"He is called Roy. It is said that the Sect Leader brought him back from his travels."
Old Wang was the most senior individual here, yet he was not respected at all.
"Sect Leader? Haha. Don't jest." The group of servants began to laugh.
The one which seemed to be leading the group then stood up. "Since he was someone brought back by the Sect Leader, then he must definitely be an unparalleled genius. Why don't I test him out?"
His name was Kicu, and he was the head of the 100 odd servants on Poro Mountain. He was 32 years old this year, in his prime. It was said that he was at the fourth tier of the Qi Refining Realm, possessing the ability of one at the Strengthening Viscera tier.
"No!"
Old Wang used his frail and skinny body to shelter Roy before shouting,
"He was poisoned in the mortal world and has been crippled. Please don't trouble him." This was what his superior told him when assigning Roy to him.
Roy had never imagined that at a time like this, Old Wang would protect him, not even hesitating to go against this group of servants. Roy silently took note of this kindness in his heart, probably.
If not for Old Wang, he would likely have received a beating, especially since Roy was new. Or not, they would all be turned into minced meat in his hands.
Since he was new over here, it wouldn't be funny if he got kicked out of the sect right away should he accidentally blast these people into oblivion. If that happened, how could he exacted his revenge upon that old beggar?
'What kind of a joke is this? a 30 something-year-old Qi Refining Stage wanna test me? Lol'
'Previously at level 3, my strength should be comparable to a Late Foundation Establishment Realm Cultivator. So, these people bear no threats against me.' Roy thought in his mind.
"Oh, turns out it’s a piece of trash." Kicu said, mockingly.
"Let's get the unpleasant things out first. Regardless of whether you're trash or not, you will have to do your work. If you miss even one thing, you will pay with your life. I, Kicu, am not someone who will sympathize with trash."
"Furthermore, Goddess Marja Moon is the one who handed me the responsibility of caring for this garden. She trusts me," Kicu said without any restraint.
"Oh really." Roy said absentmindedly.
"You.." Kicu was instantly irritated.
"Boss Kicu, please be at ease. If he does anything less, I will make up for it myself," Old Wang replied.
"You will, you old bag of bones? Are you even able to?" he sent a sharp gaze to Roy before turning to the old guy.
Kicu gave a cold smile before turning and shouting to the group, "Brothers, you have to do your jobs well today. There are a few external disciples who will be paying a visit to Goddess Marja Moon. You need to take good care of their Sky Cranes. If anything happens, you will have to pay with your mongrel lives!"
"Yes, Sir! As Boss Kicu commands!" everyone answered.
As there was something important that had to be done, Kicu could not be bothered to continue troubling that pair any longer.
Not long after Kicu's command, the sounds of Sky Cranes could he heard amidst the mist in the skies. Several huge Sky Cranes descended into the garden and then several youths unmounted them.
All of them were not very old and looked about Roy's age. They all wore exquisite robes that looked even more elegant than those worn by even the Emperor!

The males had an impressive air of nobility and boundless vitality. The females were extremely graceful and possessed flawless snow-white skin. They were cheerful and lightheartedly talking. They inspired envy.
"Senior Apprentice Moon, we are here to learn the Immortal Dao from you today."
Several of the external disciples were smilingly walking towards Poro's palace. The surrounding rabble was not deserving of their attention. They were mostly at the Middle Spirit Foundation Realm, with the highest being in the late stage of the aforementioned cultivation realm.
After the external disciples had left, Kicu started shouting his commands loudly.
"Take care of the beasts properly!"
Old Wang did not speak much and directly showed Roy how to feed and take care of the Sky Cranes.
Roy had gotten a grasp of the rules around the place and hence began to diligently learn and execute his tasks, all to ensure that Old Wang would not get into any further trouble.
In the blink of an eye, it was evening.
Marja Moon had given the word that the gathering was over, so all of those fellow cultivators had to leave the mountain. Roy and Old Wang were like grandfather and son, lying on top of a large, azure rock to rest.
Roy then asked Wang about the details of the sect to get a better understanding of the numerous matters regarding the sect, cultivation.
All of a sudden, they heard someone shouting in panic. The two of them immediately rushed over. There was a Sky Crane vomiting and defecating all over, looking extremely berserk.
"That is a crane of one of the visitors!"
Upon seeing this sight, everyone began to panic. Even Kicu was trembling with fear. It was right at this time that the immortals were leaving Poro's palace. One glance told them everything.
"My Boobeyes!" A nerdy looking youth ran out from within the crowd. He was garbed in a black and white robe with a jade ornament clasped onto his waist. On his back rested a jeweled longsword.
It was the name of his dear Sky Crane.
"Who was the one who took care of my Immortal Sky Crane?" That nerdy youth bellowed out loud, looking furious.
His voice reverberated through everyone's ears. Old Wang was almost frightened to the point that he fell off the rock.
Bluntly speaking, no one was assigned any Sky Cranes in a specific fashion, and everyone fed whichever crane was available. Furthermore, all of them looked the same, so who would know who fed which one?
Furthermore, this had nothing to do with the caretaker. Perhaps something had happened to the food that was fed to the cranes.
"Roy! It was you!"
At this point in time, a pale-faced Kicu shouted out.
"Who is Roy!?" The nerdy guy's tone turned icy.
Everyone's gazes shifted and landed squarely on Roy.
Roy was also dumbfounded. This was the first time he had come here, he had no idea what had even happened.
"You deserve death!"
Doko Joke, the owner of the crane, immediately brandished a whip.
Without a word, he rushed in front of Roy. The whip was raised up and, like a bolt of lightning, was lashed downwards. The whip had struck before anyone could hear anything. Roy himself had yet to see anything happen, but the clothes on his chest suddenly split apart.
He was unfazed, stood there calmly despite taking a huge strike from Doko Joke.
"What!?" every person that present expressed their astonishment.
Doko Joke was the most shocked of them. How could he not? He was the one delivering the strike. Even if his attack was not of his full might, it should be able to blast a mere mortal into pieces.
After all, he was a Foundation Establishment Realm Master! Late Stage Foundation Realm!
He couldn't believe that he had failed to make even a dent in a mere mortal's body. He only managed to scratch the mortal's clothing. How unbelievable was that!
If the word got out about this incident, how could he bear the humiliation! He would become a huge laughing stock!
But, before he could make another attack, someone interrupted.
"I fed the Immortal Sky Crane," Old Wang said as he stood up, his eyes trembling slightly. He averted his gaze just now because of fear, and didn't see clearly of what happened to Roy after the strike.
"Oh.." Doko Joke sent the old man a piercing gaze.
He had marked Roy to deal with later, and the most important thing to do was to vent his anger for poisoning his beloved magical beast.
Roy heard those words spoken by Old Wang. He had never imagined that he would help him, even in such a moment of crisis. He was also a mortal, moreover an old mortal man!
Today's kindness was deeply etched in his heart, well only a bit.
But, whenever something had to do with him, he would not implicate others for his own actions. Much less this kind-hearted Old Wang.
This Kicu had seen him as trash and had wanted to use him to solve his problems. However, this was Kicu and Doko Joke's problem. This had nothing to do with Old Wang.
Old Wang's willpower was about to fade away and he was about to faint!
"It has nothing to do with him!" he pushed Old Wang away. These were the principles Roy lived by. He could not let someone else suffer for him.
Although he had entered a great cultivators sect, he was unable to accomplish 'his' dream of becoming an immortal cultivator. He was doomed to forever be a mere mortal, doomed to live as someone of the lowest rank.
It's a fact that in this cultivation world, a mortal would never have a peaceful life and could only live in seclusion, unless they have some talent that would let them be taken in as a servant in some sects or families. Even so, they would still be oppressed by the stronger servants for being a mere mortal.
"How audacious! What I hate most is seeing some mortal that act like a courageous fool," said Doko as he gave a cold laugh.
The whip arched backwards and lashed down onto both Roy and Old Wang like a poisonous snake.
SHAAA!
