I wake up to the leader gently poking me with her staff wearing the same lovely face as yesterday. She definitely was not swinging the staff overhead to poke me, nor did she continue to poke me after the fact that I woke up. I follow her down to the ground for what seems to be morning military training.Aas my legs are already in pain from yesterday I think I should opt out but I dismiss that thought as soon as I look in the direction of our leader and she looks back at me. After 30 minutes of intensive full body exercise we head on to have breakfast which impressed me yet again with its variety of roots and berries.

We set out for the morning patrol after a quick breakfast. Our pace, like yesterday, is somewhere between a jog and fast walking, this demonstrates the groups experience and fitness level by their ability to keep this pace in this dense temperate forest and clearly demonstrates my lack thereof. When we stop for our lunch break I realise that I have packed no food, I sigh and sit down. My absence of food is noticed in a minute or so, the leader does not change her hostile look at all, maybe a few percent more intense now than it was before and with an addition of scorn. One spearmen ignores me, the female archer takes pity on me and offers me some of her food, I decide to accept, the other spearman who seems to be the female archers friend tries to stop her, she dismisses his action and gives me a handful of berries whilst the spearman looks on with slight envy, all of this is ignored by the other spearman. Whilst our leader found a new person (female archer) to show her lovely face to. The female archer reciprocates by showing her tongue to the leader, the leader huffs in response and turns around. The female archer smiles as a result. So it seems the female archer and the leader (Aelynthi) are good friends and maybe so is the second spearman.

Ten minutes pass, we pack up and continue our patrol or scouting or whatever is our job. I have no idea which way the village is in, need to make a compass in the near future… Hopefully this planet has a magnetic field otherwise I will have to figure out from scratch how to use this worlds sun for navigation. We continue our patrol for a few hours until our group slows down, they start to whisper between themselves... I am deemed to not be important enough to be informed of the situation, but I am gestured to put my back towards them as they do the same. I pick this moment to activate all my rank 0 magic that enhances the body, within one second I am, what I call, fully buffed. My body magic, mostly concentrated on my bodies nerves and brain neurons, increases my strength, speed and reaction rate. Next I start the prepping system on two of my grenades, after that I pull up my balaclava and goggles. I turn on infrared vision within the goggles and take a look in front of me. There I see 3 points of what are most likely to be wolves, as the distance to the targets is about 100 meters I decide to take a look around me and I spot an additional 2 or 4 wolves on either side. So, 6-12 visible wolves and possible 4 or more directly behind me, surrounded on all sides, unknown combat abilities of enemy wolves and unknown combat abilities of my teammates. The most logical conclusion I can make is to act with full force at the fastest speed available. I switch the safety off on my pistol, take a standing firing position and take aim center mass at the left side.

The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

Before I start, I address Aelynthi: "Are they enemies?" I get no response within 5 seconds so...

I take a deep breath and start to exhale, as I complete my exhale I pull the trigger.

*Bang* One, *Bang* two, *Bang* three, *Bang* four, *Bang* five, *Bang* six, *Bang* seven, *Bang* eight, *Bang* nine, *Bang* ten, *Bang* eleven, *Bang* twelve shots.

I used one shot for one target, to maximise damage to them all as I am limited by my weapons 12 round shot capacity. I drop my pistol and it hangs on my shoulder, next I pull out my combat knife and reassess the situation.

I see no movement from 9 out of 12 wolves I shot at, it seems I have expert marksman aim thanks to my rank 0 body magic. Another 2 wolves are crying on the ground, 1 wolf is limping away and behind us an additional 4 wolves can be seen running away. Then I notice something while I am in my sloppy combat stance with my combat knife drawn and the noise from the pumps on my gun. Four stunned faces looking at me, at this moment my grenades decide to beep and tell me that they are ready for use. I slowly put away my knife, reholster my pistol, remove my goggles and lower my balaclava. Now I look down at my grenades and feel more fear than when I was about to fire on the wolves. I slowly remove the grenades, step behind a tree put the grenades on the ground and start their venting process. I return to still see 4 pairs of widened eyes. Now I only hope that the grenades do not choose this moment to explode, they should not but my paranoia says otherwise. 2 minutes pass, I know the venting has started and finished by now, so I return to the grenades, put them back on my vest. I take note to manually refill the mana storage and water container later. I walk back to the group, they have calmed down, surprised with a hint of confusion would best describe their current behavior. Should I say something? Good job team? Were those wolves hostile? For all I know I just killed their neighbours or pet animals, of course that is extremely unlikely but hey it is bad to assume things in a new world. Even if I do say something the only person who can understand dislikes me, furthermore I have no idea if she will be able to understand me beyond a few simple words.

After another minute of silence, each of their expressions differs now. The silent spearman has a face of approval, the female archer has a face that almost screams ‘my hero’, the friend of the female archer is eyeing my weapon and last but not least the leader has a face of resignation. I decide to let them sort out their thoughts and go take a look at the corpses before we resume our patrol. From the bullet wounds found on the wolves I see 3 different types of bullet damage: full penetration and escape from the other side; penetration and shattering internally possibly against bones with possible fragment escape; shattering on the skin and making mince mint on the surface and inside of the target. In any case I would prefer receiving a bullet from a modern 9mm pistol rather than my self made 10mm pistol.
