Frost Sect.
Two guards were stationed at the gate. One of them was abnormally tall and the other was fat. They used nicknames like 'bamboo' and 'fatty' while conversing with each other.
"Did you hear that the spring sect is organizing a tournament?"
Fatty asked.
Bamboo replied. "Does it matter? It's not like we can go over and have a look."
Fatty agreed. "True. True."
Suddenly the ground started shaking.
Rumble! Rumble! Rumble!
"Huh. What's that noise?"
Fatty looked ahead. But, could not spot anything.
Swoosh.
Suddenly, he spotted a large claw advancing toward his head.
"Wha..."
That's the last thing he saw before his head rolled over to the ground.
Heeek!
Bamboo was taken aback by the sudden attack. So, he tried to warn others. But, a claw pierced through his back and came out from the front.
Cough! Cough!
He started throwing up blood.
He turned behind to see the culprit before his demise, and he was shocked by the sight.
The beast had the lower half of the lion's body with wings and the upper half of an eagle. The beast was as big as a minivan. It gobbled his entire body in a matter of a second.
"Ah. That hits the spot. I haven't had humans for so long that I forgot how good they taste."
'Frozen Arrow'
The arrows lunged toward the gate. The gate froze shortly after it came in contact with arrows.
'Wind Cutter'
The griffin slashed at the gate diagonally-it caused the gate to disintegrate into small chunks.

Behind the Gate.
Seven guards were conversing with each other in a joyous mood.
Suddenly, the entire gate froze.
"What's g....."
The gate shattered into small chunks before they could even finish the question.
One of the guards shouted. "An enemy attack."
"One of you go inform the elders. Rest, get into a defensive formation." The leader of the guard ordered.
Soon, one of the guards ran toward the sect hall. The rest unsheathed their sword and held the shields.

The griffin saw one of the guards trying to flee.
"Oh no, you don't."
It dashed toward the informer. But, it was blocked by other guards in the mid-way.
"You dare block me, puny ants"
'Frost arrows'
It launched multiple arrows. The arrows froze the shields once in contact. The guards were forced to abandon the shield.
"Don't let it get to the informer." The leader of the guard yelled and charged at the griffin.
"Very well. You have managed to get on my nerves"
'Lightning Surge'
Lightning bolts emerged from its body and surged toward the guards.

"Dodge"
The leader yelled and dashed to the left. He dodged the attack but the rest were not as lucky.
Bzzt!
The guards were paralyzed on the floor.
"I'll start with you."
The griffin appeared in front of the nearest guard and crushed his head.
Splat!
The contents of the head flew everywhere and the guard's body went limp.
Nooooooooooooo!
"You bastard."
The leader dashed toward the griffin. But, the griffin dodged him quickly and went to the next victim.

The informer was sprinting at full speed. He reached the sect hall in a few minutes.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
He banged the door loudly.
"Who is it?"
An angry noise came from the inside.
"Elder, it's me Yu Song."
"Why are you here making noise at this hour?" The elder asked with irritation.
Yu Song replied. "It's an emergency, elder. We are under attack."
"What??" The elder was taken aback.
"You do know the punishment for pulling pranks right, He Song?" The elder didn't believe Yu Song.
"I'm not pulling pranks, elder. We are under attack. Our gate has been destroyed already."
He Song refuted the elder.
"Yu Song is a good-natured kid. He wouldn't lie when it comes to the matter of the sect's security." The elder thought.
"Alright, lead the way."
The elder followed Yu Song toward the entrance.

Splat!
The griffin crushed the head of the last paralyzed guard.
"You monstttttterrrrrrrrr."
The exhausted leader kept yelling and attacking it. But, kept dodging the attack and paid him no heed. It was toying with him.
"Now, It's your turn." Finally, the griffin laid its eyes on the leader.
'Flicker'
The griffin appeared in front of the leader in a split second.
"Wha..."
The leader's eyes became wide due to shock.
It is said that an average cultivator can sprint at the speed of 150 kmph (93 mph) at the peak-evolution realm,
250 kmph (155 mph) at the entry-dominion realm,
350 kmph (217 mph) at the mid-dominion realm,
and 500 kmph (310 mph) at the peak-dominion realm.
So, it was understandable for the leader's shock. The griffin was about 2x faster than the sect leader.

Words left the leader's mouth.

The griffin sliced him open.

The elder and Yu Song arrived right after the leader's death.
"You dare."
The elder launched a sword at the Griffin. It was caught off guard and the sword managed to land on it. But, it was left unharmed because of its thick skin.
He Song looked around and saw his fallen comrades scattered.
"I'm sorry everyone. I wasn't fast enough."
Yu Song fell on his knee and broke down into tears.
"Kid, Pay attention. We don't have time to mourn the dead. We should deal with it first to honor the fallen."
The elder consoled Yu Song.
"Yes, leader."
Yu Song wiped his tears. Now, his eyes were filled with hatred instead.
The elder took out a bell-like treasure and crushed it.
"Everyone, We are under attack."
The message reverberated all over the sect in a few seconds.

Soon, the message reached everyone's ear.
"Who is so arrogant?"
The elders started gathering in the location of the commotion.
"Who dares to cause a commotion here?"
One of the elders asked.
Yu Song pointed in the direction of the griffin.
"That bird? Let me teach it a lesson."
The elder was about to confront the griffin.
Suddenly, he heard a domineering voice.
"You would be throwing your life away."
Everyone turned to the source of the voice. They could see an old man with white hair and a white uniform approaching them.
"Greetings, Sect Leader Zhou Tai."
Everyone bowed in respect.
The sect leader said. "Leave the bird to me. You folks deal with other beasts, and help the citizens to evacuate."
The elders were confused, and one of them mentioned.
"Sect leader there is no one else except the bird."
"They are here." The sect leader replied.
Soon, the hordes of beasts started appearing from the forest.
"Took you long enough. Now, go and attack the small fries." The griffin gave an order.

There were around two thousand beasts. Half of them were in the mutation realm. While 750 were at the entry-archon realm, 200 at the mid-archon realm, and 50 at the peak-archon realm.
The elders offered a suggestion.
"Sect leader there are too many beasts. We can't deal with all of them. We should call 'Martial Alliance' for help."
However, Zhou Tai interjected.
"Even if we ask for help. It'll take them a couple of days to arrive. We'll be wiped out by then. Just help the citizens evacuate."
"Yes, sect leader."
The elders replied in unison. Soon, a battle for survival commenced.

Zhou Tai advanced toward the griffin.
"Why are you attacking our sect? We had done nothing wrong."
The griffin replied. "It is the wish of the supreme one. Don't worry, soon other sects will also join you."
"We'll see about that"
Zhou Tai's eyes began to turn white and his pupil turned into a hexagonal shape like an ice crystal. Then, he began floating in the air like any other cultivator in the dominion realm.
'Ice Domain'
Zhou Tai created an ice domain that covered an area of 500 meters. Soon, snowfall started within the domain.
"You aren't the only one with advanced level mastery of the 'ice' element."

The Griffin also released an ice domain, and it was superior to Zhou Tai's domain as it covered an area of 700 meters.
Soon, the domains started clashing against each other.
'Ice Spear'
Ice spears started materializing around Zhou Tai. Then, he merged the spears into one. The merged spear was around 50 meters long and 5 meters wide.
"GO"
The giant spear lunged toward the Griffin.
'Ice Mountain'
The Griffin materialized a mountain made of ice and lunged it toward the sword.
Boom!
The impact pushed back Zhou Tai a few meters which caused his domain to be pushed back too. But, the impact didn't affect the griffin.

"That's the difference between entry and mid-dominion realm."
'Ice Mountain'
The griffin materialized another mountain and lunged toward Zhou Tai. But, Zhou Tai was able to defend using a merged spear.

The battle had razed almost all the buildings in the sect by midnight burying half of the citizens beneath.
South of the sect.
The elders and the guards were fighting the beasts while helping with the evacuation.
One of the elders asked, "How long till the evacuation is complete?"
The guard replied. "We need to buy three more hours."
The elder couldn't help but lament.
"We are already exhausted. Yet, there is no end to beasts. Is this how we die?"
