Chapter 1

"Young man, would you kindly hand that one over to us?"

"Y -Yes."

Wei Xiaodan ran to the side, carrying two blocks of bricks, which were about the size of his palms, and ran towards the old man who had asked him to hand the bricks over.

"Here," Wei Xiaodan threw over the bricks in his hand over the old man, his eyes motionless like a tyrant king.

Wei Xiaodan then proceed to turned his back away from the old man. Afterwards, he continued to perform the task requested to him.

The old man watched him vanish from afar and muttered something to himself, "That young man was truly unfortunate."

His voice sounded like he pitied Wei Xiaodan, and at the same time, quite envious of him.

Wei Xiaodan has only been working in the construction site for a few weeks, and yet, his pay was already higher than they were paid. That's why even though he pitied the young man, he also couldn't help himself but to be cruel to the young man itself.

"Well, he really is unfortunate. After the dungeons and the births of monsters, gods occurred. His family was struck by the phenomenon and died on the spot. What's more, all his family members died in front of him. If I were him, I would have killed myself by now. I mean, just how painful the burden cursing him over and over again, on those young shoulders of his," However, the middle-aged man beside the old man truly pitied Wei Xiaodan. Unlike the old man, he wasn't affected by jealousy.

The old man seemed to recover his sanity, and gently nodded his head in agreement. If it were also him, he might had comitted suicide by now. Just how despairing would that be, losing your loved ones in front of you.

"What's more, at such a young age…"

Truly, the world really is full of unfairness.

Wei Xiaodan listened from afar, and clicked his tongue. Here and there, everyone was pitying him. Although he hated experiencing that kind of feeling, he couldn't shake it off even if he complains inside his head.

Whenever he recalled that time when his whole family was murdered in front of him, his emotions became cloudy and his fists would clench itself tightly, bloodying his hands

"Those dispicables gods, immortals, and other worldly creatures….."

If only they didn’t show up…. My family would be still breathing in this calm soothing air right now… Wei Xiaodan's eyes became lifeless as sorrows filled his head like water pouring down into a cup.

Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.

"Why…. Why of all places….. Did it have to be my family?"

Wei Xiaodan wouldn't actually care if the person who lost his whole family was another person. But, why did it have to be his family out of the billions of humans living in this world.

“Sure, I wasn’t the only person that suffered that day… A lot of other people have suffered as well, but why did it have to be me…”

Wei Xiaodan wanted an answer to his question oh so badly, but no one could even give him one.

It's just a single question, and yet he couldn't even get an answer.

Just a single question.

Wei Xiaodan wiped away the clouds forming in the corner of his eyes. Now wasn't the time to be emo and all sad. He has to grind to make a living.

Reality was truly cruel. He lost all his family members and all, but yet, the world was still going against him as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.

After the apocalypse shook the entire world. Humans evolved into a totally different dimensions. Cultivation arts were once again brought to life, and martial arts excluding the techniques created by ancient humans were all worshiped. Of course, only those who’ve inherited the cultivation arts passed down through their families and the rich ones were able to cultivate those cultivation arts. Those affected by poverty were stuck at the bottom of the cycle, rotting away like rats all over the world.

It’s already been 10 years since the apocalypse occured, but it seemed like the humanity has already evolved into a level one would never imagined.

The skies which were filled with crows and sparrows in the past, are now filled with flying humans who’ve whom blessed with abilities called ability users. They're the new type of humans the humanity has evolved to.

Actually, Wei Xiaodan was considered quite lucky himself. One of his blood related uncles came to get him 10 years ago and adopted him. Even though his uncle forced him to work to earn money, at the very least, he gets to eat three times a day. All he had to do was follow his uncle’s wish, and he’ll be fed for all his hard work.

After a long day of work, the skies turned dark and the whole sky was suddenly illuminated by bright lights. Wei Xiaodan wasn’t surprised of this anymore. Almost everyday, this kind of thing always occurred to his surroundings. A yellow dark gate appeared in the sky, and monsters akin to beast wolves stood on their feets walked out from the yellow gate and dived down from the sky.

A wind brushed past by Wei Xiaodan’s hair, and a beautiful dark knight wearing a dark, frightening dragon-like armor passed by him in a blink of an eye. The dark knight wearing a dragon-like armor appeared into the ground where the wolves are preparing to land, and soon, a white giant sword flew out from the sky before appearing into her tiny adorable hands.

Despite its white brilliance, the aura swirling around the sword was somewhat dark and frightening. It was as if a devil had possessed the sword.

The dark knight swung her sword to the sky without waiting for the wolves to land. Her sword created an articles of dark sword beams that were seemingly able to tear down the clouds in half. It was as fast as a lightning, Wei Xiaodan couldn't even keep up with it with his eyes staring deeply at it. Soon the horde of wolves flying out from the sky suddenly exploded into green fountains of waves. The numbers of wolves diving down from the sky decreased into one/third. Green bloods spewed out everywhere. It was as if he was watching the whole world turn into a green world, the bloods of the wolves spewed out from the sky, as their corpses and pieces of their corpses fell off from the sky, resembling leaves falling off from a tree.

Wei Xiaodan almost wondered if he was watching the world end. It was so frightening and it gave him goosebumps realizing how fragile he was.

"Evacuate immediately,” The dark knight stared deeply into the crowds of wolves still breathing up from the sky. Their numbers had only reduced by 20% despite such a huge scale attack and so she decided to evacuate the workers in the construction site to secure their safety.

Cold sweats started forming under her forehead, as she nervously swallowed down her dried saliva with a stiff face.
