Prologue: Evans/ When the white lie turns blue

Prologue

The world is unfair.

In this unfair world, people die every day due to poverty. No matter the place, there will always be someone who wants to feel superior to others. This person will use every tool at their disposal to get what he wants. On the other hand, the weak will suffer if alone while the strong can enjoy ruling a bunch of weak-willed people.

The modernized Halette city wasn't any different in this aspect either. Even if the technology in this place was the best in the world and they could cure the most deadly diseases. Even if in this place lived the most famous and powerful people of the world. The weak still suffered at the hands of the powerful or in the weak-willed groups.

The weak-willed groups, at the midst of their incompetence, became arrogant and cruel. The society didn’t care about a few of their members suffering, so the weak had to keep his face low and restrain their anger. Although they didn’t have the power to protect themselves or to change their situation, they waited. They waited for an opportunity to change this wicked society.

In this beautiful city full of hidden wrath, there was a particular dark alley where the homeless children would gather at night. They would gather to protect from the cold weather and to share information about what was happening in the city. This group of children was well known in the market district for their abilities to deceive the elderly to get free food and coins. A talented group born from the despair and the wrath!

This small group had caught the attention of a certain blond haired man who was a well-known hero in this world for his justice sense. A man who would save the innocent and protect the peace, “Jack”.

But Jack hadn’t come to this alley to help the homeless children nor he was trying to capture the children to correct them. In public he would declare such a senseless stuff and everyone would love him. But in reality, saving some homeless children wouldn’t generate him any profit. It could be a good story when he was flirting with women. The children were talented indeed, but it didn't matter to him as he had men who should be able to produce better results than a homeless group of children.

Even so, that group had caught his interest because of three particular children’s personalities. They weren't as naive or broken as the others around them when facing the cruel world in which they had been born. A harsh environment had sharpened their minds and the most important thing about them was their potential.

It was a potential that made them perfect vessels for Jack's experiments. They would have been important people in their future with such talent. But in Jack’s hands, they would be even greater than they would have ever imagined.

That's why Jack had gone to that place and risked his life in the process in such dangerous zone. Training such genius would be useful for his objectives in the future as his subordinates.

The better the subordinates, the more powerful the Master is!

So he continued walking among the dozens of malnourished children, scanning the dark alley with his blue eyes, until he found what he was searching. Then, he got in front of the three boys with the most dangerous aura of all the children in the alley. It was obvious these boys had the experience in doing dirty jobs with such eerie eyes. Yet, before such eyes, Jack’s smile grew larger and his eyes showed his unwavering determination. He wasn’t surprised with those boys, there were worse things in the world he had seen throughout his life.

-Tell me brats, do you have a name? -Jack said as he got closer to them, not showing a hint of hesitation.

But the boys just looked at him with lightless eyes before lowering their head and ignoring him. Jack felt anger surging in his throat, but he restrained himself from shouting at them. He knew that something like this could happen, that’s why he had brought something the children wouldn’t refuse.

With a wave of his hand, Jack ordered his subordinates to bring a sack filled with meat. Seeing this, the children’s eyes brightened, which caused Jack to grin.

-Your names? -Jack asked as he was holding the sack with his right hand.

-.....Marco.

-My name is John, can you give that meat already?

-..... Evans…. Evans Miller, sir.
