I Found An Autobiography, From My Future Self!?
Chapter 2: Treading Unknown Territory

Chapter 2: Treading Unknown Territory

Bruno couldn't tell how long he'd been unconscious for but his whole body stung like he fought a swarm of angry wasps. He could feel multiple bruises on his body ache as well as his sore mouth having lost multiple teeth. His jaw felt fine but his nose was broken, giving his voice a little nasal tone. Bruno some reflecting on what happened, "How can a man be so strong? Was that strange blue force Aura? And what was with those moves...I never stood a chance in hell did I? I can only pray I impress--" Bruno's thoughts were cut short when he heard struggling...he couldn't tell who it was but the words Godfrey had spoken ran through his mind, 'I might as well get my pick of a whore tonight. I think I'll choose the loud one.' After remembering Godfrey's crude remark Bruno started to desperately rage in his unconscious state. His body started to twitch and turn as he desperately tried to wake up. Bruno forcefully took control of his body until he sat right up like a dead man from the grave. Looks wise, Bruno was actually not doing bad. His body was still bruised to hell and back but most of the swelling had died down. He had bandages around his forehead and his right arm was wrapped in a sling. It seemed it wasn't just his hand that broke but his arm as well. As Bruno tried to look around, his vision blurred and his head ached. He seemed to be in a room but he wasn't sure. He soon pushed himself upwards and off the bed before looking around. He was able to make out a door as he weakly walked towards it. As he walked to the door, he was quite the sight. He was only dressed in breeches, leaving his monstrous upper body exposed as well as the terrible bruising. Getting to the door, Bruno reached for the handle, his body shaking, begging him to rest, but he couldn't. Even if he immediately collapsed when confronting Godfrey, he would not let the man have his way with Auda or harm any of the villagers. To Bruno, the village was his everything. The good memories, the bad. Where he learned to read, where he was a troublemaker, where he was a self-proclaimed hero. Bruno would not let anything happen to the villagers.

As Bruno left the room he felt it was getting easier to walk as he started to get more enraged, his imagination acting as exceptional fuel. Once out, he found himself in a hallway. To his right he saw many doors with different colors on them, the different colors signifying which room a patron needed to go to, if your room's yellow, go to the yellow room. Bruno was in the tavern, which meant everything was probably fine. In his state however, Bruno was not normal. He was like a wounded animal; his rationality shattered. To him, at this very moment: Everything he's ever known or loved was in danger. To his left, he saw what looked like two soldiers guarding the stairs leading to the main floor. As Bruno walked towards them he felt his body get hotter and hotter until it reached a limiting point, his body feeling feverishly hot. Bruno tried to speak but his throat was so dry he had to force the words out. His mouth felt sore and swollen from the missing teeth. His dry, crackly voice rang out, "Get...out of my way." Bruno couldn't see the soldiers' faces but they're bodies seemed to be shaking. One soldier timidly drew his sword as the other one tried to calm Bruno down, "Woah there! Your body is not ready to be moving around. I assure you everything is fine so go ba–" Bruno could no longer hear the soldier as his mind blanked when he heard struggling from downstairs...Auda was struggling, making hard grunting noises followed by cheers. Bruno's face twisted to an expression of pure fury as he charged forward like a raging ox. He had only one thought going through his mind, Auda was in danger. The soldiers felt frozen, Bruno's unbridled rage making their blood go cold as goosebumps formed on their skin. The soldiers dove out of the way to opposite sides of the hallway and felt relief as Bruno ran straight down the middle towards the first floor. One of the soldiers gave a prayer of thanks to the gods and the other, dropped his sword and grabbed a flask of booze from his side before taking a large swig. As Bruno ran down the stairs he felt his right arm twitch, so great was his rage that his right arm could move, although barely.

As Bruno ran down he came upon a scene of Auda and Godfrey arm wrestling. Godfrey seemed to be giving her tips on overpowering stronger people by isolating individual body parts. They had amassed quite the crowd, most of the tavern regulars were there, along with some of Godfrey's soldiers, but to the blurry eyed, enraged Bruno? He saw Auda struggling while making grunting noises and in that moment he started to hallucinate as a thin black mist left his mouth, covering his eyes. In his eyes Auda was making pained expressions as she was surrounded by Godfrey's faceless soldiers, all making excited sounds, as though anticipating their turn at the young woman with their cocks in hand. The grunting sounds from Auda were warped, transforming into pleasurable moans as she shook violently with Godfrey smiling in front of her, her hand...touching something long. It was a scene from one of Bruno's darkest nightmares made manifest. Bruno's rage smashed through its limits, blood vessels erupted in his eyes and his mouth made a harsh teeth-grinding sound as the muscles in his body started to tense to their extremes, his right arm ripping out of its sling, small tatters of cloth falling to the ground. Bruno started to exhale more of the thin black mist from his mouth as it lingered around him, refusing to dissipate. Through the thin black mist, Bruno's eyes seemed to gloss over as a primal fury nestled itself inside. At this point he could no longer be reasoned with as he shouted in rage, "GET AWAY FROM HER!!!" Spit and foam flew from his mouth. He would defend Auda from these faceless figures with every fiber of his strength. Godfrey quickly sensed the danger, getting up and dashing forward to meet Bruno head on. Godfrey's Aura started to radiate from his skin as a semi transparent blue started to encompass his upper body. As the two clashed, Bruno began to swing both his arms wildly, his wild strikes giving Godfrey many openings that he capitalized on. However, even the Aura enhanced Godfrey did little to Bruno. The thin black mist that Bruno breathed out empowered Bruno and the injuries on his body disappeared as quickly as they appeared. Bruno's berserk state seemed to amplify his physical abilities on top of the black mist as he started to swing faster, with more force. Bruno seemed to feel no pain even when hit in the throat, groin, or liver. Godfrey thought about dodging but that would endanger the people around them, including some of Godfrey's soldiers. Godfrey only ducked and rolled hits off his shoulders, not moving far from his spot.

Godfrey's soldiers unsheathed their weapon's and intended to participate in the fight before Godfrey shouted, "STAY AWAY!" The soldiers looked hesitant but sheathed their weapons.

Eventually Bruno started to slow down from perceived fatigue, Godfrey saw his opportunity and went in to deal a finishing blow. Bruno, like a clever predator, then sped his left hand to Godfrey's face, Bruno's hand encompassing Godfrey's head with ridiculous grip strength. Bruno then pushed down, forcing Godfrey to his knees before pulling back his right arm and delivering a rock-shattering punch to Godfrey's face. Godfrey was launched back straight, sending him through the table, shattering it, before he slammed into the wall. Thankfully, the spectators had moved behind the bar while the two were fighting. Because of his Aura, Godfrey didn't suffer any damage but his Aura was cracked leaving a large gap in front of Godfrey's face. Godfrey's eyes were wide in surprise as Bruno attempted to charge forward. Godfrey didn't break any bones due to his Aura but his neck twisted at an odd angle from the force of Bruno's punch causing his body to feel numb from shock. As Bruno ran forward, Godfrey seemed to be unable to defend himself for a second as he laid against the wall, stunned. But as Bruno was running he seemed to reach his limits and collapsed to the floor with a mighty thump, onto his stomach. Blood started to ooze from Bruno's orifices as his body slowly started to die from the backlash of that strange black mist. The black mist dissipated into the air, leaving no trace that it was ever there.

As Bruno laid half dead he slowly got back to his senses and could hear Godfrey bark out orders, "ATTENTION! Get this man into medical care now! You two check to see if anyone died on the second floor. And you two..." Bruno slipped unconscious as he listened to Godfrey's orders. Once more Bruno found himself adrift in his subconscious.

As Bruno drifted in his mind he could hear the things around him, mainly the villagers. He didn't know how long he was unconscious for but he didn't mind, he didn't want to see anyone after what he did. It was clear to Bruno that he had passed the trial and yet he still attacked Godfrey. Bruno felt stupid as he laid unconscious, the thought that he endangered the villagers left Bruno solemn. Many people saw him and spoke to his unconscious body, some people he was close to like Auda and Rambert visited the most. Rambert would just talk about rumors and make crude jokes. Auda wouldn't say much, she would just hold Bruno's hand while gently talking about her day. The Elder came by a few times, unlike Rambert and Auda, he would rapidly insult Bruno while simultaneously begging him to wake up, switching between the two as though he was two-faced. Bruno's parents didn't visit however, it seemed they were still on their hunt.

Bruno stayed in this state of unconsciousness until he heard a soft wail. A sudden throbbing occurred in his head as he started to open his eyes. He was once again in the waking world. As he opened his eyes he saw Auda by his left side. She was holding his left hand and rubbing the top part of it with her thumbs soothingly with a worried look on her pretty face. She didn't notice that he was awake yet so he spoke up in a raspy voice, "Man, I really died huh? Must be in heaven. Do I get my own room?" He chuckled weakly at Auda's shocked, blushing face. Auda started to tear up while smiling as she stared at Bruno, who then weakly lifted his left hand towards her face as he wiped away her tears. After a touching reunion, Godfrey walked into the tent. Bruno weakly looked at Godfrey before drowsily speaking, "Impressed yet? If not, I've gotten nothing left in me."

Godfrey smiled, not because of the joke, but because Bruno still had the will to joke. Godfrey looked at Bruno, the visage on his face; impressed, "I see you've still got some fight left in you. Good. I would have been disappointed if you lost your fire and became craven. Now, the verdict of the trial." Godfrey's face went rigid and cold as he waited a few seconds. Bruno believed he knew the results already but the tense atmosphere still left him anxious along with Auda, who grabbed Bruno's hand and squeezed. Godfrey then smiled warmly, changing the air he had set. Godfrey spoke in a noble, proud tone as he put forward his arm theatrically, "I, Lord Godfrey Blutschmied, declare that Bruno...has passed the trial by combat." A sigh of relief left Bruno and Auda's mouths. Godfrey continued, "Now Bruno, about your reward. I have prepared three options for you to choose from. The first is a conscription avoidance order. This will be done for you, and the members of your village." Bruno's eyes widened in shock. He felt relief as with this, Rambert wouldn't die in the war. "The second, is the Right Of Squire. Under normal circumstances I wouldn't be able to do this as you are a commoner and the paperwork is long and arduous, but as one of the few Sword Experts in the kingdom before impending war, I have been granted the unique privilege to appoint people who have impressed me. As a Squire, you would be required to follow me at all times and learn from me. It is a high honor." At this point Bruno's mind went blank. To become a squire would mean he would essentially be on the path to knighthood. He would be taught etiquette, martial skills, and eventually be granted the noble title of Knight. He would be granted the right to own land, have servants, and he would have a small impact on politics. Bruno turned his head to Auda who then let go of his hand and started tightly hugging Bruno happily. If Bruno wasn't so dazed he would have been in a great deal of pain from Auda's vice grip hug.

Godfrey cleared his throat as he spoke the last option, "The third is a recommendation to attend the Great Martial Academy." More than anything else this blindsided Bruno. The Great Martial Academy is a very closed off institution where only those on recommendation can attend. The only ones who can provide a recommendation are other Expert Swordsmen as well as rulers of the various kingdoms around the world, this was done in an effort to get the Academy in the good graces of large powers from all over the world. There they are taught skills and techniques for warriors as well as survival skills. As a young man, Bruno had dreamed of attending before, he would hang around the tavern with Rambert, asking travelers and merchants alike anything about the Academy. From what Bruno remembers, a good 60% of students who graduate, graduate as Rank 7 warriors. Expert Swordsman. Not just that though, the Academy has a famous turn out, 30% of their graduates learn to use Aura, a monstrous percentage. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity but...on top of having high quality graduates, most graduate in their 30's due to the strict graduation requirements, if they graduate at all. On top of the strict graduation requirements, the Academy also had a terrifying percentage...of student deaths. A good 35% of graduates die before their first year, leaving the academy to have a small, yet elite student population. It was an Academy for warriors, and death is an ever present threat on the martial path. Auda hugged Bruno tighter before letting go.

Bruno started to weigh his options before he looked at Auda, she seemed so happy for him. Her smile was so radiant to Bruno that for a second he couldn't feel the pain in his body but only the warmth from her smile. He recollected himself, It was time for Bruno to ask some questions, "For the last two options, is there any way for me and Auda to be together while I'm going through either of them, the Squireship or being a student.?" At his words Auda's face held a look of surprise. She liked Bruno, a lot, the two of them being young and in love; but she would never have thought one of Bruno's requirements would be to take her along. Despite Auda being young, 19, she had seen many men within the last 3 years, not romantically, just strangers coming and going. She had seen the worst of people and the best, yet she never thought someone would care enough about her that they would throw away their opportunities if it would split them apart, even someone who she's know for most her life like Bruno.

Godfrey didn't reply immediately, he simply closed his eye and thought to himself. After a few seconds his eye opened before he spoke, "As a Lord I can take servants. If you choose to be my squire I can take her in as a maid. She will have to be trained of course. Regarding the Academy however, there's nothing I can do. All are equals in the Academy so no servants, and an Expert Swordsman can only recommend one person in their lifetime."

As Bruno was lost in thought, Auda spoke up, a tinge of guilt on her mind, "Bruno...I think you should take the recommendation." Auda's statement stunned Bruno. His face was stricken with confusion as she continued, "You've always wanted to go...you always used to talk about attending the Academy one day and protecting the village. I...I don't want to be in the way of your dreams. So, you should go." Auda looked down with a look of sorrow, her expression hurt Bruno's heart.

As Bruno's heart hurt, he thought to himself, "If you want me to go...then why do you look so sad?"

Bruno searched his mind, what did he want to do? Of course he wanted to attend the academy but he felt like he'd regret it. As Bruno searched himself he remembered the words in the book from his supposed future self, 'To this day I am sour to the fact I was never able to tell her how I truly felt.' As he recalled the words something odd occurred, the book appeared in his mind. The book began radiating light, it was a strange occurrence so Bruno brought the book to the forefront of his mind, he then saw a vision. An old man sitting in a chair as his upper body laid upon a desk: The old man was dying. Blood pooled around his mouth as he whispered, "Too late for glory. Too late to love. Too late to live. Maybe this time our life will matter...I leave this to you...Bruno." The sudden mental intrusion caused him great pain as his face contorted. Godfrey and Auda looked concerned for Bruno as beads of sweat appeared on his face. Godfrey began to speak before Bruno stopped him by weakly raising his left hand.

Bruno's mind was made up. It didn't matter how much power he gained...if he was alone. Bruno looked at Auda as the words from his heart flowed, "I...I don't want to go to the Great Martial Academy. I want to be with you, Auda." Auda's face transformed into a look of both happiness and guilt. Bruno smirked, "Besides, being a squire to a Sword Expert is still good. I'm no longer the kid you knew, you mean more to me than some far off Academy across the sea in god knows where. One day, when I become a knight, I'll take you as my wife. We'll live on my estate surrounded by servants with enough gold to choke a king. Doesn't sound like a bad dream, aye Auda?."

With those final words, Auda's face reflected her inner heart, great happiness. To her there was only one answer now. As Auda tried to answer, no words would leave her throat under threat of crying. She soon uttered one word filled with her emotions. "Yes." She then grabbed Bruno's hand and placed it on her cheek as she started to tear up.

Godfrey looked passively at the scene, no emotions showed on his face. Godfrey cleared his throat before speaking, "I'm glad you accepted. From this point on you are my squire and you, Auda, a maid at my estate. Now, I've wasted too much time in this village. I have to move. As my squire you will come with me and as my maid, Auda, you will also come with me until I've completed my duty and head back to my estate. You have an hour to pack. I'll assign some soldiers to go to your house, Bruno, and grab your things." With that Godfrey attempted to wink with his only eye, his right eye, before leaving the tent.

Bruno and Auda were now alone again. Auda rubbed Bruno's hand that laid upon her cheek tenderly before speaking softly, "Why did you throw your opportunity away?"

Bruno spoke affectionately, "I can become a great warrior without the Academy. But If I went...I don't think I'd ever see you again. I'd rather take the harder road, if it meant you're by my side. You mean so much to me. We've known each other since we were kids, and when I was left alone when my parent's were out hunting...you would be there for me. So now, I want to be there for you." Bruno took his hand off Auda's cheek before gently grabbing her hand, rubbing it softly with his thumb.

Auda started to tear up as she spoke in a teary tone, "Why do you remember something like that?" Bruno didn't say anything, just smiled before bringing her hand to his mouth and giving it a kiss.

Auda didn't say anything after that, she just enjoyed the feeling of being close to Bruno. Auda looked deep into Bruno's eyes before giving they shared a tender kiss, things started to get hot and heavy before Auda teasingly separated herself from Bruno. Bruno gave her a look of childish disappointment as Auda left to pack. After she left, Bruno looked at the ceiling of the tent in disbelief. His thoughts were everywhere, "I can't believe I'm a squire now. I just can't believe it, commoner to pseudo noble and all it took was betting my life. Once I'm a noble I'll marry Auda, bring my parent's to my estate, and live out my life. But I feel like I'm forgetting something? Something Important." Bruno then shot up in panic, his body crying out in pain at the sudden moment. Bruno used all he had to barely stand. Bruno then made his way out of the tent with no support, he seemed to be in Godfrey's camp. Bruno hobbled along looking for Godfrey in the blistering cold. Thankfully he was wearing pants, but he had no shoes or shirt. His feet instantly started to numb and his body shivered as he wandered around. After a few seconds a nearby soldier helped Bruno, the soldier told him that the large tent in the middle of the camp was Godfrey's. Bruno hobbled over but was stopped by some soldiers who guarded Godfrey's tent. Bruno spoke urgently, "I am a squire to Lord Godfrey. I must see him now." The soldiers refused him entry as they didn't believe him. At their refusal Bruno clenched his fists, he was prepared to fight them if they refused to move but as Bruno readied himself, the soldier on the left of the tent opening recognized him.

The left soldier's eyes dilated before he spoke up, "You're the young man who went through the trial right?" Bruno nodded which caused the soldier's face to twist into a look of respect. The soldier whistled before turning to the soldier on the right of the opening, "I knew I recognized that large body! Lord Godfrey said if this young man survived he'd reward him. He must have made him his squire." The left soldier looked excited that left Bruno feeling proud, "I've never seen such a large man get his ass kicked for five minutes straight without giving up before. He must be made of Iron!" Bruno felt his ego deflate, the soldier on the right didn't seem to care as he let Bruno in.

As Bruno wandered into the tent he saw how luxurious it was. Bruno didn't know why but the inside was warm and there was no snow on the ground along with strange symbols decorating the ceiling of the tent. Bruno looked around the tent before spotting Godfrey sitting in a chair, reading a book, 'Feet An' Hands, Their Uses'. Bruno was on Godfrey's blind side. Bruno, seeing Godfrey couldn't see him, walked into his line of sight as Godfrey greeted him, "Ah Bruno! What are you doing up? You should rest while you can, it will be a hard journey through all the southern villages. If you died, then I'd lose my investment." He then motioned for Bruno to take a seat as he set his book down.

Bruno tried to sit in one of the chairs but it was just too small, Bruno instead sat on the ground. Bruno spoke, "Lord Godfrey--"

"When it's just us you can call me Godfrey."

Bruno looked uncomfortable but did so, "Godfrey. About my reward. Since I chose to be your squire...does that mean you'll conscript the villagers?" Godfrey looked confused before bursting into laughter.

Godfrey smiled as he replied, "You forced your body up and ran through the snow and freezing wind, just to ask me if I'll conscript the villagers? It seems you're actually a decent guy underneath all the muscle and bad attitude." Bruno's face filled with embarrassment, "No, I will not be conscripting them. There are far too many villagers with only one child here. If we conscript them, who will work?" The logic didn't make sense when Bruno thought back to the book that held his future. Seeing Bruno's suspicion, Godfrey smiled before letting Bruno in on a secret, "At least, that's what I'll say to the count. For me, I prefer individuals to groups. If not conscripting the villagers would make you owe me, then why not? Think of it as a bribe. I'm expecting a lot from you, you know?" Godfrey smiled at Bruno before feigning a frown. Godfrey spoke up, "Well, now that you're here I might as well say it. I apologize for my vulgar display during your trial. I simply wanted to put your back to the wall, to see how far you'd go. As a Lord it was ungentlemanly of me. And as a man I should have never considered it. But when I saw you move after hearing, Auda, was it?" Bruno nodded, "Yes, when I saw you move I felt you would get into the fight again with a small push. I did not expect you to turn the tables and nearly turn my head into soup though." Godfrey's face held a genuine smile as he casually talked about almost dying. "But my point is, I apologize."

Bruno nodded, "Thank you Godfrey." Silence, "I just wish it was a drinking challenge instead, I would at least be in better shape." The two men chuckled before Bruno asked where his tent was. Godfrey then assigned a soldier to guide him. After arriving at his tent Bruno collapsed in his new bed. The soldiers sent to grab his things hadn't returned yet so he decided to take a small nap as he snuggled underneath the heavy blankets.

After forty-five minutes Bruno is awoken by a soldier. The soldier spoke in an irritated tone, "I brought your clothes, there in the crate. We leave in fifteen minutes and you have some visitors."

Bruno nodded before asking a question, "Did you find a book on my bed when you grabbed my clothes?"

The soldier sighed, "No, I did not. There was nothing except some blankets." Bruno looked down in thought as the soldier left before changing into some suitable clothes. Deerskin jacket, pants, and boots. As Bruno prepared to leave his tent, he noticed something strange. He opened up his jacket and saw most of his bruising was gone, not only that, he felt great. The thought concerned him as he tried thinking back to the tavern, as he did so a headache came over him so he stopped.

Bruno spun the gears of his mind as he tried to come up with reasons, "Alright let's think about this. My right arm is fine, but it was broken the last time I was conscious. Broken bones take months of rest to heal so why is mine fine? Not only that my bruising is gone, that should have taken many days of rest considering the amount of bruising. Fuck, what is happening to me?" Bruno took a deep breath to calm himself before he closed his jacket and left the tent.

As Bruno walked out, he saw his parents. They came with Auda, Rambert, and the Elder. His reunion with his parents was brief. His father, who was normally stoic, gave Bruno a great big hug. His mother, usually erratic and petty, gave Bruno a quick cheek grab. Bruno's mother was quite tall for a woman, at 5'10. She has long, light brown hair and gentle brown eyes. Bruno's mother, Bertha, spoke in a calm but motherly tone, "I was so worried when the Elder told me you were unconscious. I'm so glad you're okay sweetie. You always get into trouble when me and your father are working." Bertha smiled at Bruno before continuing, "So, you're leaving the nest?" Bruno nodded, "Then I want you to have this my son." She handed Bruno a small bracelet. Bruno recognized the bracelet immediately. In Schneeland, marriage is done using bracelets, a symbol that through thick and thin you'll stand by each other. Bruno's mother smiled before saying, "That was mine, my mother's and her mother before her. You make sure Auda gets that bracelet, young man. If I find out that Auda isn't my daughter-in-law the next time you visit you're getting an arrow to the back." Bruno scratched the back of his head sheepishly before nodding.

Bruno's father stood at 6'0 and was the tallest person in the village before his son, Bruno, became an adult. He had dark-red hair and small, black eyes. Bruno's father spoke with a tinge of anger, "Son, I'm glad you're alive. I heard from Rambert you offended Lord Godfrey. What were yo--" Bertha then gave Bruno's father a hard smack, cutting him off.

Bertha looked very annoyed, "Bruno's leaving and you're accosting him? Unbelievable Alfarr!? I know Bruno messed up but how could you say that when he might die fighting for the kingdom!" Alfarr turned his head away before rubbing the back of his head.

This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

Alfarr sighed before speaking, "I'm just worried alright. You know Bruno's got a bad attitude and no respect towards authority." Both of Bruno's parents looked at him causing Bruno to look away as though he wasn't a part of the conversation. Bertha sighed before giving Alfarr a hard stare. Under the pressure of Bertha's tough stare, Alfarr spoke to Bruno, "Son, I love you, but hell can you be stubborn sometimes. Just come back alive or you'll make your mother sad."

Bruno nodded before speaking, "Ah, but I'm not becoming a soldier." Bruno's parents looked confused as Bruno explained, "I became Lord Godfrey's squire." Bertha and Alfarr's jaws seemed to hit the floor as they stared at Bruno in disbelief.

Alfarr spoke first, "How in the hell did you become his squire?! I thought you offended him!"

Bruno nodded, "Yes I did. We fought and then, while I was recovering, he visited me and asked me to be his squire." Alfarr just looked dazed as he rubbed his eyes.

Bruno's parents looked back at each other before giving Bruno a worried stare. Bertha spoke up, "I see...just be careful my son. I used to live in the port city, Wasserstadt, in my youth. Nobles can be more dangerous than the sky beasts at times." Bruno nodded, thankful for his mothers warning. While grateful, Bruno felt the warning was unnecessary, for he saw what a slight discourtesy did with Godfrey, what with Bruno nearly losing his life and all.

The three hugged as Bruno wished his parent's well before they walked back to the village, their bows still hung over their shoulders. After his parents walked away, Rambert walked up with his hands in his oversized jacket. As a small, skinny man, the cold affected Rambert more than anyone else, because of that he couldn't really work at the lumber mill or hunt. So, Rambert used his head and made his money in information, getting secrets and news from travelers and merchants before selling said information to other travelers and merchants. The village that they lived in was a few days away from castle Eisengeboren, because of that it was very often that travelers would stop by before heading to the castle. Even though Eisengeboren was called a castle it was in fact more similar to a city, this was because of the large mining operations in the mountains north of the castle. Because of that many travelers stop by for a drink before heading up to the castle. This let Rambert live even in a place that was so inhospitable to someone of his constitution. This normally would have grown the village into a town, however the kingdom itself had a policy, it's called the 'No Growth Policy'. It states that a village needs expressed permission from its noble, in the case of Bruno's village it's a count, in order to grow past a certain point. The problem is the Count of Eisengeboren is known as a lazy man, if he didn't have to he wouldn't. Because of this many villages that are under the Von und Zu Eisengeboren family were never given neither the funds nor the paperwork to grow into a town.

As Rambert walked up he seemed miserable, but happy to see Bruno. Rambert spoke, "How's it going Bruno? Gave me quite the scare when you decided to, I don't know: FIGHT GODFREY AND NOT TELL ME!" Bruno looked touched that Rambert cared, "I could have bet on Godfrey and won a fortune!" Rambert's face showed bitter regret as he thought of the money. A large vein popped out on Bruno's head as he started to squeeze Rambert. Rambert heard his back pop before he started slapping his hand hard on Bruno's body, "UNCLE, UNCLE!" Bruno, after he felt satisfied, let go. Rambert wobbled a bit before coughing out, "I was joking you ox bastard. I'm glad you're okay."

Bruno sighed, "Thanks, you weasel." Rambert chuckled.

Rambert spoke while stretching, "So, I overheard. You're a squire now huh? It seems like only yesterday you were threatening drunks and beating them to death." Bruno looked shocked before Rambert spoke, "Ah, don't worry about that fucker. I grabbed some boys from the mill and tossed his body outside the village a bit a go." Bruno didn't look relieved though. Once more Bruno was reminded that Rambert was good at gathering information.

The two engaged in small talk for a few minutes before it was time to part. Bruno looked a little sad as he said his goodbyes, "Well Rambert, I'll see you again one day. Maybe I'll let you work for me once I become a noble, if I'm feeling generous."

Rambert is a capricious individual and that showed itself as Rambert went from smiling to the verge of tears in seconds as he prepared to say goodbye. A small tear left Rambert's eyes as he gave Bruno a great hug, "I'll hold you up on that." Rambert's voice started to break, "I'll see you again, my brother." Bruno returned the hug with a sad smile before giving him a playful bonk on the head. Rambert overdramatically held the top of his head as he walked off.

The Elder walked up next. Bruno didn't get to say much, it was mostly the Elder flip flopping from criticizing Bruno to wishing him the best of luck without giving Bruno a chance to speak. Bruno felt the Elder was becoming senile at his old age but couldn't say anything. Bruno knew that the next time he visited, the Elder would probably be dead. The Elder was old when Bruno was a kid so it simply was a matter of time at this point. After the Elder said his piece Bruno spoke before he could leave, "Elder." The Elder looked at Bruno, his eyes showing understanding, as though he knew what Bruno wanted to say.

The Elder walked up to Bruno and bumped is fist on Bruno's stomach, "You be careful out there Bruno. There are things in this world that nobody can explain. If you ever run into something like that...just be yourself. The forces of nature respect truth." With his cryptic words spoken the Elder smiled before walking back to the village, not even turning back. It left a solemn air around before Auda walked up, dispelling it.

She extended her arm forward while opening and closing her hand repeatedly. Bruno chuckled, grabbing her hand and putting the marriage bracelet on her wrist. Auda then took the chance to enlock her fingers with Bruno's while giving him a look of longing. But as things started to get heavy, a large horn was blown and soldiers from all over the campsite started to pack up. A few soldiers came over, they had been ordered to disassemble Bruno's tent and get everything to the carriages and carts. As Bruno looked at the men, Auda put her hand on Bruno's chin and using her rough fingers, turned his head to face her before giving him a deep kiss. The sight left the soldiers dismantling Bruno's tent feeling great envy. It's a beautiful thing, being young and in love. To the lovebirds in question, that moment felt as though it would last forever until Bruno separated their mouths and spoke, "Where's Fulbert?"

Auda sighed in annoyance, "He's mad that you broke his table. You also damaged his walls which is going to cost a lot."

Bruno rubbed the back of his head, "I did huh? To be honest I only remember walking downstairs, after that it kind of gets fuzzy." Auda looked concerned before Bruno dispersed her worries with a kiss. After the kiss they just embraced each other in the snow. Minutes passed before a servant came and fetched the pair of lovebirds. Bruno was put in the carriage with Godfrey while Auda was put on one of the servant carriages. As the convoy left the village, Bruno spotted a dead body by the outskirts. It was the drunk Bruno had beaten to death outside the tavern. Bruno didn't know why but as he stared at the body, he swore he could see himself in the man's face, leaving an ominous feeling in his gut.

Over the next month the soldier convoy traveled to all the villages managed by the Von und Zu Eisengeboren's. Over that month Bruno was taught many things such as etiquette as well as his duties. Bruno's job was similar to a personal servant. He would maintain Godfrey's armor and weapons while receiving tasks such as fetching certain items, or delivering messages to other servants in the estate. He would also be required to accompany Godfrey to social and business events, acting as a bodyguard while also learning how to conduct himself and perform business. On top of that he would receive personal combat lessons from Lord Godfrey. Once Bruno was considered acceptable he would be appointed to knighthood. Such a thing usually took years due to multiple factors such as the squire's relation with his lord and paperwork. But at this moment the convoy was simply leaving Bruno's village and heading to the next.

As the convoy left the village Bruno felt strange, leaving his home for the first time. Bruno had never left the village. He had, on occasion, gone to the local forest when his job called for it, but never has he left to visit other villages or towns. His knowledge of the rest of the kingdom came from Rambert. As the convoy traveled, Bruno decided to ask Godfrey some questions, "So, are you an Aura user?" Godfrey nodded, "Can you teach me about Aura?"

Godfrey chuckled before answering, "It is a strange power few have achieved. Based on what I've learned, Aura is unique to the individual. Mine is defensive in nature and can enhance my physical abilities." Bruno looked entranced as Godfrey spoke about Aura, "I have met a few Aura users in my time and I've learned no two Aura's are the exact same. I knew a man whose Aura could burn mana, from what I learned about him he was a mage hunter active in the central part of the world. Another one was a Lady, a foreign dignitary from a small country to the west. Her Aura was like a blade, she could use it to cut almost anything. I learned that the hard way when I handed her my most precious sword..." Godfrey's face showed a grimace as he recalled his Black Iron Sword, that he had gotten as a gift from the king, being cleanly cut in half by her Aura.

Bruno sounded flabbergasted, "Amazing. Do you think...I could awaken Aura?"

Godfrey scratched his chin before staring intently into Bruno's eyes. Godfrey answered, "I'd say you're almost there actually. There's a type of feeling you get around other Aura users. You feel about halfway there. In fact I think you semi unlocked it when you attacked me in the tavern. You breathed out a strange black mist. That was either Aura or you’re possessed by a demon." Bruno looked shocked.

Bruno replied, "I remember leaving the room and going downstairs...but I lost consciousness when I charged at you." Godfrey's face held curiosity as Bruno told his side.

Godfrey thought to himself before speaking, "I see. From what I can understand, your desperation allowed you to pull out some hidden strength. But something felt odd about that mist. Even though Aura is unique to the individual they usually have similar properties like covering a limb, such as an arm or a part of the body like mine, or enveloping objects. However the way it manifests is the same, it seeps through the skin at the desired part of your body or it seeps out and into an object in your possession. However, that black mist came out of your mouth and It not only healed you but amplified your strength as well. I have a feeling that wasn't all it could do either but that's just conjecture." Bruno looked down while scratching his head.

Bruno then asked a question with a childlike hope in his tone, "How do I unlock Aura?"

Godfrey looked out through the window as he measured his response, "Aura is a result of understanding oneself. You must identify your true self and yourself." Bruno looked confused before Godfrey explained, "Everyone has the side they show others and their true self. That's not to say the you now isn't you. You must identify your nature. Your nature is your instincts. When someone makes you mad, what do you do? When you're bored, what do you do? It's your natural inclination towards certain activities. For example, me. Do I seem like a good person to you?" Bruno thought for a moment before shaking his head, "Then prepare to be surprised, my nature is one of virtue. I subconsciously have this feeling to help people. It angers me when the weak are picked on or when people abuse their authority. I came to that conclusion after years of meditation, that was when I unlocked my Aura."

Bruno looked shocked, "But, you're an asshole, and you threatened to kill everyone in my village."

Godfrey nodded, "That is my intellectual self coming in. Every human is made of intellect and nature. My nature is virtuous but my intellectual capabilities house an ambition that can't be achieved with kindness. I simply desired you for my plans, so I tested you and did what I thought was necessary. But going back to my nature, when I was unlocking my Aura, I subdued it. It's still there, I just keep it in check so that I may fulfill my desires." Bruno looked at Godfrey like he was crazy, "It sounds nonsensical but it's true. When unlocking your Aura you have two options, to subdue or combine. I just chose to subdue, so you could say that the person you're talking to is both the false me, and the true me, the me that is on his path to achieve his dreams without interference. However, say I chose to combine instead, I would have become a new person. Both my intellectual self and my nature combining to make, my true self, a version of me with no shame, no negative feelings toward myself. But it wouldn't be me." Godfrey went silent before looking at Bruno, "However, going back to talking about that black mist. It made me extremely uncomfortable, it was as though I was being confronted by an aspect of human nature so primal that I, naturally, felt fear." Godfrey looked at his hands as he remembered the tavern, they started to shake.

Godfrey had visited the tavern for a quick check up on Bruno. He was thoroughly impressed by Bruno, being able to stand up to a significantly more powerful enemy and not back down was impressive, but turning the tables and almost winning; now that caused a plan to formulate. Bruno, if raised correctly, would turn into a powerful second-in-command for when Godfrey's eventual long-term schemes start unfolding. At the tavern he noticed something, the villagers all seemed to despise him greatly. They said nothing but the look in their eyes showed their feelings. This was problematic, from what he had observed, Bruno was emotionally dependent on the villagers, or he just seemed to greatly care for them. That was when he had decided to initiate an arm wrestling contest and teach the villagers techniques for isolating individual parts of a person's body to take a man down in an effort to gain, if not their likeability, then to douse the flames of their dislike with cold water. When he had gotten to Auda he heard a heavy man walk on the second floor. He assumed it to be Bruno and thought this would be a good chance to get Bruno to feel grateful to him. But when Bruno ran down the stairs...Godfrey could see Bruno's anger visibly on his face as he huffed out strange black mist from his mouth. Godfrey felt great danger from Bruno, his instincts lashed out for him to run but if he did so he would lose a good ten men who were truly loyal to him. Godfrey let go of Auda's hand and charged forward, out of his chair, to confront Bruno. Godfrey tried to end the fight quickly by utilizing his Aura but to no avail. Godfrey smashed Bruno's liver, groin, throat, and the sternum of his chest to knock the air out of him, but nothing fazed Bruno. With every hit Godfrey could feel his Aura shake, hitting Bruno was hurting himself more than it was hurting Bruno, but he seemed to be going berserk and couldn't lay a hand on Godfrey. Godfrey noticed that any damage he did inflict would just heal immediately which meant he was in a battle of attrition, losing badly at that. That was until Bruno looked winded, Godfrey took the opportunity to end the fight, but instead he felt Bruno's large hand grip his head before he felt a strike to the middle of his face launch him through the table and smash him against the wall. His neck twisted strange and he was stunned.

Another aspect of Aura that Godfrey didn't tell Bruno was it's weaknesses. For Godfrey, while he was physically protected, he could feel all damage taken to his Aura. So, when Godfrey was against the wall and his Aura cracked, to Godfrey; it felt like his skull was smashed apart yet still whole. He felt true fear similar to his first day on the battlefield as Bruno began to run at him. Godfrey was convinced he would die then, that was until Bruno collapsed to the floor with blood pooling from his face. Seeing this Godfrey felt panic, such a powerful weapon and he was about to lose it! For his ambition, for his dream, Godfrey stood up. He felt like a corpse but still delivered his orders.

Godfrey's mind came back to the present before he took a deep breath and steadied himself, saying, "An Aura's shape and color reveals a hint to its user's nature. I don't know what a black mist represents but I don't think I want to know. I believe your nature is extremely basic." Bruno Looked confused before Godfrey explained, "A person's nature is very basic, however there are degrees to it. Their nature still has thoughts such as sleep, eat, and sex...but yours did not feel like that. It was as though you were put on this world for one reason, violence. No excess, just brutality. "

Bruno looked down as he considered Godfrey's words, "Then, should I never try to unlock Aura?"

Godfrey shook his head, "No. But you should make preparations. When someone awakens Aura their nature takes over their body as they either subdue it or combine. In that time, such a person could easily kill everyone around them should their inner nature be violent." Bruno looked down darkly as Godfrey continued, "However, you can ask other Aura users to deal with you as you're overcoming your nature. Like me for example. You unlocking Aura will only benefit me after all." Bruno looked up at Godfrey gratefully and thanked him. Godfrey added his last piece of wisdom, "But be careful when you awaken. It is possible to fail an awakening. In such a situation, you don't subdue or combine, you perish and your nature takes your body, permanently. But as it's just instincts, it quickly turns into a powerful, horrible monster. Even my nature would be corrupted over time, turning me into a disgusting creature should I have failed. That is the fate of people who fail during their awakening...and why Aura users are rare." Bruno swallowed hard as the journey to the next village continued.

The rest of the ride to the next village was spent making small talk as Godfrey opened a book on fencing, 'The Graceful Way To Impress Women'. Two days passed before the convoy arrived at the next village around late evening, Godfrey signaled Bruno to follow him. The two went to the village head's house and Godfrey negotiated the conscription. Godfrey spoke in absolutes and over the course of a few hours lured the village head into a corner. They had agreed upon taking the eldest child from families with multiple children, but if people were found to be hiding their eldest children then they would take anyone over the age of Sixteen in that family. As Bruno accompanied Godfrey he saw how the latter conducted himself in front of his men and his orders. Godfrey ruled by presence and power, his orders were absolute and no dissent was tolerated, he had the presence of a Tyrant. Godfrey instructed his men to set up camp and ordered a servant to grab a chair. Bruno stayed standing, not like he would fit in one of the chairs anyway. As they waited for the camp to be constructed, Godfrey signaled a different servant and ordered them to fetch Auda who arrived after a few minutes. She gave an awkward bow that did not look natural in the least, the gesture caused Bruno to break out into laughter as Auda's face turned fierce. Bruno then looked to the side, pretending that he didn't do anything.

Godfrey chuckled at their interactions before addressing Auda, "Now that we have time to talk I will fully explain your duty. Officially, you will be my maid. You will be taught to clean and manners so as to not embarrass me when I have guests. You will learn to cook in case I'm hungry and you will be taught bedroom etiquette in case I'm feeling lustful." Auda, who was nodding along, had all the color drain from her face and Godfrey sensed great killing intent from Bruno. Godfrey raised his hand to signal Auda and Bruno to let him continue, "Unofficially, you are a lady-in-waiting. When Bruno achieves Knighthood he will be a noble, so along with your duties as a maid you will learn the ways of nobility so as to not embarrass him when you eventually marry." Auda let out a breath of relief and Bruno stopped staring daggers into Godfrey. Godfrey then addressed Bruno, "And you, my squire, must learn to get a better handle on your emotions. If you'd done that to any other noble you could be imprisoned and hanged, you are still a commoner. Who would protect Auda if you're dead?" Bruno looked down, a serious expression on his face. Godfrey sighed before dispensing some wisdom, "It's not a bad thing to be protective but there is a time and place. If someone insults her, you defend her, with WORDS! If someone physically harasses her or touches her inappropriately, then you challenge them to a duel! You do not threaten their life or attack them! Doing so could leave you stranded in the turbulent sea of politics once you become a noble. However, that is for people of significant status. If a thug or commoner dares do such a thing, you may deal with the situation as you please. Just note that your every action will generate a reputation and change how commoners and nobles alike treat you." Bruno nodded his head gratefully as he took Godfrey's advice to heart. Godfrey smiled, sure that his advice went through. He then spoke, "Now that the serious subjects have passed, you two will get to see something interesting." Auda and Bruno looked curiously at Godfrey, who said nothing else.

After an hour, the camp was fully set up, but instead of relaxing the soldiers seemed to be making an arena. Upon seeing it, Bruno and Auda stopped their small talk as they looked at Godfrey, curiosity bubbling in their eyes. Godfrey smirked before speaking, "You must be interested no? This is a little tradition with our soldiers. Every once in a while when we're camped around a village they'll build a makeshift arena and duke it out to win the...sexual attention of women or men. A few of them must be in the village right now, trying to get girls and guys alike to watch. It's sort of like a mini festival, minus the food and drink." Bruno looked disgusted as Godfrey mentioned homosexuals. Godfrey sighed, "You get used to such things on the battlefield and high society. Believe me when I say I have seen way worse things than this, such as the practice of child brides from certain foreign dignitaries." Godfrey's expression went dark as he recalled a wicked memory. Bruno looked skeptical but accepted Godfrey's answer, he hasn't led Bruno astray yet.

Bruno asked a question, "I understand however, the head religion, Zweig, forbids such things. I'm not a holy man, but angering the gods doesn't seem wise."

Godfrey looked at Bruno flatly, "See enough things and you realize the god's don't care too much about us mortals. I have seen holy men give the dead their last rights before extorting their family, for the good of the deceased's soul of course. I have seen commoners give up their children to sexually deviant priests for the good of their village. If the gods cared, why would they let their most devout servants commit such disgusting acts?" As Godfrey posed the question, Bruno could see a wave of cold hatred wash over Godfrey's face, his right eye twitching. Godfrey spoke through clenched teeth, "It's high time us nobles put a leash on those animals." Godfrey's face was rigid, his expression sharp as he spoke.

Bruno was shocked by Godfrey's strong emotions associated with the topic, it gave Bruno food for thought, "Note to self, don't trust people of power, specifically priests. The world...isn't how I thought it was."

An uncomfortable silence fell over the two before Auda spoke, "Let's not talk about such serious things. They finished building!" The arena was finished as a large crowd of soldiers, servants, and villagers crowded around. A few young men walked in first and started to throw hands. Auda chirped, "It seems we have our first contenders. I bet by the end of this, they both lose." Bruno chuckled.

Godfrey spoke, "Any strike your fancy, Auda?"

Auda laughed hysterically, "If they can handle Bruno I'll consider it. Not." Bruno extended his chest proudly as a woman servant walked up.

The servant bowed, "Lord Godfrey, honor to you." Godfrey nodded, "If it isn't too much a bother my Lord, I'd like to take Auda closer to see the arena." Godfrey looked at Auda

Auda thought for a moment, "I wouldn't mind, Lord Godfrey." Godfrey looked to the servant before nodding. The servant looked excited as she walked with Auda to the arena.

Bruno smiled before joking, "Looks like she made a friend, I'm almost surprised." Godfrey snickered.

Godfrey spoke, "It is because I ordered her to do so. A lord's servants are their eyes and ears. And sometimes a fist should it be required. Remember that, dear squire." Bruno nodded.

The two watched fighters come and go from a distance for an hour, it started to get dark as some soldiers began pulling out torches and handing them around. Over that hour many men and women came and went, leaving with their desired partner. But eventually something peculiar occurred. Godfrey stood up from his chair and motioned for Bruno to follow as he made his way closer to the arena. As the two got closer they started to get a grasp on what happened. A soldier stood in the middle of the arena and was performing proactive gestures to the crowd while standing over a few unconscious men, it seemed he challenged them to a 1v2 and won, he had a few bruises but was otherwise unscathed. As Bruno looked in the direction the soldier was performing the gesture, there he saw Auda and the servant. They were at the front and the crowd had parted, leaving them in a gap. The soldier's gestures quickly turned sexual as he stared lustfully at the pair, mainly looking at Auda. The soldier shouted, "Are you not impressed? Perhaps we should take this to my tent? Wouldn't mind the two of ya!" The soldier wasn't bad looking, on the contrary he looked like a muscular, lady-killer type with his long golden brown hair, stubble, and sharp jawline. Auda looked flattered but uncomfortable while the servant next to her was fanning herself with her hand. Auda pulled back her sleeve and showed off her marriage bracelet, the soldier, however, didn't seem to care, "How about you forget about that bracelet for the next fifteen minutes? I guarantee you'll enjoy that time with me more than whoever gave that to you. Take a ride with a REAL man." At that he extended his waist, pointing his covered genitals in the girls direction.

After witnessing this, Bruno's face contorted into a demonic expression. His neck muscles started to strain as he stared daggers at the soldier. Auda and the servant were on the other side of the arena, with the soldier facing them, away from Bruno. Instead of charging in and beating the man to death, Bruno remembered Godfrey's words, 'Just note that your every action will generate a reputation and change how commoners and nobles alike treat you'. As Bruno was thinking, the soldier hopped over the fence and grabbed Auda's wrist, forcefully. Bruno, upon seeing this, quickly walked towards the arena as the crowd started to split. As Bruno parted the crowd he saw many expressions, some looked excited, some looked scared, and some eyed Bruno like a prime piece of beef making him uncomfortable. Once Bruno reached the arena he hopped over the makeshift fence. As he stared he could see the people around Auda looking upset. The pseudo festival was meant to attract people for casual sex, not to force them. It was ruining the spirit of it. Bruno looked behind him to Godfrey. Godfrey normally would have intervened but it seemed he wanted to see how Bruno dealt with the situation.

Seeing Godfrey's inaction pissed Bruno off before he shouted, "HEY JACKASS!" Bruno's voice caused the people closest to the arena to hold their ears. The lecherous soldier turned around and froze, Auda's wrist in one hand, her right breast in the other, and his lips wet from a forced kiss. Auda looked down with tears welling up in her eyes, clearly distressed. Seeing this, Bruno's muscles strained as his black eyes stared holes into the lecherous soldier. Bruno was wearing heavy clothes for the cold and yet they grew tight as Bruno's muscles strained themselves in rage. The lecherous soldier stood paralyzed as he stared at the enraged giant, his mind making the connections of his actions and Bruno in the arena. Once the soldier was distracted, Auda, with tears in her eyes, pulled back her right leg and smashed it into his groin. The soldier made a high pitch noise as he crumbled to the floor with a pained expression. Auda then stomped a mud hole in his ass, her years of waitress experience dealing with grabby assholes at the tavern kicking in as she kicked his most delicate spots with pinpoint precision. The sight calmed Bruno down somewhat as he stared at the lecherous soldier getting his comeuppance.

After beating the shit out of the lecherous soldier, Auda walked into the arena and made a proclamation as she wiped the tears from her eyes, her tone slightly erratic, "The next asshole who does that to me gets a free ticket for a Bruno beat down! And anyone who tries that on Bruno gets their asses stomped by me!" The crowd was left silent before erupting into cheers. Many people were clapping or laughing as the pseudo festival went back into full swing. Auda then grabbed Bruno's hand and led him out of the arena. Godfrey followed them back to the chair he'd been sitting in before.

As the three walked away, the lecherous soldier stood up shakily while holding his groin. His eyes shot dangerously towards Auda and Bruno as a wicked plan started to form in his mind, "You'll pay for this bitch. By tomorrow you’ll be begging for it." As the lecherous soldier walked away he could hear and see people laughing at him. He soon reached his communal tent in embarrassment.

As soon as Godfrey reached his chair, he pulled out a small book from his coat pocket, 'The Quickest Way to a Man's heart, Through the Armpit'. As Godfrey sat and read he motioned for the two of them to do as they wished. Bruno went for a bow followed by Auda, afterwards Bruno picked up Auda in a bridal carry, walking to his tent. As Bruno walked into his tent, an emotionally distressed Auda started to get lovey-dovey, kissing Bruno and putting his hands on her breasts while moaning.

This interested Bruno as his penis became erect but he quickly stopped Auda. She looked confused as she started to tear up. Bruno said nothing but just gently laid her down into the bed before getting in. He grabbed the blankets, covering her and himself, there Bruno embraced Auda in a comforting way, his big strong arms and warm body calming Auda down. After a few minutes Auda spoke up, her voice was weak and tiny, on the verge of tears, "Thank you Bruno...I...I was so scared. He was grabbing me...and...and no one stopped him. If you hadn't yelled...I...he..." Her voice cracked under emotions as she buried herself into Bruno's chest, sobbing. As she wept, Bruno started to rub her hair and held her tight.

Bruno spoke in a low, calming tone, "Nothing would have happened. I saw what you did to the guy. He didn't stand a chance." Bruno's reassuring tone and choice of words caused her to laugh through her tears. Soon her tears dried up and she fell asleep in Bruno's arms. Bruno looked at her affectionately before trying to get out of bed. Auda's hands clung tight to him so he gently pried her hands open and tucked her in. Bruno then left the tent with a furious expression on his face, he had one thing on his mind, "How dare he do this to her...I won't feel satisfied until I've ripped out his throat..." Bruno's anger had started to reach his peak as his mind thought up scenarios of what would have happened if he wasn't there.

As Bruno stood outside his tent, he looked up; the moon looked bloody this night.
