Father: 私たちは今、男の子がいます!

The language of this world is Japenese. I wish had taken those Japenese classes!

Mother & Father: 私たちはついに家族です!

Well, I guess this is my new life

----------

I am now 8 years old. I’ve learned a lot about this world in this time. I was born in the slums on the 3rd day of Weng, the fifth and final month of the year, in the year 567.

This world has 5 months with 80 days in each month, making each year last 400 days. There are 8 weeks in each month and each week has 10 days, Mund, Tu, We, Thus, Fi, Sa, Suun, Bo, Ba and, Bic.

I live in the capital city of Xuslath, Ertegan. With a population of 500,000 people, it is one of the largest cities in this world. The city was divided into 5 districts, slums, workers, traders, business and the nobles district which is restricted so that only nobles can enter.

In this world, my new name is Alex. We barely have enough money to by and my parents were malnourished, giving up their food so I could survive. Learning Japenese took some extra time as I was already used to English but, I picked it up fairly quickly. As soon as I could walk and run around at age 4, I started to go beg on the streets in the richer districts since there was nothing else I could do to earn money for my family. Once I turned 6, I learned about what my parent did, they were thieves!

This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

My parents spent most of their time pickpocketing people in the crowded markets and stealing from stalls when they turned around. I also joined my parents in pickpocketing around the same time as no one would suspect a kid, right?

Most of the time, we only went for small things that people wouldn’t notice but, today was a different day. A fairly rich trader by the name of James Duncan was in town for the next few days in the buisness district. A man with a cart full of expensive good and gold? We couldn’t resist. That was one year ago. One year before I became a slave.

Our plan was to buy me moderately nice looking clothes and to have me sneak into the nobles district with these clothes as poor people weren’t allowed in there. Once I was inside, I would sneak up to James’ wagon and steal whatever I could carry and run back with it hidden under my clothes and in a small bag.

We spent most of the next day and a lot of the night pickpocketing to get the nicest clothes possible. I then went to a store in the traders district with most of our savings and the pickpocketing money to go buy something that wasn’t too expensive but, made me look like I wasn’t from the slums.

“Hello there boy, what can I do for you?”

The man said it with a friendly tone but, he had a look in his eyes that said he was wary of me being in his store.

“Hi, I would like to buy some clothes.”

“Well then come over to this section.”

The man guided me over to the children’s clothing section without taking his eyes off me.

“Now, what would you like?”

I picked out [1] a black tunic and brown pants and some leather shoes.

“Are you sure you can afford that boy?”

He had moved between me and the door now.

“Yes, sir. Will this be enough?”

I counted out 30 copper coins, a lot of money for me.

In this world, there are three types of coins, which you probably know about already but, the author still forced me to explain it.

1 copper coin can buy you something small form a street stall like an apple or something small and common. 1 silver is worth a meal and is equal to 10 copper coins. 1 gold coin is mainly used in large transactions and is worth 10 silver coins. No one from the slums would ever see a gold coin in their lives and few working class would see one if they were working with money.

“Where did you get this money boy?”

“...”

He looked at me suspiciously but, didn’t question it, after all, money is money to a man like him.

Now, time to go change and prepare for the robbery.
