I sat on this wall that looks like they gave up halfway through building it. "Ok I got us orange and sweet and sour," Remi said sitting next to me. As I grabbed my chicken, she grabbed my plate and put my chicken in her mouth.
"Hey that's mine," I said.
"Then take it from me," she said, smiling with chicken in her mouth. I moved over and kissed her to take the food from her mouth. "I like this part of town. The graffiti art really brings it all together."
"Yah it's nice."
"You know, you don't look bored anymore, you look happy."
"Cause I'm happy."
"I think it's cuz you're getting one sweet puss."
"Hey language, that's disgusting," I said blushing.
"I love it when you blush," she said resting her head on my shoulder. We just stared out at the city, watching people and cars go by. "Ok, so what next?".
"Let's hit the manga shop." We walked down to the manga shop.
"Right here, this is where my book will be one day," she said.
"Yah how's that going?"
"It's almost done," she said, all cherry.
"Can't wait to read it." I grabbed a book off the shelf, it had a guy with red hair and a young boy in front of a spaceship.
"What about this one?" I asked.
"Bandits in space, give it a try." After we left the shop we walked back to my place. As we walked up I stopped as a face hit me.
"Kire," I said quietly. Remi hid behind me. Kire was standing in front of my door looking at me. Her short black hair sat on her plain face.
"There is a lot I could say," Kire said.
"Why are you here?"
"Why am I here, because I'm back."
"Could have fooled me, I thought you were gone forever."
"What do you think happened?"
"When no one tells you anything there is nothing to know."
"I'm sorry for that, but I'm back for good."
"Well I want you gone for good." The air was quiet.
"Look, I believe we can work this out."
"You worked this out yourself when you left." I could feel emotions rising in me.
"No, I won't stand for that we need to talk."
"I'm not going anywhere with you."
"Look I heard about what you did after I left and it's ok."
"Oh, it's ok, yah it has been since you left."
"I can leave so you two can talk," Remi said.
"That would help," Kire said.
"It would help if you shut up Kire," I said. Remi clung on to me.
"Who is this girl Tuminaro?" Kire asked.
"This is Remi, my girlfriend, and don't call me that."

"Wow, that was fast."
"I'm done with this conversation. Just leave."
"Ok but I'll be in town if you want to talk," Kire said walking away. I walked by her and opened my door.
"I can leave if you want to be alone," Remi said. I grabbed Remi, kissed her and moved her to the bed. I rolled off her after we were done. "How are you feeling?"
"I feel like screaming."
"I know you don't want to see her, but maybe you should tell her all your feelings before you never see her again."
"Or I could cuddle you forever." I said wrapping around her. I could tell she was thinking about something, but I didn't have it in me to ask her what it was. The next day I came in to work as everyone was staring at me.
"Hey you know why everyone has their eyes on me?" I asked.
"Um, did you know Kire was in town?" Keko asked.
"She came by here?"
"Yah yesterday to say hi to a lot of people."
"Hey dude heads up Kire is in town," Tommy said walking up to me in a hurry.
"Jotiro he knows," Keko said.
"You know how?" Tommy asked.
"She came to see me last night."
"What happened?" Tommy asked.
"I told her I didn't want to see her," I said in anger walking to my desk.
"Maybe you should take the day off," Keko said.
"What no, I'm fine," I said.
"Please just do as I say," Keko said.
"Now you're telling me what to do," I said in anger, getting up. I looked around the office in anger. "Is Komiko late today or did she call in?"
"Don't change the subject," Keko said.
"Oh, he doesn't know, does he," Tommy said.
"Know what?"
"Dude she quit after Kire showed up yesterday," Tommy said. She quit, but why.
"Fine I'm taking the day off," I said walking out. I walked down the street to Komiko's favorite place to eat because it's the only thing I really knew about her. She wasn't inside so I decided to walk home. As I turned a corner, I saw a bunch of street dancers performing. As I walked by a voice called out to me.
"Yo Yamasura," the voice called. As I turned, Komiko ran up in street clothes. "What's going on?" she asked.
"I've been looking for you."
"What, why?"
"Why did you quit?"
"Cause I got sick of not doing what I love," she said while doing a handstand. I didn't know she could do that.
"I heard Kire came by the office."
"Yah she's a bitch, all she cares about is herself."
"Wow, you must hate her."
"She asked everyone how you would react to her being back and everyone said nice things, I called her out and said you would yell at her, was I right?"
"You were on the mark."
"Seeing her just believe everything can just go back to how it was after what happened made me realize I need to move out of this spot in my life I was in," she said, jumping to her feet. I never heard Komiko talk with such passion in her voice. "What are you doing out here, shouldn't you be at work?"
"Well Keko said I should take the day off, and I thought I would look for you cause I wanted to know why you left."
"Now that you know, what do you want to do?" I pulled money from my wallet and put it in her hat. I decided to walk home. When I got home Remi was playing video games.
"There she is," I said, sloping over her.
"Why aren't you at work?"
"Keko said to take the day off, I mean I would normally say no but I have you to come home to." She put the controller down and stared at the TV screen. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing, I'm fine now that you're here." I kissed her on the cheek and fell back on the ground tired. We spent the day doing nothing just laying down and relaxing.
"You like me, right?" she asked.
"Of course, why do you ask?"
"No reason." As we laid there, I felt a cold spot over my whole body. As I sat up a ghost walked out of my body. There was this pale man in a suit walking around my apartment. It looked like he was getting ready for work. Kinda reminded me of, well me.
"Hey who moved my toothbrush?" he asked. I just gave him a weird look. "Oh, it's all fun and games tell someone uses your toothbrush, germs are nasty as hell." He stood in the window and looked back at me. "Well, have fun with your life because mine is over," he said, jumping out the window. I rushed up to the window to look out and see nothing there.
"What's up with you?" Remi asked.
"I thought I heard someone yelling my name," I said, crawling back to bed. We laid in bed cuddling until I fell asleep. When I woke up, she was gone. There was just a note on top of a book. I read the note.
"Yamasura I love the person you are, but it seems we are just using each other to fill the void in our hearts. I want you to have fun wherever you go. I will always be thinking of you wherever I go, Love Remi." The book underneath read -Milo the Detective Dog and the Case of the Draft-. She finished the book. I wasn't sad about her leaving, because everything she said was right. I've been thinking hard about what I would do if my life hit another hard point again.
I stood in front of a hotel waiting to work up the nerve to walk in. I walked in to see Kire sitting on the bed.
"I'm glad you called," she said.
"Me too."
"So, does this mean you'll forgive me?"
"No, but I don't hate you, I want you to be happy even if it's not with me."
"But I think we can make it work."
"No, I can't make it work."
"So, what am I going to do?"
"Do whatever you want to do," I said, hugging her.
"Why are you here?"
"Cause I want to say goodbye before I leave," I said getting up.
"Leave, where are you going?" she asked as I grabbed the door.
I sat on a plane relaxed with a book in front of me.
"The plane to America will be leaving shortly," a voice called out. I opened to the first page of the book and read it.
"To my best friend ever, Tuminaro Yamasura, may I be with you wherever you go." And it that moment I felt alive.
