I Became the Commander of an Army?!
Chapter 5: Set on trial... fuck you

Chapter 5: Set on trial... fuck you

My mind awoke to the feeling of coldness spreading across my body like cold water dripping down your chin as you take a sip of water. It was like that in between the feeling of warm and cold. Is it chilly? Well I am feeling super fucking chilly, where’s my blanket!

I fluttered my eyes open to see a beautiful ceiling that looked like it was made for the archduke of Paris or something. A top floor penthouse suite was what this ceiling was conveying to me.

I shot my body up and I was staring at such a large room! Laying atop a bed in the middle of the room, a canopy arched on the front posters at the foot of the bed.

What happened just now? Was everything seriously not a dream? Am I actually in a whole nother reality?

If so, then why is God so cruel as to make me get shot twice!

First with a gun and now with a crossbow bolt. Just how unlucky in two lives can I get? Is it my soul? Should I ask for a new one?

   Knock. Knock.

   Is that death?!

Without my say so, a beautiful girl entered the room slowly. Wearing a blue sleeved uniform that buttoned all the way up to her chin. Her blonde hair covering part of her eye as she focused on the tray she was holding.

There seemed to be...scissors and a knif- she’s trying to fucking kill me! Bish trying to tie up loose ends I’ve seen it all before on Criminal Minds!

“Oh!” She cutely startled, placing the tray on a hassock in front of the bed.

“General Grim, sir! Captain Amanda,  reporting in.” She announced, saluting with her arm across her chest.

I eventually broke into a smile then broke out into an unrestrained laugh. The girl in front of me is really cute. I almost don’t want to wake...up…

Wait, this isn’t a dream… I wouldn’t have felt that pain from an arrow if this world wasn’t real.

Is this world real though? I need to make sure…

I scanned around the room and noticed the girl was still saluting. “Um, at ease?” I said weakly and she put her arms back to her side.

“Where are we?” I asked as I took notice of her completely bandaged hand.

   “...The General Quarters, sir.”

“No, I mean. This uh, city, this town. Where are we?”

She gave me a blank stare then her eyes widened when she scratched the back of her head. For some reason, she picked up the scissors from the tray and walked towards me briskly like she solidified her resolve!

“Alright! You don’t need to answer! I’m sorry for trying to use the authority I had!” cowering as I brought my arms in front of my face.

“When we got to you, you were injured on the floor. You must have fallen off the horse and hurt your head. The doctor was going to change your bandages but I insisted on coming in.” She spoke emotionlessly as she brought the scissors up.

   “I’m fine, I’m fine! It’s just the… hangover.”

She furrowed her brows kind of cutely and straightened back up.

“We are in Rubeus City, the capital of the Ruby Kingdom. If you are asking specifically, we are in the royal palace of the Noble District. Eastern Wing, General Quarters . If-“

“Alright, alright. I think I got it. I feel like if I don’t stop you, you would proceed to tell me the measurements of each room.” I stated, looking up to the glossy eyed Amanda whose mouth was halfway open. “Thank you, Amanda.”

She tilted her adorable head as if she was genuinely confused. Then proceeded to salute once more.

“So, uhh status report. Did we win?”

Her face darkened and I swear her ears folded down like a puppy.

“It was a successful defense…” she replied all somberly.

Why is she saying it so sad? Is that how people of this world express victories? Shouldn’t we be overjoyed and getting drunk?

   “However…”

“Oh before you go on, how is Captain Owens? He was by my side before I lost consciousness. I wish to thank him for haha, keeping me alive. I thought I was done for again.”

I really wondered how he is. The last thing I saw was him pulling out a sword to defend me from someone talking. I will congratulate him with the highest of praise!

   “...Again?”

Ah why can’t I learn to think before I speak. Is it a growing up thing? An error in my brain that refuses to cooperate with my mouth?

“Regarding Captain Owens...he was killed during a skirmish with the enemy that ambushed you.”

   He died?

“Oh. That’s...unfortunate. He was good company for  the amount of time I knew him. Well, should we host a funeral for our Captain?”

To be honest, i didn’t really feel anything. How could I? I’ve been in this world thinking everything around me is a dream. To actually think I am reincarnated, as a general no less, and played with the lives of hundreds of soldiers along with the lives of the Captains accompanying me… If I were to feel anything...

   I wouldn’t be human.

   Knock. Knock.

The door pushed open and about ten guards poured in like the little minions they are.

I could tell something is wrong as I glanced up to see Amanda’s surprised look and furrowed brows.

When the five nobodies were on both sides each, a tall man in dark silver armor strolled with his hands behind his back as if he owned the damn place. His bald head added to the menacing aura  he exuded as he stared at the two of us.

Amanda clicked her boots together and saluted towards the tall figure like he was the Chancellor or something. I mean, she did it to me too, but I can get a little jealous can't I. Salute only to me that's an order!

   Haha.

I laughed inwardly as I glanced up at her again. I could see that her face darkened even more while her eyes were glaring at the man in front of us. Who is he?

“Minister Vettus, what is the meaning of this?” Amanda spoke harshly

The man glanced at her as with his beady eyes as if he was staring at trash. I couldn’t help but clench my fist from just his gaze alone. How dare he look at my cute junior like that!

“Scum shouldn’t be allowed to enter the palace.” The bastard spoke! He then turned his giant ass head to one of the knights. “Seize her and bring her to the dungeons for conspiracy in treason. Search for the archery captain Lance as well. He should be hanging close by.”

“Hey! Who do you think you are? What treason!” Yelling out, not able to withhold my anger.

If I could punch this bitch ass looking guy I would. But, Amanda called him Minister… What is happening?

His eyes flashed and his veins seemed to be popping out his neck.

“General Grim. You are ordered to be restrained and to be set trial in front of the king. If you are to resist, I wouldn’t mind ending your life right here. It’s about time someone put you in your place!” He shouted with contempt.

Seriously, what the fuck is going on? I just got here! Did I somehow get reincarnated into a guy with no reputation. But I am a General? How can this bald no name just order my arrest?

The room I was escorted to was a giant hall at the center of the palace. Pillars were crimson as if stained with blood.

There was a large crowd filled the hall with palace guards keeping them back. They were shouting my name with insults as if I commited murder of their favorite celebrity or something. Just what in the hell is going on.

I currently stood in front of the crowd and in front of a towering throne bathed in jewels.

“General Grim, you have finally awoken.” the tone was supercilious from the towering figure sat upon the throne.

The aura he exuded was nothing less than Kingly.  Donning eye blinding golden armor with a crown fitted over his long white hair. It gave me chills just staring at him.

“Yes, your highness.” I said, copying the salute from the captains.

“We lost many of the kingdom’s knights in today’s battle. Do you still call yourself the best tactician in the kingdom? How are you still standing there proudly while families weep right in front of you and outside the palace?” Sneered an old man with grey hair under a funny looking hat.

He had a black robe along with a pendant pinned on his collar. His tone was condescending and it really pissed me off. This is war, does he expect everyone to live?

I glanced over at the king, waiting for him to put the bastard in his place.

Then he glanced at the bastard who just spoke then back at me with a lazy expression.

“Minister Han is right. These actions are indeed intolerable.” He agreed emotionlessly as if he couldn’t be bothered!

   “What!”

What?! He’s actually agreeing with the bastard! Furthermore, he’s a minister? How does one who never steps foot in battle judge a commander of an army? This just doesn’t make sense!

“That’s not all.” the bitch of a minister spoke up again. “There were multiple witnesses to an act of treason!”

Dead silence. Not even the knights and staff behind me were murmuring anymore. Along with a huge crowd filling the space behind me as well, no one dared to even breathe.

“I did no such thing! What treason are you suspecting?”

The minister did an audible scoff then proceeded to read from a piece of parchment.

“General Grim was seen standing alongside Captain Owens on the day of battle. Multiple accounts.”

   Captain Owens?

“Yeah? Is there something strange with that?” I replied, anger filling my eyes.

Murmurs started to rise from the sheep crowd again as soon as I answered.

“And following that, multiple people saw you stab the chest of the Captain with your broadsword. Again, multiple accounts.”

“What a lying piece of alleyway trash you are!” I bursted out, fuming out the nose.

Yelling from the crowd grew intense at my outburst. Did I upset these people? Can’t they see my name is being run through the dirt! How can I be framed like this.

“Silence!” The king bellowed, causing the hall to become silent once more.

“General Grim what do you have to say to these claims? Multiple knights and even a subordinate of yours were facing unnecessary treatment. Most of your army was slaughtered, is that victory? Normally I would not mind matters of a General but Captain Owens was the second son of one of the wealthiest families in our city.

“The people claimed you as the most prestigious General to have ever graced our kingdom. What do you have to say to all these people? Do you even repent for your actions?”  The king said in a manner that didn’t conceal his intent to mock me.

I kept my head high as I was being framed on the spot. This isn’t how I envisioned my afterlife to go. I’ve only been through one battle and now they want to throw me to the dirt? Is this my fate?

“I cannot repent for something I didn’t do.” I said coldly.

“The fool doesn’t even repent for his sins.” A haughty voice yelled out.

I looked to the side to see a tall man in shining golden armor that matched the king. He step out from behind a pillar. His face was admittedly handsome but his voice irritated me to the point of rather listening to a One Direction song on repeat.

“Son Henry, welcome.” The king greeted into which my jaw dropped.

So this is his son? Assuming from his armor, he must be the crown prince. Just what do all these people have against me?

I glared coldly at the child with the eyes of a demon.

“If you cannot repent, then you must prove your worth. Advance our eastern border and take control of the Harrok Castle from the Boar kingdom. If you are victorious then your name will be cleared. However, defeat means the end of your life.” The King spoke.

Oh great, my life ending for a second time? I just got here! The only thing that I enjoyed was having that cute looking captain of mine. Then again… where are my captains? Your General is on trial here!

“Furthermore, you will be expelled from the palace for the time being. That is all. Dismissed.”

My heart dropped and my fist clenched…

   The room was really comfortable!
