Chapter 18: Imprisoned

Chapter 18: Imprisoned

Leon POV

While I was mining, I got approached by a guard regarding some visitations once again, so I had to end my job early that day to go see Lux, at least the guard let me shower first and gave me time before I went and saw her in a room with her arms crossed as I took the seat across from her.

"Nothing to say?" she asked with an eyebrow raised.

"Nope, at this point, I'd rather just have you get it over with."

"Huh...seems like you've matured in prison, who knew."

"Nope, I'm still the same."

"Well, I'm here to tell you one more thing since you clearly at least deserve to know...We're twins."

"I figured that out...well, Hermes told me, but same thing."

"You've met Hermes?"

"Yep...that's it?"

"Well, that narrows it down to our mother being a goddess."

"I thought that too a while back, but we could also apparently share a godly father instead of a mother."

"No, it's impossible." Lux said, "If our father is the god, you would not be a demigod, it would either be we're both demigods or we're both gods. But one of us is the god while the other is a demigod, it's rare for that to happen, but it can only happen if our mother is the god."

"So I was being dumb, but my dumbness was right? Maybe it was just instinct or something."

"...Sure."

"So what are the chances that our father is also a god?"

"High, but finding out who our mother is would be easier, gods sleep around quite a lot, so whatever goddess she slept with...we're going to have him narrow it down."

"We...? There is no we. I'm not too fond of your guts. I shouldn't be here."

"You were the selfish one."

"Selfish for not wanting to abandon my family?"

"I'm your sister."

"You're not my family."

"Hurts more than I thought."

"It should, I have one sibling, and that's my brother, you...you're just some lady who I happen to be related to."

Aphrodite POV

"Well, Lux and Leon are starting tonight again...it's about time they work together. Our plans hinge on it. But they both want different things, Lux wants to know who you are and Leon could not care less...not that it's not understandable, you did basically abandon him."

My friend just then sighed as started to tap her finger out of nervousness. Our plans were started by her, and all of this was started by her, it's risky for all parties involved, currently, the others are away, so I have to take care of this. The moment we're caught, we're basically as good as dead.

"It's true. They need to collaborate if we're going to pull this off. But you know as well as I do, Lux will be the more difficult one to convince." she said.

"Maybe, but both are stubborn since you're their mother. But she's motivated. She knows she needs him, even if she hates to admit it. That stubbornness is going to be our biggest obstacle, especially if we want to move to the next phase."

"You're playing with fire, Aphrodite. Their relationship is volatile at best. One wrong move and the whole plan could collapse."

"Volatility is just another word for passion, besides, when have I ever been wrong about matters of the heart?"

"That's exactly what worries me. We can't afford any mistakes, not now. If anything can lead back to me, it'll be too dangerous for all of us."

"Then let's move to the next step. Lux and Leon need to start working together. It's the only way. We both know that."

"...Fine," She relented after a moment of hesitation, "But you'll need to handle the first part. I can't risk leaving any trace that could connect back to me."

"Oh, don't worry," I said with a wink to which she rolled her eyes, "I've got just the plan to get them on the same page. You just focus on the rest."

She then gave me a long, hard look, the kind that said she wasn't entirely sure if she should trust me—but she didn't have much of a choice.

"You're playing a dangerous game, Aphrodite." she commented with a sigh, "I already know what it is."

"Darling, danger is where I thrive."

Lux POV

I was busy with my work, keeping everything in order as usual. It was a routine day, nothing I hadn't done a thousand times before. Monitoring, assessing, and dealing with the summoned heroes that flowed through my domain. It was tedious but necessary, and I did it well. Or at least I did it well, I haven't been awarded like my peers yet.

Then, without warning, everything around me shifted. The familiar walls of my office blurred and faded away, replaced by a dark and cold chamber. I knew instantly where I was, the underworld in front of the 3 judges.

"Lux," Aeacus announced, "You stand accused of numerous crimes against the natural order. Abusing your godly powers, manipulating heroes against their will, and overstepping your bounds."

"Huh? I've done nothing but my job."

"Your actions have disrupted the flow of the underworld. You have interfered where you should not, used your powers for personal gain, and upset the order of our regulations." Minos ignored my defenses before showing me the recordings of what I've supposedly done, including my sentencing of Leon, which was clearly my job.

"This is absurd!" I retorted, my voice rising. "I was tasked with the proper authority to do that, you helped co-sign my papers and approved that I was right!"

"Your powers will be stripped away. Hades will see to it." Rhadamanthus said coldly as he looked at me.

Panic surged through me.

"You can't do this! You know I was just doing my job! What's going on?!"

But it was too late. I felt it almost instantly, the strength that had always been a part of me, the divine power that I wielded all my life was slipping away. It was as if a heavy weight had been placed on my shoulders, pressing down, crushing me. I was getting weaker by the second, my godhood draining out of me. Everything else passed in a blur and it felt like a dream. However, that dream was ended by a familiar voice.

"Well..." the voice said, "Nice seeing you there, sis. Karma treated you well."

I looked up, and there he was. Leon, standing in front of my cell with a smirk plastered across his face.
