"WAAAH" - cried the baby boy.
His ear tearing cries flowed through town alerting the guards of his presence. Dumbfounded they could only look at each other and back at the baby, not understanding how someone would forget it. One guard especially was stuck in a trance, aside from the fact that there was a baby on someone’s porch, this house in particular was none others than his.
The middle-aged man looked at the house number, the welcome mat, he even saw his wife peeking out the window and was still skeptical as to whether that was or was not his house. His rough face showed confusion and wariness.
Why is there a baby on my porch… why does it have to be my porch, is it even a real baby?
“Stay in position while I investigate.” – he said as he finally accepted it. Making his way towards the child all sorts of ideas ran through his head as to how this could have come about. The guards stayed in place and watched him leave to investigate the child.
I’ve got to be dreaming. – He thought as he got closer. As he got closer he became more cautious, he had heard from his father about creatures that could take forms to confuse people. They had only been legends but he couldn’t help but remember his father’s words with the situation in front of him. He couldn’t imagine someone just leaving a baby on his porch to joke with him, especially since in this part of town he couldn’t recall anyone having a baby in the past few weeks.
“WAAAAAAHHH!” – screamed the child, his screams pierced through walls and echoed through the forest. As he continued his cries grew louder and longer.
A woman was staring at the child through a window, she was staring at the child and wondering what it was doing on her porch. At first she thought her husband had been playing a bad joke on her but she knew her husband well and the way he was approaching was definitely telling her even he didn’t know a thing. She slowly grew worried and when she saw her husband signal for her to leave she knew it wasn’t a joke and ran to her room and locked herself inside.

Her husband wouldn’t be cautious around a baby for no reason, she didn’t understand why but she had to trust him.
He looks exactly like a baby, his cries are insanely loud though. A baby shouldn’t be able to cry this loud, what if it really is a baby tho…NO... that’s what it wants me to think. I won’t fall for it…
He was only a few meters away and he had signaled for his wife to get away in case anything happened. Dozens of pairs of eyes were stabbing into him, even his men guarding the wall were staring in his direction completely forgetting to survey the forest.
With dozens of pairs of eyes on him, he slowly and cautiously approached the crying baby. With his right hand he slowly unsheathed his long sword producing a slow and long screeching sound.
In the surrounding forest at the top of a large tree, an extremely dark beast was watching the scenes unfold, the tree was thick and tall allowing it to see everything in this side of town with ease. Its dark red eyes not once blinked as they watched the man unsheathe his sword and walk towards his young master. Its posture changed in a way in which it would quickly make a move should his master be in immediate danger. Although it was a few hundred meters away, it would definitely reach him in time if it sensed danger.
The guards had no idea there was a beast lurking in the forest that would make quick work of them should anything happen to the baby. With its dark fur it became one with the darkness of the forest. Up in the sky circling above them was another winged creature. It was the phoenix, except it was the size of an eagle with the head of a hawk.
It had also been on high alert watching since the beginning everything that was playing out down on the ground. Although it was a few hundred meters in the sky its eyes were like magnifying glasses, it could easily count the hairs on its masters head. If it sensed immediate danger towards its master it would immediately arrive to save him.

As the sound of the unsheathed sword reached the baby’s ears it suddenly stopped crying.
