Chapter 2: Overworking Hours

At work, I say hello to my colleagues.

"Hello, good morning, everyone!"

"Good morning too, Riana!"

They answered my greeting. I just smiled and nodded cheerfully.

After that, I continued to work in front of the computer.

I focused on doing the work given by the boss a day before while my mind wandered, thinking about various things.

I have a good relationship with my colleagues and my boss, except for one person. I don't know why, but it seems she doesn't like me, even though I've done my best. Anything related to work—there's just something wrong in her eyes. That was an assistant named Viera. She is the boss's senior assistant and often finds every tiny piece of fault in me.

The saying is true: life is not meant to satisfy everyone; some like it and some don't. Even though we have done all kinds of things and done our best, it is still wrong in front of their eyes.

So the solution is: I just let her. In other words, I ignored her.

Yes, if she doesn't like me, why do I have to keep trying to make her like me?

It was just a waste of time. Truthfully, I better just do my job.

I shook my head and patted my cheek.

Wake up, Riana! Do your work!

I continue to work in front of the computer.

* Tick, tick, tick *

Time passes quickly. Aware of not realizing that it's almost time to go home.

I stretched my body. After that, I got up and packed things.

At that time, I just told Viera via chat that I had completed my work. Because Viera is the intermediary for the boss, any business should usually be connected with her. My boss, Michael, seems to have given his trust to Viera to hold such an important role in the company.

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.

After a few minutes, I turned off my computer. Suddenly, Viera came to me with the boss.

"Riana! Where's your work? You should send it before you go home."

Huh? I just stared at them with my mouth open. Didn't I send it to Viera? Don't tell me that...

I looked at Viera; she just smiled cynically at me.

Damn it, you!

I swear in my heart.

Viera opened her mouth. "That's right, Riana, you didn't send me the work that your boss told you to do. So you can't go back right now." She spoke up while making a sad face.

Hey, girl! Come on! I have already sent it!

"Boss, I have sent it and told the boss's assistant, Viera. Miss Viera, can you check the chat again?"

Viera looked at me with her head tilted. "Eh? Where is it? It was none. Empty."

I felt like going crazy when I heard the answer from Viera's lips.

This woman....

"Riana! You have to make it back and send it to me today. Don't expect to be able to come back home until it's finished." My boss, Michael, warned me with a sharp look.

I felt a little scared because of his look. "A-Alright boss..."

It seems like I have to do it again.

Wait a minute. If I check the file folder, the work I did earlier is still there, right?

When I sat back in the chair after the boss and Viera left with her sarcastic smile, I opened my computer again. However, my computer could not be turned on before the screen suddenly turned blue and flickered.

Ahh...what's up?

Don't tell me that...

Unlucky! That Viera! She put a virus on my computer desktop...She is very cunning!

Aargh! I didn't make a backup of my work file data on the pendrive!

I feel stressed.

It looks like I have to ask my colleague... I told my colleague about my problems. Thankfully, I get to use my colleague's computer. And fortunately, she understands my problem and lends it to me.

"Bye Riana! Fighting! Good luck doing your work!"

My colleagues cheered me on and went home. I just smiled blankly and nodded to them as I watched them walk away.

Ha ha...

I don't want to have to work overtime today...

I continued to do my work again in front of the computer.

* Tick, tock, tick *

It was 9 p.m., and I managed to finish my work until I felt like I was dying.

Fortunately, my office is bright, and there are some workers who work overtime like me there. So I'm not really afraid.

I made a copy of the file on the computer. So that I will not make the same mistake. I have already learned the lesson about today.

This time, I will continue to send it directly to the boss. If I send it to that woman, I have to do my work again. After telling the boss in the chat, I put my things on the table.

My boss and colleagues have been home for a long time this evening. The only ones left are the workers in the company from different departments who work overtime. I said goodbye and waved to them. Not forgetting, I gave them words of encouragement.

"Fighting! You can do it! Goodluck! "

Their reaction was like mine before. They just smiled blankly and nodded before continuing their work.

I didn't want to disturb their work, so I just grabbed my bag and walked away to go back home.
