noticed how combat mastery was increasing.

The next few seconds, the tactic was exactly the same, swing, successfully forcing the mannequin to block the blow. Kick to hinder the others from swinging their swords, as well as occasionally decapitate one of them.

Finally, when he had done this 4 times, a special feeling suddenly appeared. At the same time as he felt this, one of the mannequins swung at him. Raven, however, did not panic and did not block the blow, he slightly leaned back.

The sword quickly passed by him, in the next second the mannequin's head was cut off. Realizing that combat mastery had reached level 3, Raven's next actions were very corrected.

Without blocking, he easily avoided the sword from close range and immediately decapitated.

A few seconds later, he stood panting heavily, his eyes burning and he felt a little haughty. Looking at the sword in his hand, he swallowed and said:

"This is too ethereal and captivating a feeling."
