Terror is all Sebastian could feel back then, as he stood before four young men armed with a blade each, his life passed before his eyes, a life full of cowardice and fear, a truly insignificant life. But, even though he is afraid he won’t give up, because if he did who knows what fate will befall the girl shuddering behind him.
“Come on just give up on your heroic facade and leave and you won’t get hurt, you know?”
Said a thin young man standing behind the other three, he was probably their ringleader. Sebastian almost gave in to the sweet offer, but the ear screeching scream of the girl behind him erased such unmanly thoughts. I lived as a coward, never completing anything I started, but not this time, He thought. Such thought surfaced due to the disgust he always felt toward his weak, coward self.
“Run!” he yelled at the scared girl taking refuge behind him as he ran toward the armed group of young men, stretching out his arms he acted as a shield. The girl ran passed them toward a crowded area nearby through the opening Sebastian created with his thin muscle-lacking body. At least I’ll be of some help in my last moments. He thought as he felt a burning sensation coming from his stomach; he was stabbed.
“Shit!” the thin armed young men, the ringleader, cried out. It was an accident he didn’t mean to stab Sebastian. He just reflexively pointed his switchblade toward the young man running toward him.
“let’s go!” he ordered with a panicked expression. Following his commend they ran with their panicking leader.
On the cold gray concrete ground was a thin young man lying on it. His white cotton shirt was soaked in the fresh blood flowing from the stab wound in his stomach. Is this the end? Such an ominous question rang endlessly in his head. Remembering his short 17 years long life, tears started flowing, snot started coming; he was crying silently in that dimly lit back alley all alone. Death was breathing eerily on his neck, he was that close to dying.

“Strength, true strength is something rare in this day and age.”
He heard such a statement coming from above. He stiffly looked up and saw a thin and pale young man floating two meters above him, no, not floating, he was flying. And the evidence is his huge bat-like wings on his back.
Mustering the last bits of strength he had left, he asked the mysterious figure:”What do you mean?”
“That wasn’t courage, young man; What you did earlier was suicide. You knew you wouldn’t live to see the daylight after committing such a reckless action, and you did it, you know why?”
Asked the mysterious young man gazing straight-fully at the tear-filled eyes of the dying young man with his sleepy bloodshot ones.
Suffering to get the words out, Sebastian said:”To save the girl.”
To such an answer the flying young man laughed maddeningly, and then he suddenly stopped. It was so sudden that the mad laugh earlier seemed like an illusion. And then he said:
“To save the girl my undead butt! You know, I know. that you felt so disgusted by your pathetic fear filled self, that you full knowingly rushed toward your own demise.”
The dying man froze in his place, his shaking stopped, the pain stopped; it was that a great of a shock. He is right, he subconsciously admitted it.
“Right now you are thinking: ‘Damn! that flying handsome figure is totally right.’” Said the young man in the air with a prideful grin. And then he continued.”Look I like weaklings like you. The type that is honest deep down inside, but lies to the whole world outside. The strength of acting strong is a very fascinating to me. So I’ll make you a very nice deal.”
“what deal?”
“It’s a very simple deal. Either to die a weak human, or to live as a bad-a$$ undead butler. Choose one.”
I want to live, was all Sebastian could think of, but he died because he was such a weakling, so living like a weakling once again was something he would never choose. But the young man flying above him said that he would become strong. So…
“I choose to live!”
He yelled out with the last of his remaining energy. And he died seconds later. The last thing he saw as a human being was the grin of a blunt looking black-haired young man flying in the night’s deep blue sky.
